A new migrant caravan departed from the central bus station in San Pedro Sula, Honduras, on the evening of Monday, January 14.
El Periodico reported at least 500 migrants departed on Monday evening, ahead of the scheduled departure time of 5 am Tuesday.
They reported the group set off, in the rain, from the same location a previous caravan departed from on October 13, 2018, in search of better living conditions. According to CNN, as this group travelled through Central America toward the US it was estimated to reach 7,000 people at its peak.
A week earlier, Donald Trump had told reporters there was another major caravan forming and his administration were trying to “break it up,” CNN reported. Credit: Sarah Kinosian via Storyful
