Rand Paul Thanks Trump For Stopping Delivery Of Weapons To “Haters of America”

Senator Rand Paul thanked President Trump Tuesday after The Department of Defense announced it is “suspending” deliveries of F-35 fighter jet parts and manuals to Turkey.
“Thank you @realDonaldTrump. No weapons for haters of America!” Paul tweeted, adding that “Weapons and Aid should be contingent on behavior.”
The Senator also noted that the “Same should go for Saudi Arabia!”
    Thank you ⁦April 2, 2019
Paul has long campaigned for the US to stem sales of arms to regimes at odds with US foreign policy, particularly Saudi Arabia.

In an earlier tweet Tuesday, Senator Paul also vowed that he will “continue fighting for an end to U.S. involvement in the war on Yemen,” with a link to an article from the American Conservative concerning the US Saudi military coalition that has been waging war in the country for almost five years.

The Trump administration’s decision to stop supplying military parts to Turkey, a NATO member, comes following the Middle Eastern country’s decision to purchase a Russian air defense system.
“The United States has been clear that Turkey’s acquisition of the S-400 is unacceptable,” said acting Pentagon spokesman Charles Summers Jr.
“[U]ntil they forgo delivery of the S-400, the United States has suspended deliveries and activities associated with the stand-up of Turkey’s F-35 operational capability. Should Turkey procure the S-400, their continued participation in the F-35 program is at risk.” Summers added.
Turkey’s government has defended the country’s right to purchase Russian made, military equipment, with foreign minister Mevlut Cavusoglu arguing that “it is contrary to international laws for a third country to oppose an agreement between two countries.”
President Trump also met with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg Tuesday to discuss funding for the body, with Trump adamant that some countries don’t contribute enough to mutual defense.

That's a great picture on the InfoWars article of Rand giving Trump a thumbs up!

Yep, Rand is praising Trump for doing something good for the wrong reasons. When u find out that the reason he is halting the sale of jet parts is because Turkey decided to buy air defense capabilities from Russia that is when u should hold back your kudos.

The same president is also selling weapons to Saudi Arabia and restarted the funding of the white helmets. Sorry but I do not see anything to cheer about this story. Rand is again setting himself up to be punked.

Its not a blow to the MIC if he's punishing them for not buying their product. This decision was probably a request from the MIC who are pissed that Turkey is not buying from their competitor.

I'm going to admit that I was working off the headline and haven't read the article yet. Got up late and still loading up with coffee. I very well could be misunderstanding exactly what's going on here. Let me read it and I will get back to you. Hopefully I have not forgot the laws of supply and demand. Less demand = less sales = less production = less profit from War. The why doesn't really matter to me as long as there is a little reduction in production.

Sometimes the why doesn't matter but I think this time it does. The Trump administration is not trying to undermine the MIC but instead trying to do the opposite by trying to use their refusal of sale to push Turkey into buying their own air defense system.

So if this scheme by Trump succeeds then the MIC wins. This is the reason the "why" matters.

Well it is the whole article above. My confusion is in what you said here...

"This decision was probably a request from the MIC who are pissed that Turkey is not buying from their competitor."

"Is buying" or "is not buying" from their competitor? Did you mean they are pissed that Turkey "is buying" from their competitor?

I guess Rand's never going to pull his head out of Trump's ass.

And, motives aside, I'm not sure why people even like the underlying policy.

It's not like this was foreign aid; these weapons weren't going to be given to Turkey compliments of taxpayers.

So what's the appeal of blocking the deal? Turkey is now evil, an "America hater"? I guess I missed that memo.

Indeed, even if this were good policy for a good reason, that's no reason to tie yourself to an otherwise awful, unlibertarian President.

This idea of "praising Trump when he does good things," regardless of what else he's doing, is politically stupid.

If you find out that the gangster extorting you every week volunteered at a soup kitchen one time, you don't write an editorial singing his praises.

Not many people see the irony in a NATO member purchasing military equipment from the supposed enemy (Russia). This is one case where Pence is correct. Turkey is free to buy equipment from Russia, but they shouldn’t be in NATO if they do that. Turkey should withdraw from NATO.

And the best solution is to eliminate NATO altogether. Waste of money.

Anyone who buys military equipment from Russia hates America.

What everyone is overlooking here that Rand is not is that Trump is undermining NATO.
The more Trump causes trouble in NATO the better.
