U-turn on multiculturalism? Danish public broadcaster told to stress importance of Christianity

    https://www.rt.com/news/438881-denma...y-integration/

New guidelines for the Danish public broadcaster DR have put an emphasis on its highlighting the roots in Christianity of the country’s society, instead of multiculturalism and integration, which DR had been promoting.
The new contract with the state broadcaster was published by the Danish Ministry of Culture on Tuesday. Apart from budget cuts, which could mean up to 400 jobs losses, the document signals a huge change in broadcaster’s programming.

The contract states that the DR must make it clear that Danish society is based on principles of “democracy and has its roots in Christianity.” Previous issues of the contract had stated the broadcaster should “work for the promotion of integration in Danish society.”

The vague “integration” reference has been dropped and now the broadcaster's mission is described as being to “promote a Denmark based on community, built on values of democracy, equality and free speech.”

Media policy in Denmark is established through political agreement, between the government and the parties in the Folketing (Parliament). The new agreement (Mediepolitisk aftale) will cover the period 2019-2023, and will have a mid-term assessment of its effectiveness.

Credit for the new wording in the contract with an emphasis on Christianity is being taken by the anti-immigration Danish People's Party (DF), which campaigned to highlight Danish culture in the new government media policy agreement.

“This is a tightening-up we have had put in relative to the previous wording, which only obliged DR to particularly recognize Christian cultural legacy. We felt that was too weak. That's why we demanded this specification, which makes it clear that DR must present Christian cultural heritage to a greater degree,” DF's representative, Morten Marinus, told Politiken on Tuesday.

While welcomed by the anti-immigrant political establishment, the wording of the new agreement was slammed by the traditional parties. “The DF influence is clear and I think it is an incorrect prioritization of conservative values. It's another step towards a political agenda that does not want to integrate people,” Jacob Mark, media spokesperson with the Socialist People's Party, told Politiken.

“This is alarming because the wording is exclusionary in a diverse society like Denmark,” Marianne Jelved, media spokesperson with the Social Liberal (Radikale Venstre) party, added. “Danish society is built on Christian values, but also just as much on free speech and diversity.”

Denmark, which has an office of the Minister for Ecclesiastical Affairs, is predominantly Evangelical Lutheran, with over 75 percent of the population belonging to the Church of Denmark (Dansk Folkekirke), which is the official state religion. Islam constitutes the largest minority religion in the Nordic country and has been growing in recent years following the influx of refugees and migrants into Europe.

Some 306,000 Muslims (about 5.3 percent of the population) lived in Denmark as of October 1, 2017. Back in 2015, before Germany's 'Open Door' refugee policy flooded the country with newcomers, approximately 263,800 Muslims resided in the Scandinavian kingdom. The recent increase in the number of migrants has dramatically affected the socio-economic landscape of the country with a population of roughly 5.7 million people.

The pendulum is about to reverse course, it has swung so far one direction that it will result in a wild swing the other way, the "Crusade" to destroy islam is not far off.

That would seem to the direction things are headed.

On the other hand, the West is on the verge of political and economic collapse, and may be in no position to go adventuring on that scale.

After the Reconquista a short period of recovery will come before the "Crusade".

Assuming nationalism continues to advance in Europe, it's not hard to see a situation where either: (a) the EU accepts the scapegoating of Muslims to distract from domestic problems and hold the union together, or (b) the EU breaks up, creating a very real, if currently inconceivable (but ask the Europeans of 1913 about bolts from the blue) risk of another war in Europe.

You could see a combination of both.

A new Danish right-wing party challenging the Danish People’s Party with a harsher immigration policy is moving ahead. In a recent survey, the New Right, as they are called, received 4.6 per cent of votes, according to the Jutland post.
An opinion poll from Norstat shows that the New Right is now larger than the two bourgeois parties, the Conservative People’s Party and the Liberal Alliance. The New Right almost doubled its support since August, when the party at polled 2.7 per cent of support.
The parliamentary elections will be announced by the Danish government by 17 June 2019. It is believed by many experts that they will be held in March or April.
The New Right party was founded in late autumn 2015 and are now campaigning as a national conservative party.

With Pernille Vermund, the popular leader at the forefront, the new bourgeoisie has been passionately critical of the Danish People’s Party. They have accused the DPP of being for the economic leftist and confusing immigration issues.
The main opponent to the Danish People’s Party received 17 per cent in the same survey according to Jyllandsposten.
The New Right recently launched its platform with their immigration policy at the heart. They want to see a total asylum stop with migrants being expelled at their first criminal conviction.
They also want to introduce the requirement that foreigners support themselves and “Muslim welfare migrants” should be deported, according to the party.

The EU must change its immigration policy and get rid of the idea that immigrants should be admitted into the EU and then redistributed between member states.
Immigrants should be kept outside the EU and be helped in their immediate areas. This is the requirement in a new proposal that Denmark and Austria have worked out together, states DR.
It is a radical change in the EU’s immigration policy that Denmark and Austria have put together.
The proposal calls for the EU to abandon the idea that asylum seekers and immigrants should be redistributed between the member states. Instead it introduces policies to help people as close as possible to their homelands.
This was announced by Denmark’s immigration and integration minister Inger Støjberg during a press conference with Austria’s Interior Minister Herbert Kickl in Vienna on Thursday.
In addition, an “investigation centre” should be set up outside the EU.
The aim is both to reduce immigration to Europe, and also to provide better protection for real refugees. According to Denmark and Austria, it is more beneficial to help people in the neighbouring areas.
The proposal also means a more effective remigration.

Criminal migrants awaiting expulsion from Denmark will be held on an isolated island, the Danish government has decided.
The island of Lindholm in Stege Bay, some 80 kilometers south of Copenhagen, will serve as a new detention facility by 2021 – after the tiny slice of land (7 hectares) and existing buildings have been decontaminated of African swine fever, rabies, and a variety of other animal-borne diseases that have been studied there by researchers for over 90 years.
Danish Finance Minister Kristian Jensen told BT that migrants convicted of crimes and returning jihadists will be transferred to Lindholm, where officers and employees of the Prison and Probation Service will oversee operations.
"They will not be in jail," Jensen explained. "There will be a ferry service back and forth to the island, but the ferry will not operate 24 hours a day and you must be at the center at night. Then we have more control of where they are."
The Danish People's Party (Dansk Folkeparti) tweeted their approval of the decision, along with a short cartoon video.
"Expelled, criminal aliens have no reason to be in Denmark. Until we can get rid of them, we now move them out on the island Lindholm in Stege Bay, where they will be obliged to stay at the new exit centre at night. And there will be police present around the clock. Great!"

The news about Lindholm comes shortly after Danish Prime Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen denounced the forcing of 'asylum seekers' upon European countries by international bodies.
"Compelling all EU countries to receive refugees is completely wrong," Rasmussen said during an address to European Parliament last week.
Denmark is currently slated to sign on to the devastating UN Compact on Migration next week, however a growing list of countries are pulling back from the "non-binding" agreement as the deadline nears.
