We care because we're next on the menu. Look at what they did to Flynn, who had stars on his shoulder. What does mean for the mundanes?

Exposing a cabal of non-elected deep state operatives out to ensure everything continues on as business as usual? Nope, nothing a liberty lover should care about there.

Nothing changes. Dammit, pay attention. Government still grows. Regardless of these petty little games they play for the brass ring. Apparently you forgot or got conned into thinking something was different. They don't care about you. Never did. They care about power. Hair Fuhrer, included.

You enjoy your soap opera. Call me when someone makes real cuts to spending. (as opposed to cutting in one place, only to raise it even higher in other politically-favored places)

Palace intrigue IS business as usual.

Ya, it's not that hard to figure out why the deep state doesn't like Trump.

    Bull$#@!.

This just makes it harder for you to make the argument that Trump is deep state and so you made a silly nonsensical post.

Actually it supports the claim that Trump has surrounded himself with Deep State. He hired all those people. He wanted them working for him. "I will only hire the best!"

    Pretty much my POV.

Since it makes such a fuss, it could also be a ruse to take our eyes off of more politics. Maybe Ivanka wrote it- or even Trumpy, himself.

No, sorry zippy, but my brain doesn't fit contradictory statements as well as yours. You said Trump is deep state because he has people in his cabinet who are deep state.

If he has people in the deep state working for him trying to resist him and take him down, then he isn't deep state. If he was, then they would just be cooperating with him and he would be cooperating with them. That doesn't seem to be what is happening at all.

The only thing that has changed is your name for them. Prior to the election, you called them, "The Establishment". They didn't become the "Deep State" until Nov. '16.

That being said, these guys ALWAYS fight amongst themselves for power. ALWAYS. You falsely believe that they are working together from some master plan. The only thing that really unites them is that they like to control things and crave power. They will fight over that power all day long, but will NEVER give it back to the people.

This person is not a leaker of any government wrongdoing and provided zero justification for legal protection. Just the opposite, admitted to undermining our democracy. Should be fired at the least and prosecuted at the worst.

If this was the Obama administration would the response be the same? Prosecute or reward the insider?

If this were the Obama administration things would not have dragged on as long as they have. Republicans tend to lick their wounds and wait for the next election. There will be gripes about concrete policy issues but not this vague nonsensical conspiratorial talk without any evidence relentlessly foisted upon the audience.

The closest the Republicans came to these antics was the birth certificate issue, and it failed to gain any traction so they dropped it. Whether it was true or not, the way people carried on about it became detrimental to the GOP and wasn't having the effect on democrats they thought it might.

We are two years into this presidency and the media has talked about alleged Trump collusion with Russia 25 hours a day, 8 days a week. It's not hurting Trump's image. It just makes the left look incredibly desperate and unhinged.

Trump did say Snowden should be executed.

He viewed Wikileaks as traitors too until he found them useful for his campaign.

This may be what you want, but it is not what Trump wants. What Trump wants is absolute loyalty to himself. What Trump wants is non-transparent government where he reigns unchecked. He also hired these very same people. HE chose John Bolton, etc.

Using government force to sniff out the rat does hurt. It takes away checks on the top executive position and most powerful overall position in the country. When looked at in isolation, sure I have no love lost for this neocon losing his job, HOWEVER not being able to leak such information due to fear of the state is exactly the kind of stuff that I am opposed to.

Finger pointing collectivist tribal nonsense from the chief brainlet of the RPF. "Authoritarianism good for me but not for thee." Trump is trying to create his own "cabal" or whatever, which even if/when it fails, will have laid the groundwork for other people to seize these power grabbing precedents and take things even further in the statist direction where the state and its executives are protected and the citizens are hapless against their tyranny.

Like every president he is trying to create an administration that will work with him to fulfill the campaign promises he made to those that got him elected. The problem is that those that run the admin. day to day just want things to operate as usual and retire with a nice pension.
