During a speech at a forum hosted by the American Zionist Movement (AZM) on Capitol Hill on Wednesday, Schumer said that during a routine workout at the Senate gym this morning, he “lobbied Rand Paul to let this go, and I think we will be able to work something out.
    Don't let it go, Rand.

Paul came under fire from AIPAC and other pro-Israel groups for placing a hold on the security pact, which would formalize the
10-year Memorandum of Understanding reached between the U.S. and Israel in 2016. To date, Paul has remained opposed to Senate leadership attempts to reach unanimous consent on the bipartisan measure.
I don't understand. I guess I should read the memorandum.

Hold the line Rand, don't cave in to Smucky Shumer

In historic move, Sen. Rand Paul places hold on $38 billion to Israel

Rand Paul, U.S. Senator from Kentucky. Anyone who wishes Senator Paul to continue his historic action to block aid to Israel should email him and/or phone him: 202-224-4343.

In a historic move, Senator Rand Paul (R-Ky) may filibuster against massive aid package to Israel. AIPAC issues action alert to pressure Paul, predicts Congress will pass the aid package – largest in US history

(November 21, 2018 / JNS) Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.), who has a history of being skeptical about U.S. taxpayer funds going towards the Jewish state, has placed a hold on the U.S.-Israel Security Assistance Authorization Act of 2018, which provides Israel with $38 billion in military aid over the next decade.

[Editor’s note: This equals approximately $23,000 for every Jewish Israeli family of four. The bill number is ‘‘S. 2497]

This has caused backlash from organizations such as the American Israel Public Affairs Committee.

“This bipartisan legislation authorizes full funding of security assistance to ensure Israel has the means to defend itself,” AIPAC posted on Facebook with a link to “urge Sen. Paul to stop blocking aid to Israel.”

[Editor’s Note: Israel has one of the most powerful militaries in the world, including 100 to 400 nuclear weapons.]

What does your gut tell you Brian? Will Rand give in to the neocons and remove his hold or will he continue to take the flak on the chin and tough it out. I hope Rand stands firm

I stand with Rand , we have people living in the streets, why on earth
should we throw billions away on Israel, a very wealthy country.
Instead of learning from Hitler's mistakes Israel seems bent on repeating
them, sadly Trump gives them a free pass.
Let us become truly self sufficient, bring our troops home from around
the globe, protect our borders, and restore sovereignty from Israel's
    ever tightening noose.

I don't know if it's true but I read the other day that since Israel hasn't joined the NNPT, any "aid" provided to Israel is illegal.

    An article about the allegation:
    https://www.timesofisrael.com/lawsui...s-atomic-pact/

A lawsuit filed in a US district court claims that American aid to Israel is illegal under a law passed in the 1970s that prohibits aid to nuclear powers who don’t sign the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty.

Grant Smith, director of the Institute for Research: Middle Eastern Policy, who filed the lawsuit Monday with a Washington DC court, said the United States has given Israel an estimated $234 billion in foreign aid since Congress in 1976 passed the International Security Assistance and Arms Export Control Act, with its stipulation regarding countries that did not sign the NPT, according to Courthouse News. ........
Smith says his digging under the Freedom of Information Act brought a version of the document to light that was “nearly 90 percent redacted.”

“This is an Energy Department directive that demands imprisonment for any federal official or contractor who even mentions that Israel might have a nuclear weapons program,” Smith said in an interview. more
