I wouldn't actually support wall but I was making the point that you open borders types wouldn't allow us to stop them from invading even if they left the union.

I would want the border patrolled heavily just like the southern and northern borders.

Don't let immigrants come in unlimited numbers if you value your lives and freedom.

Hey hey hey, don't leave the east coast out.
    On Trump:
How conservative Republicans can continue to support this arrogant imposter—the man who brags about inflicting the world with the Covid mark of the beast; the man who said, “Take the guns first, go through due process second”; and the man who deliberately played and then set up Stewart Rhodes (of course, Stewart was all too eager to be Trump’s patsy) for an 18-year prison sentence—is truly beyond my comprehension.” Chuck Baldwin

We need a new Great Wall of China. Most immigrants now from Asia- not Central and South America.

    NOBP.

Ron's position is that PRIVATE property owners can restrict who is allowed on to their PRIVATE property. That position is not at odds with not supporting walls, passports, and visas. Anyone who thinks this is a contradiction obviously hasn't taken time to understand the P in NOBP.

Ron's position has changed, he voted for the secure fence act to keep the invaders out, he later said he regretted doing it because walls can keep people in but he wouldn't have voted for it at all if he hadn't wanted to keep the invaders out.

Ron's new position is wrong, even if it would be right in a libertarian paradise (and it wouldn't, it would doom that paradise) it is absolutely wrong while the welfare state is still in place.

Ron's new position is not wrong. I don't want to live in East Germany; we can keep Invaders out without a wall.

    $#@! Trump; NOBP.

I don't support the wall but you WILL live in East Germany or worse if something isn't done to stop the invasion, Ron's new position is totally free immigration and that IS wrong and it is DOUBLY wrong while the welfare state is still in place.

Talk to the open borders crowd:

When you get into specifics you find that he's not talking about any means of effectively restricting immigration. Ron Paul, unlike some here, does not consider unarmed mothers entering the USA with their children to be the same thing as a foreign invasion. When Ron Paul says "protect our borders" and "beef up our borders" he isn't referring to anything that is incompatible with his position that people should be permitted to enter freely without even having passports.

Notice that in the very context of that quote, the main factor that he sees as distinguishing his position from one of totally free immigration is that he wants to reduce the welfare state.

The quotes you provided don't actually mention border patrols. They refer to border guards. But you're right, under Ron Paul's proposals, those border guards wouldn't have much to do. Practically anyone who wanted to enter the USA would be able to do so legally at any border crossing without even needing a passport. There just wouldn't be any government welfare available to them here. But they would be able to get jobs without their employers being required to demand proof of citizenship or legal residency as a prerequisite for working. And they would be able to stay here without fear of getting deported.

Notice that he compares the role the government has at guarding our border with the role our military was playing in guarding Iraq's borders. This was not for stopping the movement of civilians in and out. It was restricted to military operations.
