Thread: Ilhan Omar at Black Lives Matters rally: “This is not going to be the country of white people"

Exclamation Ilhan Omar at Black Lives Matters rally: “This is not going to be the country of white people"

So, as a white person hearing this from a sitting member of congress, I wonder what I am to make of that?

Clearly, my ideas of individual liberty, limited government and self reliance are no longer wanted or accepted.

So I have to assume that this country will no longer be a place for me.

And this is every day from people like her...and some people wonder why I have re-evaluated my position on immigration, among other things.

C'mon open border folks...change my mind...convince me I'm all wrong about this, that what I really need is a couple million more just like her, and we'll all end up with more freedom and less government whilst holding hands and singing Kum-By-Ya.

Ilhan Omar: ‘This Is Not Going to Be the Country of White People’

    https://www.breitbart.com/politics/2...s-and-muslims/

    PENNY STARR 30 Apr 2019

Black Lives Matter and other anti-Trump groups held a rally on the grounds of the Capitol on Tuesday to call for President Donald Trump to be censured for what he said about Rep. Ilhan Omar’s (D-MN) controversial statement that “somebody did something” on 9-11.

People chanted ‘“Hands off Ilhan” and in a series of speeches blamed the president and Republicans for the rise of “white supremacy masked as white nationalism.”

Omar spoke at the event in praise of her homeland of Somalia and said the president and his Party are responsible for recent attacks on synagogues and mosques.

“At this moment, the occupant of the White House and his allies are doing everything that they can to distance themselves and misinform the public from the monsters that they created that is [sic] terrorizing the Jewish community and the Muslim community,” Omar said.

Omar said she is criticized because she is a Muslim woman.

“I also happen to be a refugee and immigrant from what they call one of the $#@!hole countries,” Omar said, mocking the president for his alleged comments about war-torn countries like Somalia that drive their people out.

“The reality is that $#@!hole country raised a very proud, dignified person,” Omar said. “Our circumstances may not always be perfect but that doesn’t lessen our humanity and I am not in the business of defending mine.”

Omar was not as complimentary of the United States.

“This is not going to be the country of the xenophobics,” Omar said. “This is not going to be the country of white people.”

“This is not going to be the country of the few,” Omar said. “This is the country of the many.”

“This is the country that was founded on the history of Native American genocide, on the backs of black slaves but also by immigrants,” Omar said.

According to her website: “Ilhan and her family fled the country’s civil war when she was eight-years-old. They lived in a refugee camp in Kenya for four years before coming to the United States, eventually settling in the Cedar-Riverside neighborhood of Minneapolis in 1997.”
We must picture Hell as a state where everyone is perpetually concerned about his own dignity and advancement, where everyone has a grievance, and where everyone lives the deadly serious passions of envy, self-importance, and resentment. - C. S. Lewis

Johnson declared a war on poverty....we got more poverty.

Nixon declared a war on drugs....we got more drugs.

Bush declared a war terrorism...we got more terrorism.

Obama declared a war against instability in Africa...we got more instability in Africa.

Trump declared a war on illegal immigration...we got more illegal immigration.

    Enough said.

Oh...but he arrested Julian Assange, became the first president ever to ban a gun accessory by executive order (bumpfire stocks) and installed face scanning cameras at airports (to stop illegal immigration of course) so it's all good right?

    /Edit

Mass migration from central America is caused by U.S. destabilization of central American governments like what Trump is doing right fvcking now in Venezuela. So if you don't want mass migration to the U.S. ......

And the border wall does nothing to stop asylum seekers because, as Trump well knows, all they have to do under current law is get their foot on U.S. soil and the "Mexico" side of the wall is still U.S. soil. A wall to stop central American migrants would need to be built on Mexico's southern border.

That is a really weird assumption.

Does the fact that so far in its history the USA has not been the country of black people or any other nonwhites mean that it was not a place for them?

It seems like you just insist on framing everything around this imaginary race battle, where if whites aren't supreme then that means they're being displaced, and if they're being displaced then that means they're victims of a white genocide, and if there's a white genocide then that means somebody is going to kill you, so you have to kill them first. Or something.

I don't know if you've always been obsessed over this kind of ridiculousness. But if so, then you used to keep it much better hidden.

I don't support Omar's political agenda. But I don't want to have a country be "the country for white people" either. Frankly, I don't see assigning people to racial categories as any of the government's business, and historically, whenever governments have done that, nothing good has come of it.

I think the correct answer to miss Omar with the that it never was the country of white people, and already is the country for many.

^^^This. Its one thing if she said the US should no longer welcome white people. But seeing as she is non white who wants to make a home in the US, it is very logical to see how she would like to see the country to not just be for white people.

That I disagree with, it implies that black people are xenophobes. But the OP did not even have a problem with that line of thinking. Its as if he sorta agrees with it

    Of course.

And since that would be OK to say, then it must also be OK to say white rather than black there.

This is not at all what she was saying or even implying. The same way saying "This is not going to be a country of white people" doesn't imply one wants all black people to leave. This is not that hard to comprehend people.

Others can say what they want about the beauty of diversity. But, you (AF), are not wrong. There is certainly a movement afoot to completely remove white men and their achievements relegating them to the dustbin of history. Already, as predicted, the cultural Marxists have moved from demanding the removal of Civil War Memorials to removing Thomas Jefferson and George Washington from the public view. The next step, of course, will be the removal of the Constitution as a racist document and, thus, the end of this Republic. THAT is the end goal.

A Northern California public school district may remove a mural of George Washington from the halls of George Washington High School due to concerns that it’s offensive and demeaning to Native Americans and African-Americans.

The controversy comes after a working group determined the mural, made up of several panels, “traumatizes students and community members.”
    https://www.thecollegefix.com/high-s...izes-students/

Students at Hofstra University protested a statue of Thomas Jefferson on Friday at the second annual event, titled “Jefferson Has Gotta Go!"
The statue has been the center of controversy on the campus and has been defaced with “DECOLONIZE” and “Black Lives Matter” signs and stickers. According to a media advisory sent by the Jefferson Has Gotta Go (JGG) campaign, the protest was held at Hofstra Breslin Hall. Organizers included “students of Hofstra University, staff from Planned Parenthood of Nassau County, and supporters of Hempstead community.”

"it is about what the statue represents: a legacy of racism and bigotry on college campuses"
The group gathered on campus to “expose the culture of bias and discrimination,” as stated in the media advisory, and to demand “the statue of Thomas Jefferson is removed.”
"JGG isn’t just about a statue," she told Campus Reform. "Yes, the removal of the statue is important, but it is about what the statue represents: a legacy of racism and bigotry on college campuses.

It's not about "championing diversity" any more than being against the war on drugs is "championing drug use" or being against the war on terror is "championing terrorism." Nobody can deny these simple facts.

If there is such a movement, then it is so hopelessly doomed to fail that those who would treat it as a genuine threat only show their own fragility.

Frederick Douglas spoke honestly when he said, "I have great respect for the blue eyed and light haired races of America. They are a mighty people. She will be getting lot of criticism from Trump again if this is confirmed, he had already accused her of anti-semitism (a form of racism against semitic mideastern people) few days ago.

While it's supported by data that refugees coming in from Iraq, Syria, Palestine etc and migrants from Mexico, Venez, Ecuador etc tend to have higher fertility rates than local population but many demographic experts don't see poeple of color becoming a majority for many more decades (not clear if impact of things like DACA deal being worked out between Trump and Dems was accounted for in earlier projections by the experts). If there is another major freedom war (with Iran or another mideast country without democracy) or Venez military intervention does not go as planned, demographic shift could accelerate further with another spike in mideast/South America populations diversity influx and we could see some President named Al Gazan Hussein Assad giving roaring crowds another historic address in DC beating historic Barack Hussein Obama inauguration crowd size record that was set few years after Iraqi freedom war. But such freedom dynamics caused demographic shift seems much more probable than any 'genocide' that few MAGA supporters have suggested in the past.

Right. Trump will save us from the liberals trying to take away are guns by taking away are guns first.

Donald Trump quote @0:50 ^^: "Take the firearms first...and then go to court."

Here is a good montage from Fox News on Trump's shifting views on gun control over the years.

2000 -- He called for an assault weapons ban in his book The America We Deserve.

2015 -- As it becomes increasingly clear that he will run for president as a republican, he tells the NRA that the 2nd amendment will be protected if he runs for president.

2015 -- In the wake of the Paris shootings, he declares that if the citizenry had been armed the outcome might have been different.

2016 -- Post the Orlando gay nightclub shooting, Trump proposes using the no-fly list to limit gun purchases, something that Obama chief of staff Rham Emanuel proposed years earlier as highlighted in the Alex Jones film The Obama Deception. (I wonder if Jones will make a Trump deception film?)

February 2017 -- Trump signs executive order revoking Obama era background checks for people with mental illness.

April 2017 -- Trump promises the NRA "As your president I will never infringe on the right of the people to keep and bear arms."

That video ends in 2017. We now know that after that, Trump banned bumpfire stocks, and seemed to even be open to Diane Feinstein's renewed push for an assault weapons ban.

So support Trump...don't support Trump. But Trump doesn't really support gun rights.

I think that some of you get caught up in the academics of what was said, while ignoring the overall context of the environment in which it was said. It isn't a matter of whether the U.S. is, was, or was supposed to be a country of white people. If Ilhan Omar's statement was analyzed within a vacuum it could be deemed a fair statement, but the fact is that she makes such a statement while surfing upon a growing tide of overt, anti-white racism while the perpetrators of this racism feign commitment to opposing bigotry. I don't foresee a bona fide "race war" in the future, but we are already engaged in a cold demographics war, which is openly acknowledged and celebrated by the left.
