American manufacturers growing at fastest pace in 14 years

The numbers: American manufacturers are on a roll: Business conditions surged in August to a 14-year high, according to a a survey of industry executives.
The Institute for Supply Management said its manufacturing index jumped to a 14-year high of 61.3% last month from 58.1% in July. Economists surveyed by MarketWatch had forecast the index to total 57.9%.
Readings over 50% indicate more companies are expanding instead of shrinking.

What happened: The ISM’s new-orders index climbed 3.2 points to 65.1% and the employment gauge rose 2 points to 58.5%. Some 16 of the 18 industries tracked by ISM reported expanding in August.
The ISM index is compiled from a survey of executives who order raw materials and other supplies for their companies. The gauge tends to rise or fall in tandem with the health of the economy.
Big picture: Growth in the U.S. economy exploded in the spring and the third quarter that got underway in July is also shaping up to be a good one. The economy is firing on almost all cylinders, though the persistent threat of a broader trade war continues to threaten recent gains.

President Donald Trump has shifted the economy so that once-disregarded blue-collar manufacturing workers are now recovering jobs faster than coastal service-sector employees, the Washington Post acknowledged Sunday.

“Blue-collar jobs are growing at their fastest rate in more than 30 years, helping fuel a hiring boom in many small towns and rural areas that are strong supporters of President Trump ahead of November’s mid-term elections,” said the Post, under the headline “Under Trump, the jobs boom has finally reached blue-collar workers. Will it last?”
    According to the Post:
Rural employment grew at an annualized rate of 5.1 percent in the first quarter. Smaller metro areas grew 5.0 percent. That’s significantly larger than the 4.1 percent growth seen in large urban areas that recovered earlier from the Great Recession, according to an analysis by the Brookings Institution’s Metropolitan Policy Program of a separate set of Labor Department data released on Wednesday.
In the past year, the economy has added 656,000 blue-collar jobs, compared to 1.7 million added in the services sector. But the rate of growth in blue-collar jobs is speeding up, while service-sector job growth has hovered around 1.3 percent over the past year.
The New York Times is also admitting that Trump’s economic policies are reaching people outside the Democratic Party’s base of coastal cities — and is also saying pay raises could soon rise faster because companies and investors have run out of alternatives. On Sept 7, the Times reported:
The headlines for the August job numbers released this morning are nothing but good. Employers added a robust 201,000 jobs, the unemployment rate remained at the rock-bottom level of 3.9 percent, and wages grew the fastest they have in nine years.
There’s no doubt that this is the best economy in quite a long time for American workers, who by a wide range of measures can find a job more easily than they have in a decade …
But the fact that higher pay raises are finally showing up in the data is another piece of evidence that employers are coming up against the limits of the labor force. Just maybe, after years of trying every recruitment technique other than raising hourly pay, employers are starting to turn more to that option.

Throughout President Barack Obama’s term, the progressive elite steered opportunities and wealth away from manufacturing sectors, which were deemed to be bad for the environment and ideal for transfer via free-trade deals to China and other Asian economies. They also steered wealth and opportunities towards their service-sector peers in wealthy coastal cities and in post-graduate career slots.
Under Trump, however, the economy’s gains are being spread more evenly throughout the nation and across the workforce.

'Save yourself if you can': More countries are seeking ways to dump the US dollar – Kremlin

    https://www.rt.com/business/438606-p...llar-currency/

Countries around the globe are trying to find ways of substituting the US dollar in trade, according to Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov.

“All of a sudden, the country which issues the US dollar starts making steps which are shattering trust in this reserve currency. More and more countries, not only in the East but also in Europe, start mulling ways to minimize their dependence on the US dollar,” Peskov told Rossiya TV channel.

“They suddenly realize: A. it is possible, B. it should be done, and C. save yourself if you can, it should be done as soon as possible.”

Peskov noted that it is not easy to replace the dollar-dominated system, however, “the fact that the trend of searching for alternatives has begun” is noticeable.

Last week, Russia’s second largest bank CEO Andrey Kostin warned that countries will stop using the greenback as a settlement currency because of Washington’s aggressive policy. According to Kostin, the US uses the dollar as a weapon, which will inevitably make it unpopular across the globe.

The idea of switching to the use of national currencies in bilateral transactions has recently became more popular for a number of countries affected by US sanctions or trade tariffs. They include Russia, China, Iran and Turkey.

CEO of N.J. firm given $260M in tax breaks trashes local workers as lazy, drug users

A day after the chief executive of one of Camden's largest employers was quoted griping about the local workforce, the city's mayor demanded an apology over the remarks he said played to "outrageous stereotyping" of residents.

In an interview with business publication ROI-NJ, Holtec CEO Krishna P. Singh said his firm has not reaped the financial rewards of a 600,000 square-foot manufacturing plant he opened in Camden. The facility was hailed as a much-needed economic engine that would create hundreds of local jobs.

Then-Gov. Chris Christie's state Economic Development Authority gave Holtec $260 million in tax breaks in 2014.

The problem for Holtec, Singh said, has been the firm can't find quality employees while the plant has become a drag on the bottom line. Still, the CEO said he hoped employees would become role models.

Local workers lack the needed skills and work history, according to the interview. Holtec's Camden plant is "costing us millions right now," Singh said in the article.
"They don't show up to work," Singh told ROI-NJ. "They can't stand getting up in the morning and coming to work every single day. They haven't done it, and they didn't see their parents do it. Of course, some of them get into drugs and things. So, it's difficult."

Camden Mayor Frank Moran was "appalled" by the business leader's comments and the "outrageous stereotyping of Camden residents," according to a statement from Moran's office.

"I don't condone Dr. Singh's statement and we demand an apology," said Moran. "I will hold all companies in Camden accountable and expect them to be community conscious and responsible partners. I am committed to making sure that prosperity reaches all neighborhoods and people of Camden."

The IMF financial mafia is closing up shop here, having drained as much energy as the cycles allow, and reopening shop across the way to start all over again. If history repeats, and it usually does, gold backing for the new currency method isn't far off. According to that 1988 Economist (Rothschild newsletter) cover, all current currencies, including the FRN, have to be destroyed before the end of 2018.

How is that going? To replace say the dollar by the end of the year, you must have something currently standing by to replace it with. There is nothing- thirty years later. The Euro showed why it won't work and thus won't happen. Whose gold is going to back this new currency you keep promising us?

Still 3.5 months left in 2018 to see! They don't like missing time deadlines. We watch the next 3.5 months together, yes?

The trade deficits are temporarily exaggerated as people try to beat the onset of the tariffs and as the dollar rises and other currencies fall.
