A subcompact pistol with a compact length Bbl

I recently discovered the Bond Arms Bullpup 9.

The overall length of the pistol keeps it in the sub compact catagory. However, the barrel length is closer to a compact rather than a sub compact. This means the increased power and accuracy that come with a longer barrel and the ability to chamber cartriges as large as .45ACP.

In 2016 Bond Arms acquired Boberg Arms, including their handgun designs and patents.
Upon inspecting the design they identified a number of design flaws and be gan working to correct them.
After about a year and a half they got the gun working beautifully. They also identified the one problem they couldn't fix and figured out how to avoid it. This problem was that most small arms don't pull the cartridges backwards.
Consequently, many manufacturers or loadings are weakly or inconsistantly crimped, while others are crimped well beyond the threshold required to make the gun function reliably and smoothly.
Bond Arms posts an extensive list on their website of the amunition currently known to work reliably with the gun.
After about a year and a half they released the Bullpup9, the 9mm version of the design. As of early in 2018 the company president said they planned on releasing the .45ACP version and a .380 version.

The original design had jamming problems but the people who bought it improved it.

The video currently up on their website shows it jamming with certain ammo. So many better subcompact options out there.

I mentioned that in the OP, it is because the bullets aren't crimped enough to be pulled backwards as the bullpup design requires but they have a list of ammo that is crimped enough.

But none with a barrel as long.

To each his own, I just posted this because I find it interesting and hope to try one if I ever get enough money together.

I can definitely see the advantage in accuracy having a longer barrel in a shorter configuration and it's a cool concept. But for myself it has too many moving parts to wear out and have issues. More moving parts more breakage. It's just one of those unfortunate facts with all mechanical devices.

You can't have everything but to me a concealment gun (carried or hidden in the house) is not a gun that you are going to use very often and the increased power and accuracy are worth the increased mechanical complexity.

I would not care about size for a gun I was going to use more often at the range or carry when concealment wasn't required.
