    if following reports are confirmed?
Even if in this case it turned out to be not true, such scenario does not seem unlikely for some desperate, violent crooks, organized crime, mafia types actors etc especially in high stake situations:

His "interrogation, torture and killing were audio recorded and sent to both his phone and to iCloud," Turkish media reported.
The men partaking in his imprisonment were also reportedly recorded speaking.
According to the news outlet, the audio file was sent to Khashoggi’s phone, which he left with his fiancée before entering the consulate. That is how Turkish security officials were reportedly able to find the audio.

The newspaper reported that some of the files were deleted after his attackers tried and failed to enter a password, eventually using Khashoggi’s fingerprint to unlock the watch.

Features that make it very easy for bad actors to steal valueable data of their products owners. If bad actors can in instant unlock & access provate computing/communication devices of CEOs, Senators, other gov/public officials etc without knowing password.. higher risk to physical well being of device owners also.

You're assuming a highly informed userbase in some ideal libertine society with free choices, whereas I'm coming from present world regulated society where companies can get sued when losses occur after normal use of their products.
Increasingly many of such fatures are not optional, although not sure in this case.
