Senate Forbids Israel Boycott - Is It Constitutional?

The first Senate bill of the year has taken on those who seek to boycott Israel over its treatment of Palestinians. In a complicated maneuver, the Senate has voted to allow states to boycott the boycotters. Is it a free speech/First Amendment issue? Supporters of the bill say no. Many civil libertarians disagree.

Isn’t it ironic? Senator Mark Rubio (RINO-IL) is leading the charge to make some boycotts illegal, while at the same time leading the charge (with Mike Pence) to heavily “boycott” the nation of Venezuela.

This law should be struck down by the courts as being a violation of the 1st Amendment. According to the Liberty Report, they tried to implement this in a roundabout way.

If my understanding of this is correct, they have essentially tried to say that States do not have to follow the 1st Amendment. Imagine if they did this to the 2nd Amendment. If this precedent stands, it is guaranteed that they will do the same to the 2nd. For example, the law would essentially say that the Federal government explicitly gives California permission to completely ban guns. It would not be a direct Federal ban, just a ban once removed via the States.
