Thumbs down Biometric check in goes live

    https://www.usatoday.com/story/trave...rt/2145655002/

“Nearly all 25,000 customers who travel through ATL Terminal F each week are choosing this optional process, with less than 2 percent opting out,” Delta said in a statement. “And, based on initial data, the facial recognition option is saving an average of two seconds for each customer at boarding, or nine minutes when boarding a wide body aircraft.”

Delta plans to make its Detroit hub the next of its terminals to get the “curb to gate” biometric option.

Here it is. After planes, comes trains, Ferry's, cruise ships, amusement parks, ...

We're being governed ruled by a geriatric Alzheimer patient/puppet whose strings are being pulled by an elitist oligarchy who believe they can manage the world... imagine the utter maniacal, sociopathic hubris!

Wow, an honor! And people really love it! It even saves a whopping two seconds per passenger at a cost of...well, we don’t worry about costs anymore LOL

I am glad that sooo many are on-board (pun intended) with this. It will ensure that freedom-loving folks who value their privacy and freedom won’t want to fly anymore (see, you do get a choice!), thereby leaving more room on planes for like-minded folks who embrace it!

It’s no problemo that trump doesn’t understand the Bill of Rights enough to halt this anti-American process of “papers please” - this is much better than Hitler’s version because the data is stored indefinitely!

Ther are too many libertarian naysayers and doubters here, this progress avtually brings us closer to our closest ally in mideast and in line with MAGA's pledge to support state's policing appartus.

Inside Israel's Booming Business of Biometric ID

Technological breakthroughs have led to a raft of developments in biometric identification, from fingerprint censors in smartphones to palm readers in airports. But is the fear of identity theft infringing upon personal privacy?

This would be especially helpful from security standpoint to manage increased external risks if US is to engage in military conflicts with Iran/Syria or other countries in mideast that don't get along with our closest allies.

It was probably posted in another thread (it's from late October), but it's worth mentioning here:
Today the US Transportation Security Administration released a detailed TSA Biometric Roadmap for Aviation Security & the Passenger Experience, making explicit the goal of requiring mug shots (to be used for automated facial recognition and image-based surveillance and control) as a condition of all domestic or international air travel.

This makes explicit the goal that has been apparent, but only implicit, in the activities and statements of both government agencies and airline and airport trade associations.

It’s a terrifyingly totalitarian vision of pervasive surveillance of air travelers at, quite literally and deliberately, every step of their journey, enabled by automated facial recognition and by the seamless collaboration of airlines and airport operators that will help the government surveil their customers ...

Instead of facial recognition in order to reasonable protect privacy, iris scans could be an option. These are specific to the individual but wearing sunglasses they cannot be seen or read. I'd say that should be the reasonable alternative.

At Beijing airport, first my passport gets scanned, a door opens, then my thumb gets scanned with photo taken, then the second door opens.

After that, I am free to shop to my heart's content and buy cheep knockoffs.

Saves a lot of time verses the old way of waiting in line.
