    U.S. trade deficit surges to five-month high as exports fall

    The Commerce Department said the trade deficit increased 9.5 percent to $50.1 billion
    as exports of soybeans and civilian aircraft dropped and imports hit a record high.
    The trade gap has now widened for two straight months.

    The tariffs have nothing to do with it, the collapse of foreign currencies is the cause, in the end we will be better off from fighting back in the trade war.

    The dollar soared vs other currencies instead during the month of June, eh? How did the value of the dollar change during that time? Dollar in mid- May was 94. Dollar mid June was 94.79. Dollar mid July 94.51. Pretty flat. https://www.marketwatch.com/investing/index/dxy

    It is strange that the goods which declined in exports were the ones which had tariffs applied to them if it was not due to the tariffs.

    Many things can affect the value of various currencies.
    You tell me what you think caused it.
    On the other hand don't, any explanation you offer will undoubtedly be wrong.
