Banksy painting self-destructs just after it was auctioned for $1.4 million

One of Banksy’s paintings self-destructed just after it was auctioned
The painting sold for $1.4 million before it shredded itself

On Friday, auction house Sotheby’s sold a painting by British graffiti artist Banksy for $1.4 million. The piece was a copy of one of the artist’s most famous works, an image of a girl releasing a red balloon, and moments after it was sold, the painting self-destructed, shredding itself while onlookers watched.

In a video, Banksy explained that he had secretly installed a shredder in the frame of the painting, titled “Girl with Balloon,” to destroy it if it ever went up for auction.

Now, the piece, spray paint and acrylic on canvas and mounted (obviously) in the artist’s own frame, has doubled in value according to the Evening Standard. The painting’s new but surely iconic place in art history may see the price only increase further in the coming months.

Perfectly encapsulates why the State shouldn't exist. Thinking people with power will obey "the rules" the way you want is delusional.

Thinking the state can be kept from existing is delusional, the best you can do is create one that is easier to control than those that others will create if you don't.

    Or phucking ignore it.
Stay out of its way and live my life.
Liberty is lost through complacency and a subservient mindset. When we accept or even welcome automobile checkpoints, random searches, mandatory identification cards, and paramilitary police in our streets, we have lost a vital part of our American heritage. America was born of protest, revolution, and mistrust of government. Subservient societies neither maintain nor deserve freedom for long.

I'm going to watch Leviathan punished,,, Keep your fear.
In that day the LORD will take His sharp, great, and mighty sword, and bring judgment on Leviathan, the fleeing serpent—Leviathan, the coiling serpent—and He will slay the dragon of the sea.

and that is tattooed on my back,,

Except that ancient and modern history is full of societies where the state has not existed. Thinking that you can control something which has turned into a tool of mass murder and mass oppression in every example of its use isn't just delusional, it is madness.

Fascists always think of themselves as the great hero while murdering millions of innocents.

Just another statist delusion, one needed to justify being a rapist, violator, oppressor, and murderer.

No it isn't unless you craft a definition of the state that is deceptive.
