WASHINGTON — In the days after President Trump fired James B. Comey as F.B.I. director, law enforcement officials became so concerned by the president’s behavior that they began investigating whether he had been working on behalf of Russia against American interests, according to former law enforcement officials and others familiar with the investigation.

The inquiry carried explosive implications. Counterintelligence investigators had to consider whether the president’s own actions constituted a possible threat to national security. Agents also sought to determine whether Mr. Trump was knowingly working for Russia or had unwittingly fallen under Moscow’s influence.

The investigation the F.B.I. opened into Mr. Trump also had a criminal aspect, which has long been publicly known: whether his firing of Mr. Comey constituted obstruction of justice.

More lunacy as the story continues....https://www.nytimes.com/2019/01/11/u...a-inquiry.html

In this case Nixon's assertion applies: If the President does it it's not illegal

The president is the one chosen by the American people to determine our geopolitical/diplomatic position, if he says Russia isn't our enemy then Russia isn't our enemy.

NYT is losing all credibility and making the Enquirer a more credible source. Enough already. What the hell world am I living in where this totally retarded nonsense is being taken seriously by supposed legitimate media.

''...whether the president’s own actions constituted a possible threat to national security...''
They have Hillary 'red handed' and admittedly guilty of being a THREAT TO NATIONAL SECURITY,
so instead of prosecution they dream up constant diversions.
The NYT is collisional in protecting Hillary from Justice.

These FBI clowns are such a disgrace.
I just want objectivity on this forum and will point out flawed sources or points of view at my leisure.

You do realize, I'm not asking a question ,
and if I was asking , it would be rhetorical ,
and the answer is no secret to anyone .

If this Political motivated persecution is not enough to finally end the FBI.. then there is no hope of such..

They have NO Credibility. and a Horrible record.
Liberty is lost through complacency and a subservient mindset. When we accept or even welcome automobile checkpoints, random searches, mandatory identification cards, and paramilitary police in our streets, we have lost a vital part of our American heritage. America was born of protest, revolution, and mistrust of government. Subservient societies neither maintain nor deserve freedom for long.

Trump wouldn't be the first person the F.B.I. has framed.

might have enough evidence to appoint a special council to expose the
abject abuse of power that the FBI wields, the pervasive corruption, and whether
this will cause heads to roll in the upper FBI tiers.

I'm actually surprised this hasn't gotten more of a following in the conspiracy threads on the forum. Or if it has I have totally missed it.

We just had new threads on JFK. Past discussions cover just about everything questionable over the past century... 911 has so many threads, odd stock market trades before 911, WTC building 7, the anthrax mailing, you name anything that could have a conspiracy with it and it will be discussed here. Some fascinating info is shared this way, not the typical tin foil hat wearing type. I learned about the USS Liberty from those discussions, like I said informative.

So why do we just throw out Russian influence? I'm pretty sure more actual discussion on pizzagate has happened than if Trump actually had russian influence.

Instead most comments about findings of collusion end up either defending Trump outright, blanket attacking of Trump, or attacking government incompetence so the issue doesn't matter. We should even drop the 'collusion' part to avoid the entire legal discussion.

How do we have a discussion about Trump and possible Russian ties worthy of discussion without devolving into partisan politics? We all have access to many primary sources - twitter, interviews, public plea agreements from many close Trump supporters.

Or is the problem that it's ongoing, the pieces keep moving, and determining the truth is going to end up based on what sources you read as those come from all sides and each have different "sources with relevant knowledge"?

I don't actually care. I think it's a talking point the left dreamed up.

I'm admittedly in the defend Trump 'outright' camp
regarding Russia Gate, do you have any evidence that
Trump Colluded with Russia in any illegal or un constitutional manner,
I'll be the first set aside my bent of innocent until proven guilty and
straddle the scales of justice if there is compelling evidence to warrant it.
Does the fact that Mueller is willing to investigate and indict anyone
for anything under the sun that has ever met or been
associated with Trump, right down to and including his
dog, draw any red flags as to Mueller's stake in this game?
On the other hand, Hillary and Comey's numerous admissions
of espionage, Hillary's malfeasance regarding Benghazi, and possible
complicity in those murders, the connection of Hillary's Foundation,
the association with Mueller in the Russian-Iranian-Foundation deals.
These issues are not on the front page of this forum daily ,
should they be or is it better to cast suspicion on a President that
is not guilty of any crime?

Not only do I not see evidence of collusion, I have no idea what that collusion might be other than keeping us out of WWIII. So far collusion has been: not getting more involved in Syria and starting to withdraw, holding talks with Putin, A Russian chick joined the NRA, Flynn and Don junior spoke to a Russian dude once, and WikiLeaks demonstrated that the DNC screwed Bernie out of the primaries. CNN, MSNBC, NYT, are the INFOWARS of the last two years.

Who cares if Trump had Russian influence?
What matters is whether his policies are best for America, if making peace with Russia and retracting the empire is best for America then we should thank Russia for any influence they expended on Trump to achieve it.

fwiw, I spoke to a few fbi agents and employees at a party recently, they all loved trump and gave the impression that the rank and file at FBI felt much the same way.

John McCain gave the fake dossier the democrats created to James Comey
allegations it contained were raw, uncorroborated intelligence. That's why McCain says he handed it over to the FBI to investigate: to protect Trump from "groundless conspiracy theories," "Anyone who doesn't like it can go to hell,"
