The EU Wants Cars To Have Speed Limiters and More by 2022
Along with the introduction of other mandatory automatic safety devices and data-logging. Say hi to the government in your car.
    BY MÁTÉ PETRÁNY - MAR 27, 2019

It seems that politicians believe driver training or road maintenance won't improve anytime soon, so instead they want to limit your car's engine power to make sure you don't break the speed limit while robots determine whether you're fit to drive in the first place. At least that's the proposed plan in Europe starting in May, 2022.

Backed by Members of the European Parliament, the European Transport and Safety Council says its new mandatory systems "will reduce collisions by 30 percent and save 25,000 lives within 15 years of being introduced." And so just days after Volvo announced it will introduce driver-facing cameras and limit all its cars to 112 mph, the EU followed up with its own Intelligent Speed Assistance (ISA) system. Which includes:

GPS and/or traffic sign recognition to determine the speed limit of the road, with your car adjusting its engine power accordingly. Granted, the ETSC says that initially, the system will switch off once you floor the gas, mostly "to aid public acceptance at introduction."

    • Data loggers. When, where, how fast. And the data available to whom?
    • Advanced autonomous emergency braking and lane keep assist.
    • Reversing cameras.
    • Camera-based driver fatigue detection.
    • Alcohol interlock installation facilitation. A breathalyzer?
    • Emergency stop signal.

Geez, and then they send you micro speeding tickets like a $25 fine. Small enough so you don't really mind and not worth the effort to fight in court. Or how about this, the car automatically slows down when it detects that you are logged in and texting, and another fine.

We're being governed ruled by a geriatric Alzheimer patient/puppet whose strings are being pulled by an elitist oligarchy who believe they can manage the world... imagine the utter maniacal, sociopathic hubris!

Then they use the data they collect to claim humans are bad drivers and force everyone into autonomous cars.

    Its worse than that.

With that data, EVERY driver can now be classified as a "bad driver" depending on the simple interpretation of the data. The real goal here is to limit the mobility of people should those people start actively disobeying the unlawful orders of their Supreme Commanders. Challenge the State and they just turn off your ability to get an Uber or to use Public Transportation, just like they are doing in China. Back to the "data", just like any Buracreacy, you do NOT get a say-so, a hearing, a Right to face your accuser, trial, or even know the crime for which you will be charged, because its Corporate Policy, and not a Law that has been violated.

    Technocracy.

And the morons will all go for it, but only if they are offered meaningless choices such as Coke or Pepsi, but NEVER the choice to be FREE of the far reaching hands of those who simply refuse to leave others alone.

We already have insurance companies that offer reduced rates if you put a GPS thingy in your car. They kick you out of the plan though if you break the limit once by 30mph or higher! I'd be classified as an extremely unsafe driver... Even though I'm pretty sure I'm a very safe driver. I do break the speed limit regularly but I only do it when the circumstances on the road allow me to do it safely. Otherwise I have a very defensive driving style, taking into account that most people who drive 'normally' aren't good drivers and generally don't pay attention.

I've learned from flying to have a huge amount of awareness of your condition as well as being responsible for yourself, and others. All of this is ridiculous. It obviously is. I want to have kids but out of principle I think I'm not going to get any, I don't want to give this world to my kids.

I'd rather live in a free but potentially dangerous country than a country that's safe on paper where one isn't free. And I'm saying that even though I'm a pretty law-abiding person... Am I crazy ?

You aren't crazy, just think about the fact that if none of the good people have any kids there won't be anyone to save the world.

Thats all the data tracking does, it creates the Illusion of being safe at the expense of being truly safe. It also validates the need for corporations to rule our lives, because dependent people turn to the by the books numbers folks to be told what to do. Please oh mighty overlords, tell us how to live!
