Thread: Trump announces deal w/ Canada/Mexico to remove steel/aluminum tariffs.

  1. #1

Trump announces deal w/ Canada/Mexico to remove steel/aluminum tariffs.

    MAGA!

The joint U.S.-Canada statement says the two countries will establish a way to monitor aluminum and steel trade between them, with an eye to prevent the "transshipment" of aluminum and steel produced by a third country.

The deal also calls on both countries to prevent the importation of aluminum and steel that is "unfairly subsidized and/or sold at dumped prices."

The pact also leaves room for tariffs to be instated "imports of aluminum or steel products surge meaningfully beyond historic volumes of trade over a period of time, with consideration of market share."

Unfortunately this removes one barrier to the approval of the USMCA.

But it should show the TDS brigade that Trump isn't a committed protectionist who loves tariffs for their own sake.

USMCA will happen. Trumps assured it through hard negotiation tactics like tariffs. China is next. They simply will not chose to lose out on trade with the largest consumer nation in the world. And if they chose to I don't give a $#@!. The expansion of wealth and industry in their nation these decades, at our expense, can just end. $#@! the Chi-Comms.

Starting Monday, our great Farmers can begin doing business again with Mexico and Canada. They have both taken the tariff penalties off of your great agricultural product. Please be sure that you are treated fairly. Any complaints should immediately go to @SecretarySonny Perdue!

USMCA is the same as the old NAFTA with just a couple changes- Canada will buy a few gallons of milk and Mexico will pay their autoworkers more money. "Worst deal ever!" Since it is a treaty, Congress will have to approve it. It does not go into effect until all three countries ratify it.

Kinda the same. But, different. O.K.

Do you have a link or graph explaining the deal in entirety?

I don't suppose you have a list of those "significant" differences? Or will you yet again make a claim and fail to back it up?

    See a trend?
Yes, the trend is that government interference in the markets reduces predictability and causes malinvestment.

Oh, want to see another trend?

And there is the inherent dishonesty in your gig. Trump supporters celebrate when tariffs come to an end AFTER achieving intended economic goals that better the American economy.

Not to mention his mischaracterization of the pattern Dannno pointed out, he and his ilk complain when Trump reduces government interference in the markets.

This wishy-washy bribery deal sets the stage for USMCA, which is NOT a free-trade agreement, but government dictated. And "republicans" are all over the map with tariffs just to "support" the CIC.

The Count's trend is: Orange man bad.

The trend for people like me: Finally someone has addressed the problem of excessive tariffs against American goods that have de-industrialized our country. This is why the Dems have lost and turn everything racial. They have turned their backs on the blue collar American. A blue collar man wants to build houses, jets, cars. Not earn a livible wage as a Walmart greeter.

What is your position on the USMCA? Trump signed it at that ceremony, so I take it you are good to go with it?

Actually you have that backward. It is in fact YOU guys who are working toward that unintended consequence, because you are not able to put the pieces of the puzzle together, of which there have been countless posts.

    LOL

What we propose will and always has done the best possible job of preventing it, what you propose will directly cause it.

I wish I could LOL back, but in this case it is no laughing matter. What I propose would lead to a true free market, freedom and liberty, protects the Bill of Rights, Private Property, etc.

What you propose is restrictionist, creates crimes laws for businesses, and Funds the Fed. You know it, you advocate for it, but you will never willfully admit it. Because your goal is to see it through. Interesting, because you and I fully agree on what the USMCA will do.
