Michael Avenatti Is in Police Custody in Los Angeles Following Domestic Violence Allegation

Michael Avenatti, who skyrocketed to fame as a chief critic of President Donald Trump and the lawyer for porn actress Stormy Daniels, was taken into police custody Wednesday following an allegation of domestic violence, a law enforcement official told The Associated Press. Police had responded to a domestic violence incident Tuesday and took a report, but Avenatti was taken into custody Wednesday, the official said.
The official wasn't authorized to discuss the matter publicly and spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity.
Avenatti remained in custody Wednesday afternoon and a call and text message seeking comment weren't immediately returned.

Update: After Michael Avenatti's estranged wife issued a statement through her attorney Thursday night claiming that she "was not subject to any such incident on Tueasday night," TMZ updated their report, writing: "We were initially told by our sources the alleged victim was Avenatti's estranged wife. We now know it was not. The incident involved a different woman."

Since sending out his first trial balloon announcing his intention to seek the 2020 Democratic nomination for president back in October, a lot has changed in the life of "creepy porn lawyer" Michael Avenatti.
And most of that change has been bad.
First, he was accused by his 24-year-old actress girlfriend of domestic abuse and was arrested by the LAPD. Then his firm was evicted from its office. And his star client, Stormy Daniels, distanced herself from him during an interview, where she also said he launched a 'legal defense fund' in her name without her permission.

And though the (formerly) wealthy California lawyer has never demonstrated a pragmatic view of reality, it seems he is preemptively giving up on his dream of challenging President Trump for the presidency in 2020. In a statement released Tuesday, Avenatti said that "after consulting with my family" he no longer intends to seek the 2020 nomination.

Michael Avenatti, the attorney of pornographic actress Stormy Daniels, will not face charges in connection to a November 2018 domestic violence arrest, the Los Angeles city attorney’s office announced Friday.

“The City Attorney’s Office has reviewed all of the reports in this matter and considered all of the evidence,” a statement from the Attorney’s Office reads.
“This matter has been set for city attorney hearings in which both the victim and the suspect will have an opportunity to be heard on different days. The victim will be advised of services available to her. The suspect will be informed that although we decline to file charges at this time, this matter remains open and we may file charges at any time prior to the expiration of the statute of limitations.”
