Somalis Riot at Minnesota Amusement Park, Forcing Evacuation

On Saturday September 22, 2018 at the ValleyFair amusement park in Shakopee, Minnesota, police and emergency responders had to evacuate all guests after a mob of Somali teenagers and men rushed through security and caused several violent fights to break out inside the park.
According to eyewitnesses who were at the park to celebrate Law Enforcement Appreciation Day, a group of nearly 100 Somali men mob rushed past security and amusement park staffers at the front entrance, and proceeded to run through the park and instigate fights among themselves and with guests.
As several violent fights broke out, guests began to panic as reports of people being stabbed and shot began to circulate.


Cliff Hallberg, who was inside the park with his children at the time the fights broke out said it was very frightening for his children. “I saw about 60 Somali teenagers push their way through lines and scream at guests.”

Hallberg said tickets to the ValleyScare Halloween themed amusement park are usually expensive, which is why he attended on LEO appreciation day, as he himself is a member of law enforcement and received discounted tickets.
“I’ll take my kids back to ValleyFair someday when I can afford it. I’m just glad I got my kids out safely,” Hallberg said.
The violent fights erupted during Law enforcement appreciation day when the park was full of police officers and other members of law enforcement who received discounted tickets so that their families could enjoy the amusement park. An estimated 263 police officers responded to the fights inside the park, according to witnesses.
“This looked like a targeted attack on law enforcement,” Hallberg added.
Hallberg also told Big League Politics that his car was spit on and that the rioters were setting off car alarms and causing chaos in the parking lot, all of which can be seen in video that was exclusively obtained by this reporter.


In the video, a woman who was evacuated and filming from inside her car can be heard saying, “Oh my god! We are never going to make it out of here.”

Following reports of the fights, ValleyFair tweeted, “There were incidents on September 22 at Valleyfair that required assistance on property from Shakopee police officers and were quickly addressed. The safety of our guests is our top priority.”

What ValleyFair failed to mention in their tweet is that the fights were so violent that Shakopee police officers had to evacuate the entire park which was full of children. The spokesperson for the park also never disclosed that a police K-9 unit was called to the scene, ambulances and firetrucks responded, and a police helicopter was ordered to fly above the park as people were being evacuated, all of which was caught on video.
A Facebook post posted by one of the ValleyFair attendees noted,

“Just left ValleyFair. Several Somalians fighting, knocking over Halloween props, knocking people over Halloween props, knocking people over terrorizing young children. ValleyFair shut down. Somalians pushing kids over. Running from police in the parking lot in circles. I stood in front of about 15 lost and terrified young children until their parents could find them.”

After guests were evacuated, ValleyFair park remained closed for the rest of the night, something the amusement park failed to mention when they referred to the violent fights on Twitter as a “previously mentioned incident”.

According to eyewitnesses and police officers who wish to remain anonymous, they believe the media is covering up the fact that the violent rioters were Somali men because the media and police don’t want to offend the Muslim Somali population or influence the upcoming election.
Officers in Minnesota have told this reporter that they are often told to avoid using the word Somali when discussing crimes committed by members of the Somali population because police and local Democrats have asked them to “stand down” in an effort to create positive community relations between Minnesota natives and the continually increasing Muslim Somali “refugee” population.

VERIFY: What we know about the Valleyfair evacuation

SHAKOPEE, Minn. - An evacuation at Valleyfair on Saturday night led to confusion, concern and many questions among guests and KARE 11 viewers.

Common questions included whether weapons made their way into the park and played a role in the evacuation. There were also numerous questions about whether gangs were involved.

First, here's what Shakopee Police are saying about the decision and what led to it:

"Late (Saturday) night, officers from Shakopee Police assigned to Valleyfair responded to reports of multiple fights. The number of individuals running throughout the park increased substantially and was difficult to control. Due to the large number of altercations, it was decided to clear the park of all guests. Officers from Shakopee and surrounding communities ushered out all guests from the park.

"There have been no reported injuries or property from (Saturday's) incident. There have been some comments about a knife being used in a fight, but at this time we have no evidence of any weapons being used in these altercations.

"We can report that three individuals were cited for minor offenses."

Despite the statement, questions continued to pour into KARE 11, Shakopee Police and Valleyfair offices in the following days.

Many of the questions stemmed from a series of unsubstantiated claims detailed in a blog post (and later shared on Facebook). The blogger, citing anonymous witnesses, alleged that the violence was prompted by "Somali gangs" and later referred to the incident as a "Somali Riot."


The Shakopee Police Department responded directly to those claims on its Facebook page, stating, "No it wasn’t a Somalian riot". The department went on to say, "We had no evidence whatsoever that there was any specific gang affiliation with this incident."

KARE 11 reached out to several people who were at Valleyfair during the evacuation on Saturday. None of them reported seeing anything resembling gang activity or riots.

"We didn't even realize anything had happened until the lights in the park came on," said Michael Marshall, who was at the park with Kerry Dikken and captured cell phone video of the evacuation and one person being taken away by police. "I didn't see any gang-type activity at all."

A Valleyfair spokesperson told KARE 11 that they have no knowledge of a knife making it into the park, and reminded the public that they have security screening in place at the entrance to ensure everyone remains safe. They also issued the following statement:

"Safety is our top priority. We are continuously monitoring and re-evaluating our operations to make whatever adjustments are appropriate. In addition, we will continue the strong partnership with local law enforcement agencies to provide a safe and hospitable environment for our guests and associates. As referenced in Valleyfair’s park policies and guidelines, Valleyfair does not tolerate guests who fight and/or harass other guests while on our property. People who engage this behavior are subject to being ejected and potentially banned from the park, and may be subject to arrest by local police."

The Valleyfair spokesperson said they cannot comment on specifics of any security adjustments that are being made. Marshall and Dikken say they still feel safe going to the park and will continue to, though they are relieved to hear some upgrades might be made.

"That night, it just seemed like they were pushing everyone through to get everyone in as fast as they could," Dikken said.

"They should definitely take the responsibility to make sure they have enough security staff on hand," Marshall said. "Just for everybody's safety."

Two people were injured Sunday night after an “interrupted theft” led to a stabbing at the Mall of America, police said — an incident that caused a wave of commotion at the mall, which was already geared up for the holiday season.

The incident took place about 6:45 p.m. Sunday in the men’s department of the Macy’s at the megamall in Bloomington, Minn.

The suspect tried to take something from a customer who had briefly left his belongings inside a first-floor fitting room, Bloomington Police Chief Jeff Potts said at a news conference.

“You know how you go into the fitting room and you change your clothes, you go out maybe to show your family?” Potts told reporters. “It sounds like what happened is, when [the customer] went out to show his family the items that he was trying on, the suspect was back in the fitting room and attempted to take some property.”

Potts added that the suspect was attempting to steal items that belonged to the customer, not things that were property of the department store.


After the customer returned to the fitting room and discovered the attempted theft, the robber pulled out a knife and stabbed the customer, police said.

One of the customer’s family members heard the altercation and intervened, also getting stabbed in the process.

Both victims were taken to a hospital with stab wounds that were not life-threatening, police said.

People who were with the victims subdued the suspect and disarmed him, the authorities said.

Police arrested 20-year-old Mahad Abdiaziz Abdirahaman of Minneapolis in the stabbings. He was being held on two counts of first-degree assault and had “superficial” injuries.

Shortly after the stabbing was reported, several police cars converged on the Macy’s, according to photos taken by local reporters.

Kim Schwieters, who was near the mall-side entrance of Macy’s with her children at the time, told the Minneapolis Star-Tribune that officers began yelling at other shoppers to clear the area and locked down the first floor of the department store after they arrived.


“We saw two cops running toward Macy’s,” Schwieters told the newspaper. “By the time we got to the main area — the men’s department is to the right — more police started running in with their guns drawn. My daughter could see people lying on the ground who had been stabbed.”

One of her daughters, 16-year-old Maddie Schwieters, told KARE 11 that her family was going to visit a mall Santa Claus when the incident took place.

“Usually in the mall you think, ‘Oh, someone got into a fight’ or something,” Maddie Schwieters told the news station. “You never really think something will go down that’s this horrific. The whole situation, it kind of happened so fast that you don’t really know what’s going on until someone comes past you and is like, ‘This guy has a knife. Get away.’ ”

At 5.6 million square feet, the Mall of America is the largest shopping mall in the country. It recently celebrated its 25-year anniversary.

The Mall of America issued a statement Sunday confirming the incident.

“This evening during an interrupted theft inside Macy’s Mall of America, two people were stabbed and sustained non-life threatening injuries,” the statement said. “One person is in custody and Bloomington Police is conducting the ongoing investigation. Our thoughts are with the families involved.”


Bloomington Deputy Police Chief Mike Hartley told The Washington Post that as officers responded to reports of a mall stabbing, there were initial concerns it could have been similar to what took place last year in St. Cloud, Minn.

Last September, 20-year-old Dahir Adan went on a stabbing rampage at the Crossroads Center mall in St. Cloud, about 80 miles from the Mall of America. The St. Cloud attack left 10 people injured; an off-duty police officer shot and killed Adan inside a Macy’s store.

An Islamic State-affiliated news agency claimed Adan was “a soldier of the Islamic State.” Local and federal authorities investigated the St. Cloud attack as “a potential act of terrorism” but have not linked him with any extremist groups, according to Twincities.com.

Saint Paul Minnesota is a hotbed of racially driven black mob violence, but the media work diligently to keep it hidden. Recently the frequency of the attacks has increased in severity and now even the local media are forced to discuss it.

SAINT PAUL – A string of group [BLACK] attacks has taken place in downtown St. Paul in recent weeks. Last Monday, a 23-year-old [WHITE] man and his 56-year-old friend were brutally assaulted by six [BLACK] people in a skyway downtown near Cedar Street.

According to police, a restaurant near the new St. Paul Saints stadium was also rushed by a group of about nine [BLACK] people who started eating and drinking from the [WHITE] customers’ tables.

Why are pandas black and white?

Minneapolis police want you to know race has nothing to do with an epidemic of violent crime in their downtown.

Same for crime reporter Matt McKinney: The recent increase in what he calls “flash mob” violence and mayhem is “random” and “no other real pattern emerges” and the “motivation for the attack remains unclear.”

But more and more people in Minneapolis are connecting the violence with groups of blacks marauding through the downtown; beating, hurting, destroying and stealing. Sometimes right in front of police.

A lot of it on YouTube. With lots of witnesses – 15 to 20 times over the last year.

The attacks are part of a nationwide pattern of hundreds of episodes of unreported racial violence and lawlessness found in more than 50 cities over the last three years.

In Minneapolis, a headline from the Star Tribune tell part of the story, but conceals the rest: “Flash mob actions worry Minnesota police.” McKinney fills in some of the details about one of the incidents from March 2012:

“We were just biking, the three of us, having some laughs and enjoying the night,” said the cyclist, who didn’t want his name used out of fear for his safety. It was 7:45 p.m. and the street was crowded with people enjoying the unusually warm evening, he said.

Suddenly “some kid” ran up to the man’s friend and punched him in the face, breaking his jaw. Another eight to 10 youths surrounded the cyclists, yelling and trying to provoke a fight.

Two police officers had been watching seven youths at a bus stop when they saw them “suddenly surge” toward the cyclists.

As the officers gave chase, the group fled with one victim’s bike. They ran through the seating area at Oceanaire’s patio, picking objects off the tables to throw at one of the bicyclists running after them.

Eventually four people were arrested, all black.

The bikers got hurt, but they got off easy compared to the St. Patrick’s day mauling 20 black people inflicted on a Minneapolis graphic artist named Pieter. He suffered serious brain injuries and now has no short-term memory. A local bank has turned videos of the crime over to the police. He is afraid to use his last name.

An hour before he was beat and kicked into the Intensive Care Unit, 20 black people assaulted an out-of-town couple at the exact same intersection. The Star Tribune may be squeamish about reporting the race of the criminals, but City Pages is not:


Melissa screamed as three separate youths came at Kirk, throwing punches. Kirk says he was able to dodge the blows. He remembers one of the assailants smiling while he threw punches, “like it was fun.” As people on the street started to take notice of the attack, the mob dispersed, leaving Kirk one-on-one with a man he says was over 6 feet tall.

“I dodged several of his punches before he ran off,” Kirk said, adding that he himself didn’t punch anyone. “I believe that if it wasn’t for my wife’s screaming I would have been seriously injured.” Thankfully, he ended up with nothing more than a swollen neck. Melissa, a 33-year-old school teacher, was pushed, and one of the assailants burned her hand with a cigarette, she says.

After the mob dispersed, Kirk and Melissa made their way back to the Marquette. There, they talked to a police officer about the incident.

Wrote Melissa in an email: The “cop wasn’t that interested in taking a report, since we didn’t have descriptions – just African-American…[I] wonder how many people have been attacked, since our story isn’t even part of the stats.”

Over the past year, the Minneapolis area has been the scene of more than a dozen other examples of large scale racial attacks that are known.

A few days later, a gang of 20 black women beat white woman after she confronted them about harassing her child.

A few weeks later, a group of black people attacked a mobile alcoholic beverage cart in Minneapolis – stealing, threatening. The newspapers dutifully reported the crime, and dutifully ignored the race of the attackers.

Except for the University of Minnesota newspaper, which in its early editions identified the attackers by race, but removed it in later editions.

Which is how it should be, said Minneapolis police spokesman William Palmer: “The MPD does not track arrestees by race,” said Palmer. “And frankly, no, it doesn’t matter. We arrest and prepare criminal cases for consideration of prosecution for those people who choose to break the law. Race has nothing to do with it.”

But the city does keep track of the race of officers in its affirmative action reporting and recruiting. According to the city website, “The City of Minneapolis is aware of its commitment as an equal opportunity employer and the efforts necessary to meet the responsibilities outlined in the Affirmative Action Plan. The City’s Department of Human Resources serves as a liaison through its ‘Connecting with the Communities We Serve’ program and maintains contact with the following community-sponsored action groups” including the Black Story Tellers Alliance, African Community Services, Minneapolis Urban League, Minnesota Multicultural Development Center, and other race-based groups.

The city also has a policy to “intensively recruit protected class persons,” including black people. And if they are having trouble qualifying for a job, the city will provide tutoring and change certification procedures to help select more “protected class persons.”

Blogger Neal Krasnoff says the violence is more widespread than the police or media are talking about:

“One of my friends was robbed at Nicollet and 7th. They harassed her, then one mutt knocked her down, pounded her head against the sidewalk, then took off with her cell phone. The perps are – yes, you and I guessed correctly – Male/Black/18-35. She’s the fifth person in her circle of friends to be attacked.”



The Star Tribune is loathe to discuss race. But many of the black people involved in the mayhem are not: They use YouTube to brag about their illegal exploits, as appears in the following video. Many other videos cannot be embedded because of the violence and language included.



Videos of groups of violent black people in Minneapolis are so numerous that some are even set to music.

McKinney and the police are not willing to talk about violence and how race is a part of it. But the readers of the paper, bloggers, and talk radio are.

“Let’s stop being so P.C. about all this,” said one reader of the Star Tribune. “It’s a racial thing, isn’t it? Isn’t it black youth who are the ones committing the vast majority of these downtown crimes, and aren’t they the ones harassing people downtown? Will this comment be censored? Isn’t what I’m saying factual, though, censored or not?”

Commenters on the Star-Tribune’s flash mob stories may be split over the significance of the paper refusing to report the race of the rioters. Some call for more jobs for minorities. Others say that noticing the rioters are black is racist.

Others point out race-conscious coverage of black ministers, black teachers, and other black institutions. They wonder why it is acceptable to do hundreds of stories about everything in the black community except for large groups of black criminals creating danger and havoc in downtown Minneapolis.
