What a coincidence that he got paid $6.4 million for his troubles.

Even After all the torture Manning has already endured for doing what is right, Hero Manning imprisoned to extort testimony against Assange says "I Will Not Comply"

Chelsea Manning won't be bullied by the federal government … Manning was remanded to federal prison for … refusal to testify in a secret grand jury hearing …

"I will not comply with this, or any grand jury," said Manning. "Imprisoning me for my refusal to answer questions only subjects me to additional punishment for my repeatedly-stated ethical objections to the grand jury system."

The decision to throw Manning in prison by U.S. District Judge Claude Hilton came after Manning refused to cooperate with prosecutors in a secretive grand jury … aimed at the media outlet Wikileaks, Wikileaks founder and publisher Julian Assange …

"I have nothing to contribute to this case," said Manning, "and I resent being forced to endanger myself by participating in this predatory practice." … Manning told NBC News said she responded to each question with the following statement: "I object to the question and refuse to answer on the grounds that the question is in violation of my First, Fourth, and Sixth Amendment, and other statutory rights." …

that got her put in prison until she either capitulates to the government's demands or the grand jury ends. … Reaction to Manning's imprisonment from supporters praised the whistleblower's courage and her commitment to her principles …

"I will not participate in a secret process that I morally object to," said Manning, "particularly one that has been historically used to entrap and persecute activists for protected political speech."

    ----
Whistleblower Chelsea Manning stuck in jail after Assange arrest

Nine years ago, a 23-year-old US army specialist… rocked the US government by leaking disturbing classified military records to WikiLeaks. Chelsea Manning spent years in prison … before her sentence was commuted -- but on Friday was again sitting in jail for what her supporters say is an ongoing punitive political vendetta.

Last month, she refused to testify in a secret grand jury investigation of WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange …

the grand jury secretly issued its Assange indictment over one year ago, making Manning's testimony superfluous. But federal prosecutors have jailed her anyway, with little explanation of why.

The Assange indictment "is further evidence that the government's continued imprisonment of Chelsea for her principled stance against grand jury secrecy is punitive, cruel and unnecessary," her lawyers said. …

While everything she did with WikiLeaks in 2010 came out in her trial, in March she was nevertheless ordered to testify again … On March 8, the judge ordered her locked up in an Alexandria, Virginia detention center until she testifies or the grand jury is wound up. The indictment of Assange -- issued secretly in March 2008 -- would appear to negate the need for her testimony. But on Friday, she remained behind bars.

No mention of Wikileaks or Assange below this tweet.

    How about his website? https://www.paul.senate.gov/

As of the time of this writing, neither the word Wikileaks nor Assange appear.

Tulsi Gabbard has no problem addressing the issue. In fact, so far, she's the only member of the District of Criminals to do so. Another reason to support Tulsi 2020. She's a REAL Leader.

What does Rand Paul think of Julian Assange?
If her support for Assange is like her opposition to the wars she will throw the switch on the electric chair while giving a speech about how terrible it is that he was arrested.

White House adviser Kellyanne Conway On Sunday said she did not believe President Donald Trump had advance knowledge that WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange was going to be arrested by the British police and charged by U.S. prosecutors."Not to my knowledge," Conway told NBC's "Meet the Press" show, when asked if Trump knew ahead of time about Assange, who last Thursday was hauled out of the Ecuador's embassy in London where he had taken refuge since 2012 to avoid extradition.

Liberty is lost through complacency and a subservient mindset. When we accept or even welcome automobile checkpoints, random searches, mandatory identification cards, and paramilitary police in our streets, we have lost a vital part of our American heritage. America was born of protest, revolution, and mistrust of government. Subservient societies neither maintain nor deserve freedom for long.

I hope he gets pardoned, but we know how corrupt the US currently is. Whistleblowers should not be treated like this, but our sense of liberty is skewed. This is what happens when we create multiple loopholes in the law to ensure that people who expose corruption aren't covered by things like free speech.

Think about how corroded our rights are! The Fourth Amendment has suffered tremendous damage since the 60s, when through the course of a criminal trial it was decided that cops only need a search warrant if you have a "reasonable expectation of privacy" about something. Later, when one defendant attempted to overturn his sentence, saying that no warrant was used to acquire his bank statements, the court simply said that because the information about his finances was being held by a third party, he had no reasonable expectation of privacy, therefore no warrant was needed. How badly do you think Assange's rights were violated in the quest for evidence against him?
