Protests erupted Tuesday outside the West Hollywood home of prominent Democratic donor Ed Buck, with activists calling for Buck's arrest after a man was found dead in the apartment early Monday -- 17 months after a deceased male escort was discovered there.
"Arrest Ed Buck, prosecute Ed Buck, and then a jury needs to convict Ed Buck," activist Jasmyne Cannick said to the crowd gathering outside the California apartment Monday night. "This man has had two dead bodies in his house, and he is still in his house."
Said another demonstrator: "This man is a danger to our community."
Neighbors of Buck's, who were drawn out of their homes as a result of the protest, said they have the same questions as everyone else and have made their own calls to police, according to FOX11.

"The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau has responded to the location and Investigators are conducting a thorough investigation," police said in a statement obtained by Fox News.

The Sheriff's Office also said they are now taking a second look at the death of Gemmel Moore -- the male escort whose body was found in Buck's apartment in July 2017 -- in the wake of Monday's discovery.

Earlier this week, a second black man died of a suspected overdose in the West Hollywood home of Democratic donor Ed Buck.
Wednesday, another young black man has come forward, telling his story of a drug and sex crazed party during which Buck attempted to prey on him.
“Jermaine Gagnon, 28, told DailyMailTV how Buck, 63, paid to fly him from Minnesota to Los Angeles, drugged him with a substance dissolved in Gatorade then injected him with crystal meth at his West Hollywood apartment,” according to DailyMail.

This one has pictures folks. Ed Buck really does love drugging up black men in white long johns.

The 28-year-old shared photos of Buck, wearing white long johns, crouched over him on a mattress during one of their nights together last year

I actually drove by the protests the other day. Rather sizable, surprisingly. I hope they continue. Though I doubt this guy is a murderer, just a degenerate who parties too hard with his sexual conquests.

Who is Ed Buck? The erratic life of the Democratic donor in whose home two dead men have been found

    JAN 18, 2019

Ed Buck is seen at 2010 campaign stop for Meg Whitman, then a Republican candidate for governor of California. Buck heckled her.

In 2010, then-California gubernatorial candidate Meg Whitman was holding a political rally at a Hollywood hotel when from the front row a man started heckling her.

“What are you hiding?” the man shouted at the Republican candidate. “You’re looking like Arnold in a dress!” he said, referring to outgoing Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Before Whitman could respond, then-New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, who was speaking with Whitman, stepped down from the stage and pointed his finger in the man’s face, saying it was “people who raise their voices and yell and scream like you that are dividing this country.” The man pointed his finger right back in Christie’s face.

For many people watching the episode on television, it was a first glimpse, however brief, of Ed Buck, a former fashion model, self-described retired multimillionaire and onetime West Hollywood City Council candidate.

Now, Buck is generating notoriety of a different kind after the deaths of two men in his West Hollywood apartment.

The deaths of Timothy Dean, 55, earlier this month and Gemmel Moore, 26, in 2017 have prompted homicide investigations by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. Prosecutors declined to press charges in the first case, but the Sheriff’s Department said recently it would be reexamined after Dean’s death.

The deaths have stoked outrage and suspicion among activists and the men’s family and friends, who question whether differences in race, wealth and political connections have influenced the investigations. Both of the dead men were black. Buck is white.

Buck’s attorney, Seymour Amster, said his client was a man with a “heart of gold” who invited troubled people into his home to help them. Buck is not responsible for the deaths, he said.

Buck, 64, has long been a contentious figure in West Hollywood, where he was best known for his animal rights and LGBTQ activism and his donations to Democratic politicians and causes.

He was an enigma to those who knew him — a man who bragged about his wealth while living in a barely furnished apartment. He fostered elderly dogs but was known to criticize strangers over how they walked their pets.

    An ‘in-your-face activist’
The son of a city sanitation worker and a secretary, Buck grew up in Phoenix. His mother once told a reporter that when Buck was in high school, “the dean of boys had a hot line to my phone at work. I’d answer the phone and say, ‘All right, what is it this time?’ ”

In his early 20s, Buck worked as a fashion model and actor in Europe for several years before returning, jobless, to Arizona. He worked for a friend’s business, an information service for auto insurers, and became obsessed with it. He slept on a mattress in the company office and eventually bought out his friend. He later sold the business for what he said was a “million-dollar profit,” according to the Arizona Republic, and was suddenly wealthy, retired and bored at 32.

Buck became a nationally known figure in the late 1980s when he led the successful effort to impeach Arizona Gov. Evan Mecham. Buck, who then described himself as a conservative Republican, set up shop in a downtown Phoenix office, where he hung a piñata effigy of the governor, seeded the recall movement with $5,000 of his own money and turned it into a full-time job. Upon learning Buck is gay, Mecham declared him a “militant homosexual.” Buck responded: “He’s right. So what?”

During the recall effort, it was made public that Buck was arrested in 1983 for public sexual indecency for grabbing the crotch of another man in a bookstore. Buck pleaded guilty to disturbing the peace and cracked to reporters: “What they didn't say was that the man enjoyed it.”

When Buck threatened to launch a recall effort against both of Arizona’s senators, Democrat Dennis DeConcini and Republican John McCain, over the Keating Five corruption scandal, he printed fake $10 bills with their pictures and the words “illegal tender for favoritism.” The Secret Service seized them, saying they too closely resembled real currency.

Buck eventually made his way to Southern California, where, court records show, he has been the subject of several requests for restraining orders. Records from three cases from 2007 that involved Buck were destroyed by the Los Angeles Superior Court.

In another case for which records still exist, a 2002 request for a temporary restraining order against Buck, James de Jarnette, a Los Angeles psychotherapist, wrote that Buck came to his home for an evaluation, spoke about having narcolepsy and “seemed to want amphetamines.”

When De Jarnette said he could not prescribe medication, Buck “told me what a sorry human I am,” De Jarnette wrote. Buck called him back hours later and said, “You will feel my pain; I’m on my way over,” according to court records and a police report.

De Jarnette alleged that Buck hung fliers all over his apartment building, telling residents to protect themselves because De Jarnette invited “dangerous people” to his home as part of his practice.

De Jarnette’s petition was dismissed after a hearing. De Jarnette could not be reached for comment.

In court papers responding to De Jarnette’s claims, Buck wrote: “He may be afraid, but it’s only the truth he has to fear.”

In 2007, Buck unsuccessfully ran for West Hollywood City Council as part of the Save West Hollywood campaign slate, a group of candidates who pledged to stop mega-development and “take down the ‘For Sale’ sign at City Hall.”

Steve Martin, a former councilman who ran on the slate, said Buck was known for his animal rights activism, especially on behalf of golden retrievers. He was a leading force behind the city’s 2011 decision to ban the sale of fur apparel.

But Buck constantly got in people’s faces, Martin said. Buck would see people walking their dogs and say they were doing it wrong or that they had their dog on the wrong diet.

“It was like Ed was the expert and he knew best,” Martin said.

Allegra Allison,a longtime West Hollywood resident, helped Buck with his City Council campaign, which he ran out of his apartment. She described him as “an in-your-face activist” who was “very intense.”

“He had almost no furniture, and he rented furniture for the campaign,” she said. “It’s two small bedrooms, and the living room was basically empty.”

Ashlee Marie Preston, a transgender activist and writer, said she met Buck through the Stonewall Democratic Club, an LGBTQ political group, where she was the chair for special events.

In 2016, Preston was attending the club’s retreat at a mountain resort in Kern County. She stepped outside to the patio, and Buck, whom she did not know well, followed her. They made small talk and took a photo together. Suddenly, she said, Buck pulled out his phone and started showing her a video of a young black man appearing to smoke methamphetamine.

Preston said she was a recovered meth addict and instantly recognized what was happening in the video.

"He was really fixated on the video. ... He didn't break away,” Preston said. “He just kept looking, and he just had this awkward smile, and he said, 'He's gorgeous.' "

Preston and Buck never discussed it again.

Amster said he was not familiar with the incident and did not know what is on Buck’s cellphone.

    Two deaths, many questions
In 2017, Gemmel Moore died of a methamphetamine overdose in Buck’s home, where, according to a Los Angeles County coroner’s report, investigators found “multiple sex toys, multiple syringes and clear plastic bags with suspected methamphetamine in a tool box roll-cabinet in the living room.”

Moore had been homeless and had worked as an escort. The Times reviewed pages of a journal that authorities said was found among Moore's possessions. In it, Moore purportedly wrote in 2016 about using crystal methamphetamine.

"I've become addicted to drugs and the worst one at that," the journal said. "Ed Buck is the one to thank, he gave me my first injection of chrystal [sic] meth."

In 2017, The Times interviewed a young black man who asked that his name not be used because he worked as an escort. The man said he reported complaints about Buck, similar to those made in the journal, to the West Hollywood sheriff’s station three weeks before Moore died.

The man showed The Times communications with Buck and photographs of him and Buck inside an apartment. Nana Gyamfi, an attorney representing the man, and a sheriff’s detective confirmed the man provided the same information to investigators looking into Moore’s death.

The man said he went to Buck’s apartment on July 3, 2017, and Buck took photos of him then asked if he wanted something to drink. Buck, he said, gave him a glass of water that made him feel a tingling sensation.

"The next thing I know, I’m waking up from taking a deep breath,” the man said. “My arms are immediately hurting, and I’m tied down to the couch. Just my arm. My arm was hurting.”

He said he went to the sheriff’s station afterward but that authorities told him he was tweaking and needed to leave.

Amster says he does not know whether Buck does illicit drugs and that “what he does of a consensual nature I really am not privy to or care about.”

The Los Angeles County district attorney’s office last summer declined to file charges in Moore’s death, citing insufficient admissible evidence. A charge evaluation sheet cited an inadmissible search and seizure but did not elaborate. Buck was present for both deaths, authorities said.

On Jan. 7, Timothy Dean, of West Hollywood, died in Buck’s apartment. A cause of death has not been released, but Amster said Dean died of an apparent overdose after ingesting a substance at another location. Law enforcement officials have put a security hold on Dean’s autopsy.

    Dueling views
The deaths have drawn scores of protesters to Buck’s home. At one protest, Moore’s mother, LaTisha Nixon, said Buck “is preying on black men.”

Jasmyne Cannick, a political consultant who organized the protests, has accused Buck of luring vulnerable black men to his apartment for sexual gratification.

Capt. Chris Bergner of the sheriff’s homicide bureau said all the materials from the probe into Moore’s death are being reexamined as part of the investigation into Dean’s death.

Activists have questioned whether Buck’s donations to elected officials have protected him from arrest and charges. Since 2009, Buck has donated more than $520,000 for local, state and federal campaigns. He has donated to each of the current West Hollywood City Council members except Councilwoman Lindsey Horvath.

Last week, Horvath was on hand for a candlelight vigil for Moore and Dean outside Buck’s apartment. She said she had asked Sheriff Alex Villanueva for extra patrols near the apartment.

Amster said race had been unfairly used to blame Buck for the deaths and that Black Lives Matter activists were targeting his client “because they are looking for a political victory.”

“Some people still want us to have a race war,” Amster said. "Some people want to look at things as black, white or brown. It’s not. If we want to move forward and get away from identifying individuals by race, we must take race out of the conversation.”

Amster said Buck was not as wealthy as he had been portrayed in the media. Buck, he said, has helped “hundreds of people.”

“They’ve been homeless; he’s helped them get a job. … He’s helped them get out of drugs,” Amster said. “When they have nobody else to turn to, they turn to him. He’s given them a place to sleep, which is one of the problems, and unfortunately they bring their problems into his residence and he gets blamed for their situations.”

Amster added: “He did have friends in the elected community, which I don’t think exist any more. There were electeds that liked him. That’s over.”

    Dead Bodies at Ed Buck's

For the second time in 18 months, a dead body has been found at the home of Ed Buck, a prominent LA-based Democratic donor …

Buck's attorney said the deceased was an old friend of Buck's who died of an overdose after ingesting drugs at another location. … Buck was home at the time the man died.

While the circumstances of the latest death aren't entirely known, the previous death, which occurred in July 2017, was that of a 26-year-old man who had been working as a prostitute when he died of a methamphetamine overdose in Buck’s apartment. The man, Gemmel Moore, was homeless at the time - but he was flown from Houston to LA by Buck on the day that he overdosed.

Months later, the LA Times reportedly reviewed Moore's journals, where he wrote about how Buck introduced him to crystal meth, and even worried that his addiction might kill him.

"I’ve become addicted to drugs and the worst one at that," Moore reportedly wrote in the diary. "Ed Buck is the one to thank, he gave me my first injection of [sic] chrystal meth." "I just hope the end result isn’t death...If it didn’t hurt so bad I’d kill myself but I’ll let Ed Buck do it for now."

Activists rallied outside Buck's apartment on Monday evening and demanded that the donor be arrested and prosecuted for the deaths …

DailyMail: 'I thought I was going to be the next to die at Ed Buck's house.' Man tells DailyMailTV how Democratic donor paid him $250 and injected him with meth after 'fetish' sex sessions in white long johns - as police probe TWO black men's deaths

A man has told how he narrowly escaped death when Hillary Clinton donor Edward Buck injected him with crystal meth at his sex-toy filled apartment - where two black men have died within 18 months. Jermaine Gagnon, 28, told DailyMailTV how Buck, 63, paid to fly him from Minnesota to Los Angeles, drugged him with a substance dissolved in Gatorade then injected him with crystal meth at his West Hollywood apartment. …

Buck has also faced protests outside his apartment over the deaths …

Gagnon told DailyMailTV that he was homeless and couch-surfing in LA in April 2018 when he met Buck on the gay dating site, Adam4Adam. Buck offered him $200 to spend the evening with him at his apartment, he said. … 'The first day we met, I met him at his house. … When I walked in, it was dim lights, a mattress in the middle of the floor, three mirrors surrounding the mattress and a flat-screen TV mounted on the wall.' Gagnon said the mirrors were about seven-foot high and appeared to be suspended on ropes so that they tilted forward over the bed. …

'He had this red and black toolbox with all types of fetish toys, like c**k rings, sex toys. He also has needles inside this drawer.' … 'He was a good person when I first met him. He was really cool. He was calm, he was collected. The apartment looked like a club scene or something. 'We just sat at the table trying to get to know each other and the fetishes that he likes. 'He likes the bulge in your pants, he likes you to wear c**k rings and pocket p***ies. He's fixated on pictures and looking at you. He says ''two men f***ing each other, f****ts do that''. …

'He's more oral or foreplay, dressing you up and you being his sex slave. He had a certain way of what you had to wear into his house to play in his game. 'When you first come into the house, you take your clothes off. He said, ''I want you to put on this, this is what entertains me.'' … 'He gave me some Tommy Hilfiger tighty whities, a muscle t-shirt and some long johns. White knee-high socks. ‘ …

The 28-year-old said that during this first meeting he smoked crystal meth with Buck. 'We smoked together, we passed the bowl back and forth and then he was like, 'I've been smoking all day, go ahead and enjoy.' 'There's pipes everywhere, there's baggies, straws.' …

'I'm his type and pretty much half of the black community is his type - vulnerable, depressed. If you're in a depressive state, that's the energy that feeds him.' …

The 28-year-old said a few days later he left LA and moved to Dallas, to spend time with his brother who was dying from cancer, but soon got a call from Buck asking him to visit. … 'Ed Buck offered to pay for my ticket back to California. He wanted me to come to California for a weekend.' Gagnon said he took Buck up on his offer, but this time when he came over Buck wanted to inject him with a syringe of crystal meth, known among drug users as 'pointing.' The 28-year-old said that before meeting Buck he had never injected crystal meth. …

'He has this big black old school flashlight. It unscrews and there's a whole bunch of drugs in there.' … 'He always told me 'in my house I'm the only person that can administrate.' He was the only person who would give the drugs to anybody. 'He only smoked. He would make a needle to inject himself but he would inject me first. I never saw him inject himself in front of me. These are his drugs, his needles.'

Gagnon said that Buck injected the crystal meth into the vein on his arm and he reacted badly to the drugs and became aggressive. 'It hit me, my body went to tingling, my mouth went to jittery. I got so high that I was enraged, I cussed him out and made a big scene at his apartment and he pretty much put me out,' he said. 'I changed back into my clothes, he paid me $250 and I left.' …

four months later, around September 22, Buck offered again to pay Gagnon to come over to his house. He said this time the atmosphere was tense. … Gagnon said: 'I had called him and said, 'So did you kill the boy?' 'He was nonchalant, he changed the subject. He wouldn't answer anything about Gemmel Moore.' He added: 'The third time I met Buck, I was stupid and dumb and wanted to go back for more. I wanted to get him to admit that he had something to do with Gemmel Moore's death. I went back for more trouble and fell back into his s***.' …

Gagnon said when he arrived he didn't like the atmosphere. 'Buck wasn't himself. He was too jittery, like he had a task to do but was procrastinating. He was determined to finish something, but I don't know what he was determined to do.' … Buck offered him a drink of Gatorade. When he drank it, Gagnon said, he began to feel as if he'd been drugged, and suspects the drink contained a drug such as GHB. 'We did the usual, I changed into his clothes. I drank most of the Gatorade then within a few minutes, I felt woozy. I didn't feel like my normal self.

'I could barely keep my eyes open. I was real drowsy and limp. I was laying in the middle of the floor.' … 'Buck said, 'You're not high enough for me, I want you to do another point.' I was so blurred in the situation. He actually pointed me and when he injected me with crystal meth, my body heated up like fire. 'My head felt like it was going to explode and I just felt so dizzy and limp. 'My body was numb, I could barely move. It was a matter of seconds. My speech started slurring, I was in and out,' …

'I really thought I was the next person that was going be dead at Ed Buck's house.' … 'He took my phone. I was so scared. I felt the sensation of death. I felt death walked into my soul.' … Gagnon said that he dragged himself to his feet because he knew he had to drink water. 'I went and drunk out of the faucet. I found my phone and called my mother. I said, 'Mom, I feel like he's going to kill me, I think I'm going to die.' She said, baby, I love you.'

Gagnon said he lay praying for two and a half hours while Buck wandered around the apartment, seemingly unconcerned. When he came down from his high, Gagnon told Buck he wanted to go outside for a walk. The Democrat donor gave Gagnon $60 and told him to get a drink at a nearby bar. Instead, Gagnon went to a corner store and bought a taser and two knives to protect himself. While he was out, he noticed Buck's friend and neighbor following him. He recognized the man from his previous visits, describing him as white, in his 50s, about 6'4' and weighing around 215 lbs. Gagnon said the neighbor had also been calling Buck every two or three hours, checking Buck was drinking enough water and eating. …

Gagnon said he did not report Buck to the police at the time because he had no other way to pay for a plane ticket home and he felt extremely paranoid about what had happened. He said: 'He has taken pictures with Hillary Clinton, who knows who he knows? … 'It frustrated me when I heard about the second body. … It's going to take for him to kill a whole village before they do anything about it.' Gagnon believes the Democrat donor should be arrested. 'He needs to be put away for the rest of his life. I want to see Ed Buck prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law,' he said.

'These boys are not just dying of an overdose, it's not a coincidence another person has died in the same home during the same situation. 'This man is a murderer and he's getting away with it and it's all because the media wants to sweep it under the rug because he's this rich, white [liberal democratic donor] man. 'If my body was a little bit weaker, I wouldn't be here. I wouldn't be telling you the story. I would have died at Ed Buck's house that night.' …

Since the investigation was launched, a number of other men of color have come forward to claim political power player Buck … paid them to take drugs. The coroner's report, from July 31, 2017, noted that investigators spoke with a woman who knew Moore, who said that the prostitute had told her about another man he knew that had been tied up by Buck 'over a year ago', who then 'held him against his will at the residence in West Hollywood.'

The report also stated that Buck's apartment was full of drug paraphernalia including dozens of syringes containing brown residue, five glass pipes with white residue, several baggies of white power, and a bag of a 'crystal-like' substance, such as crystal meth.

Pages from Moore's personal journal allege that Buck had a strange fascination with watching others take drugs, and had even supplied him his first hit of crystal meth. …

I don't understand, the police found hard drug paraphernalia at this guys house and he's not in jail? Maybe white male privilege does exists, or its most likely just corrupt democrat donor privilege, I bet he has dirt on the DA and judges.
I just want objectivity on this forum and will point out flawed sources or points of view at my leisure.

Prominent political activist Ed Buck is facing new legal troubles as the mother of a man who died in his home has filed an amended civil suit accusing Buck of human trafficking and engaging in revenge porn, CBS Los Angeles reports.

"The new amendment is about making sure no box is left unchecked when it comes to all of the crimes that Ed Buck has committed," Jasmyne Cannick, an advocate for the family of 26-year-old Gemmel Moore who was found dead of a drug overdose in Buck's home in 2017.
After the district attorney's office declined to file criminal charges citing insufficient evidence, a wrongful death civil lawsuit was filed.

Now attorneys for Moore's mother have filed an amendment to that lawsuit. It accuses Buck of human trafficking and engaging in revenge porn by making and sharing a video of his alleged "meth-fueled sexual encounters" with Moore.
"Information we received from other victims of Ed Buck that Ed Buck loves to take pictures of these young men, loves to take videos of them in their inebriated state," Cannick said.
The amended complaint alleges that Buck "regularly solicits sex from black men in exchange for temporary housing and/or monetary compensation."
"Gemmel Moore at the time was 26 years old and Ed Buck flew him here from Texas," Cannick said. "And within 24 hours, he died of a crystal meth overdose."

The case against high-dollar political donor Ed Buck has been sent to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office, CBS2’s David Goldstein has learned. “Mr Buck, are you concerned you may be arrested now that the case has been presented to the DA’s office,” Goldstein asked while knocking on Buck’s door.
The news of the case transfer comes six months after 55-year-old Timothy Dean was found dead early Jan. 7 at Buck’s apartment in the 1200 block of Laurel Avenue. It was the second death from an accidental methamphetamine overdose at the same apartment in less than 18 months and prompted renewed calls for a criminal prosecution of Buck.
No charges were filed at the time, but the district attorney’s office is continuing to work the case.

Felony charges were filed Tuesday against Democratic political activist and noted donor Ed Buck, after two men overdosed on illegal drugs and died inside his apartment in West Hollywood, the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office said.
Buck was charged with operating a drug house and providing methamphetamine to a man who survived an overdose Sept. 11.

I knew two guys who went to prison for selling meth. One was clean. One was not so clean, took him another ten years.
Anyways, I, as a new libertarian at the time, said I thought all drugs should be legal.
They said, even Meth? I said, yeah. They said, "you're crazy".

I have come to hate the drug, and its habitual users.
Worse than drunks, yeah, that $#@!ty.
Just saying, you wont ever see me volunteering at Methfest, demanding it be legalized.

Unless this is really fakenews, can Republicans become Mega Democrats Donors so seemlessly?

    The Buck Never Stops...updated.

Those of you who were in Arizona in the 1980s will remember Ed Buck as the guy who led the Mecham Recall movement. Well, he got another 15 minutes of fame yesterday when he heckled Meg Whitman at a West Hollywood Campaign event and New Jersey Governor Chris Christie jumped off the stage to tell him to be more polite.
More info on Buck here. Here's how he described himself when he ran for the West Hollywood City Council.

An early AIDS activist, Ed Buck organized the first AIDS education program in Arizona. As a successful businessman, Ed pioneered the use of electronic information services. Since retiring to West Hollywood in 1991, Ed has been a volunteer for animal rescue. He has fostered over 50 dogs in the last four years, finding good homes for them all. Concurrently, he has been a vocal supporter of ethics and campaign finance reform.

UPDATE: One of the commenters to this post reminded me that Ed Buck was described at the time as a "Republican Businessman." I had forgotten that part. Here's how Time magazine described him in 1987.

...Ed Buck, a gay Phoenix businessman and conservative Republican who launched the recall movement last July...

Current Trump/Republican MEGA donor Sheldon Adelson apparently used to be or still is a Democrat, so such conversions perhaps are not too unusual.
