Thumbs up Syria Withdrawal underway: 'We don't take orders from Bolton'

The U.S. military is moving ahead with its plans to withdraw all troops from Syria, in keeping with a White House directive in December, even though a U.S.-Turkey rift appears likely to delay the pullout, defense officials said.

Scores of ground troops are headed toward Syria to help move troops out, and a group of naval vessels headed by the amphibious assault ship USS Kearsarge is headed to the region to back up troops at the vulnerable moment they are leaving the country, the officials said. The Kearsarge carries hundreds of Marines, helicopters and other aircraft.

"Nothing has changed," one defense official said. "We don’t take orders from Bolton."

To account for shifts in plans, the military will stage the personnel and equipment needed for a possible withdrawal, rather than move the U.S. forces out. Troops tasked to help with the eventual withdrawal already are in the area, in places like Kuwait and al-Asad and their base in western Iraq.

Hurray, the neocons have been overruled by The Donald and the troops are pulling out. What will the haters say...

Trump doesn't like the neos, but uses them for their money. You can't compete in a national election without their funds and network. Watch if he wins a second term. The divorce could be incredible.

This if confirmed as non-fakenews would further invalidate recent conspiracy theories that claimed MAGA was a fake front group / puppet of Israel-First lobbies etc. MAGA following neocon Bolton's or Ivanka's Syria war policy never made any logical sense. Hopefully that was fakenews.

It's true some non-America-Firster lobbyists and money baggers buy politicians of both parties but MAGA has deep pockets himself and is suposed to be self-funded , so in theory neocon Bolton's political slave masters/money baggers etc should not be able to puppet master him. Hillary and Cruz are a different story.

Only the best. He said so. (If you read the article, it says that plans are underway but it does not say any actual withdrawl is underway)

Last March, Trump said we would be leaving Syria soon. We are still there. In December he said they would be out in 30 days. Now that too is being put off.

The withdrawal plan, whose details are classified, includes bringing hundreds of additional troops into Syria temporarily to facilitate the pullout. These include troops to provide extra security for those who are preparing to leave. The full withdrawal is expected to take several months.

Contrary to assurances from Trump's National Security Advisor, neocon John Bolton, and Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, who suggested earlier this week that US troops would remain in Syria for at least a little while longer, the Associated Press reported on Friday that the US has begun the process of removing the 2,000 soldiers based in northeastern Syria.
Citing information provided by activists with the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, the withdrawal officially began Thursday night local time. A convoy of about 10 armored vehicles and some trucks left the town of Rmeilan into drove into Iraq. Col. Sean Ryan, spokesman for the coalition fighting the Islamic State group, later confirmed that the US has started "the process of our deliberate withdrawal from Syria."

If it really happens, it's almost too good to be true. It's too infrequently that the government removes 100% of government employees and contractors from another nation in regards to war.

Repositioning a few pieces of equipment but no personnel being moved. The number of people is expected to increase before they actually start to be drawn down.

It IS underway, you can question whether it will be complete but you can't claim it isn't underway.

It seems like the current goal is to fill all political discourse with conspiracies every which way so as to confuse people to the point of no longer knowing what to trust anymore. This dilutes and takes away the value of uncovering truth and shining light on important topics, because if everything is a conspiracy theory, the value and importance of truth becomes lessened.

This seemed to have begun in full force once the truth was unveiled about topics that were once considered only conspiracy theory, such as the "deep state", the "shadow government" as recent as 3 years ago, and is now widely accepted as existing. Since these topics became recognized and mainstream, literally every topic is apparently a conspiracy theory and there is no longer a foundation for truth left and the msm is playing a heavier hand in this than at any point prior. Everything is questioned and we are supposed to get lost in the weeds.

Whether or not this actually succeeds is unknown, but I get the feeling people are seeing through the debris and the lies since truth has a way of stubbornly avoiding being discarded entirely.

Are you dense? According to the AP article he linked to, the troop count is already increased in order to provide additional security and resources to expedite the withdrawal.

Is this withdrawal hard for you, Zippy?

If Trump actually withdraws the troops from Afghanistan and Syria by the election, I might actually support him for 2020.
