It's interesting that he's endorsed candidates as varied as Roy Moore and Gary Johnson. I don't like Johnson but his vote in the senate will be better than the democrat on quite a few issues and the mainline Republican doesn't even have a chance in New Mexico. I still think Gary has had a very negative affect on the libertarian brand so to speak, if he wins there would be even more of that. His support of abortion and opposition to property rights would keep me from voting for him. I don't blame Rand for endorsing him, strategically the GOP ought to if they care about removing as many Democrats as possible.

Exactly what the GOP would be doing if their goal was to actually win. Dump the GOP nominee and fully back Johnson with his name recognition. At this point the GOP is probably cocky about the senate though. If this were a house race, I'd bet they'd seriously consider asking the GOP nominee to drop out and have the party support Johnson. They'll need every house seat they can get

He will be worse on a lot of things. If he eats elected, you can kiss civil liberties goodbye.

    LOL...

Sorry, but Gary Johnson is better on Civil Liberties as a whole than 98 or 99% of of the other Senators, despite your disagreement on the cake issue.

It’s not just the cake. Johnson said religious liberty is a black hole. He doesn’t see them as civil liberties at all, rather something for government to decide. He does not believe in he principle of inalienable rights. He believes in personal liberty according to his own personal priorities.

I do not see him as a limited government guy. Government grew in NM under his administration. It’s probable. His defenders make a lot of excuses for that, but they do not have proof that Johnson didn’t make some choices to grow government according to his own priorities. There is no record of accomplishment there.

...but he is still better on Civil Liberties as a whole than 98 - 99% of the other Senators. So how would Civil Liberties get worse if he went in there? There is more to Civil Liberties than cake baking - we have the fourth amendment for example - and the war on drugs. He is quite good on Civil liberties compared to almost every other Senator, and much better than whoever else would be elected instead of him.

It's just really weird how you figure that if somebody or some thing is not 100% libertarian, then a Democrat or a Republican would be better.

If weed isn't 100% de-regulated by the government, then you figure it is better to make it completely illegal and put people in prison for having a joint in their pocket rather than decriminalizing and regulating some elements.

    That makes no sense.

A revolution needs a big tent, once the powers that be have been defeated the struggle between factions to shape the new order begins, the trick is to not ally with anyone who would be worse than the current regime.

Indeed. And this further shows that Randal doesn't hold a grudge given the not so nice things GJ has said about him in the past.

Ron Paul understood that, he even brought in a couple people from the Green Party one time to endorse over Obama and McCain.

Rev 3 thinks there should only be 8 libertarians in the whole world, I guess so they can be king or something.
