Trump has always said he wants immigrants, legal immigrants.

The Marxist Media has always said Trumps want no immigrants.

    See the difference?

People told you the above repeatedly but you refused to hear it since it was more satisfying for you to believe we are ardent supporters and shills. Nothing ever changes here, you create your own reality and then believe it is true.

A perusal of some of the responses Trump supporters have given you in this very thread should sufficiently prove that not being an ardent supporter and shill puts you in the minority among them.

Remember how aghast danno was that people wouldn't buy Trump's line about his trade renegotiation with Mexico somehow constituting Mexico paying for the wall, and how danno kept saying that all along Trump's promises had the word "somehow" in them? I still think back to that and get a kick out of it. But sadly, that kind of excuse making is not atypical of Trump supporters.

Heads must be exploding on MSNBC.

They have been preaching that Trump is a racist because he doesn't want all those people from south of the border to get into the United States.

Now Trump is making it look like he couldn't be a racist, since he is trying to get more people from south of the border to work in the United States.

All the Trump virtue signaling in the world is not going to change their coverage. He is desperate for their approval like a teenage girl but he will never get it from them.

    Is he though?

Or is he just saying so?

His saying this is nothing new. But so far his actions have never matched his words on this.

Actually he released many policy documents throughout his campaign that showed limits on legal immigration. A form of these proposals was signed into legislation, H-1B visa limits for example. Most recently however he has been walking it all back likely to satisfy Adelson and his desperate need to seek approval from his enemies.

I think he believes his base will never leave him no matter what he does. From the looks of it on social I give that about a 50/50 split on anger against and battered wives defending him.

Just having limits doesn't equate to reduction.

Reduction would mean lowering the limits that already exist, not just having some limits whatever they may be.

His big beautiful door line about wanting to welcome tremendous numbers of legal immigrants doesn't sound like a promise to admit even fewer than we're admitting now. Although I grant that in Trump-speak it could mean that.

ETA: Also, don't forget that Trump throughout his campaign promised that after deporting illegal immigrants his plan was to expedite welcoming almost all of those same people back into the country with legal status. This is effectively amnesty, and this proposal all by itself, if truly followed, would entail a massive increase in legal immigration, and one that would last for as long as that policy were followed, since potential immigrants would find that if it's too hard to get visas to come here, they could just come here first illegally, and then get deported and put into an expedited processes to come legally.

Oh, no, of course you weren't calling people who denied the Deep State Media hated Trump blind idiots. Of course you weren't posting memes of foreign Trump Trains, then denying the irony.

Keep telling yourself that. If you repeat the lie often enough...

Every forum I visit discusses walls, illegals, invaders, border agents, drones, surveillance cameras, throwing employers in prison... none ever “ground-swell” discuss ending incentives.

    Amazing.
“The right to life is the source of all rights—and the right to property is their only implementation. Without property rights, no other rights are possible. Since man has to sustain his life by his own effort, the man who has no right to the product of his effort has no means to sustain his life. The man who produces while others dispose of his product, is a slave.”

    I'm enjoying this thread.

As much as I dislike being petty, I'm kind of enjoying it too. Being right is not unpleasant.

But have no fear. I'm sure some one will be along presently to Trumpsplain everything, as usual. Some of them never seem to learn.

To be fair, they were asking to be spat upon.

Don't worry, he'll tell 'em he's blessing them with holy water - and they'll ask for more.

Republicans never learn. The MSM pretended to hate Nixon, Ford, Reagan, Dole, Dubya, McCain and Romney. I guess they were scared of H.W. (at least the ones who were in Dealey Plaza were). But even he got scorned by the media, if not excoriated.

But the way they treated Trump was totally unprecedented. And if you don't believe me, just ask anyone who is too young to remember those other campaigns. They'll ejukate ya.

Of course you are happy, you believe in open borders and have been shilling for far left candidates. Even with Trump being a flip-flopper he is still better than any of your alternatives for people simply trying to put the brakes on the slide further into Socialism and foreign intervention globalism.

The status quo, or losing 15%-is better than losing 40%-50% on various issues.

You never learn to stop applying your alternative reality. See post above, starting with the 2nd sentance. It has been put in front of you hundreds of times over the years by many.

Exactly. All the while extolling the virtues of thinking for oneself while simultaneously telling us what losers we are for not jumping aboard the Trump bandwagon. Oh, I'm sorry. Trump TRAIN. Bandwagon sounds too much like what it actually is, following the herd.

Far left candidates would be those who, like Bernie Sanders and Dennis Kucinich, want to reduce legal immigration.

    Baaa--er, I mean Yaaa.

Don't forget the part where they accused everyone but themselves of believing the fakenews, then called everyone idiots for not buying the line that they were giving Trump a gazillion dollars' worth of free publicity because they hated him and wanted him to lose the nomination.

Oh really? Perhaps you could be so kind as to show me an actual quote anywhere where I supported any candidate whose Name wasn't Paul? Now run along and leave the serious discussion to the adults.

Rand Paul was not running in the general. You spent most of the time here bashing people that were simply trying to put the brakes on the slide further into Socialism and foreign intervention globalism. If they sat home we would have Hillary Clinton. Please explain how that is better?

People wouldn't be able to blame the oncoming crash on alleged conservatism or alleged capitalism...?

Hey, I had to come up with something. You did say please.

You have to know they're thinking along those lines. They know they're setting us up for a crisis, and they will not let it go to waste. Even Republicans aren't such slow learners they think the Steep Date can't see the crisis coming, or has no plan to exploit it.

And what better way to exploit it than to blame it on the double-talking, bankruptcy-riddled idiot businessman?

The news media that is controlling the narrative will lay that blame regardless of who is in office.

A crash that would make any difference is about as likely as the US splitting up into tribal factions. Possible but equally unlikely any time soon.

    Uh huh.

Cute trumpsplanation, but it doesn't hold water. People do blame sitting presidents when things go wrong, and their parties with them. And if you want to ignore the economic fundamentals and the bouts of market volatility, go ahead. I can't beat sense into your head.

Are you digging the jist of dat vibe?

But on the topic of legal immigration, I do think I remember him promising to increase it, while I don't remember him explicitly promising to reduce it.
Look, this thing of trying to figure out if there are some kind of quotes from a politician at some point and then trying to deduce if therefore it is acceptable to call him a liar or not, is ludicrous. It is just truly a ludicrous game.

It's like trying to shovel your driveway by solving a quadratic equation.

It has nothing to do with anything. Literally.

No one cares, nor did they ever, in fact, care.

What the thing is that you do, and with one Donald J. Trump in particular, is you look at who they are and what they are and the sort of general jist or vibe of what they have done in their life and are doing in their campaign. Then you pick black or red and you spin the roulette wheel.

As was obvious every single day of the campaign, part of Trump's schtick was to totally contradict himself constantly and thus make a mockery of the whole process and in particular of the mind-control media asking him the questions. Just shamelessly. I found it hilarious, and I think most people of my IQ level and political bent did as well.

Anti-Trump partisans will not like to hear me say it, but Trump really is a genius, almost certainly. He is very, very bright and has deliberately accumulated masteries of a very unusual constellation of skills. Masteries that enabled him to win the Presidency.

    At least nominally.

    But there's the rub.

Trump very certainly actually is sincerely anti-immigration and pro-protectionism. That may be the only thing (two things? but related) that anyone can say for sure about his views, and I personally think it's probable that those are actually his only political views.

What does that mean? It means that what is going on right now is that Trump does not have control over the government nor the executive branch that he is ostensibly and nominally the head of. He is as anti-immigration as anyone could possibly be, and as pro-American-manufacturing/anti-import as anyone could possibly be, and yet he is not really being able to accomplish very much on these fronts, now is he?

He certainly was not able to enact any "Complete and Total Shutdown"s.

    So.

There are two main theories regarding this. One is that he is trying to get this power. There's some secret power struggle going on, and maybe in the end Trump will win and become President (or maybe he will lose). The other is that he is not trying to get any such power, that he either already lost or never engaged in such a struggle.

I myself do not know which is true, and probably neither do you.

But I do know that "what Trump says" has never mattered at all; that is, not in a straight-forward way. Though it certainly does matter in the Culture Wars and in Overton Window shifting, as has been mentioned.

Oh, also for being highly funny.

However: he has been a lot less funny in office, and the quotient is in a downward trend. This may be his most unforgivable sin.
