Maduro Approaches U.N. for Food Assistance

Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro has asked the United Nations Development Program to provide food assistance to the country, Panorama reported Nov. 13.

This development indicates a change in the political status quo as Maduro has previously opposed any outside assistance.

Since 2014, Maduro has staunchly opposed U.N. assistance to Venezuela as it could represent an admission of government failure and mismanagement.

I am shocked that he didn't just ask us to lift all those embargoes Che keeps insisting are the primary cause of their economic snafu. Having said that, Trump is probably the best negotiator we have seen in decades in office. Let's see what kind of a deal he can work out.
