Officer stalked teen at hospital after alleged sexual assault, attorney says

An East Point police officer stalked a 15-year-old girl and her mother at local hospital just hours after he allegedly sexually assaulted the girl, the victim’s attorney told Channel 2 Action News.

Attorney Thomas Reynolds told Channel 2 hospital staff had to escort the officer out of the facility.

Reynolds believes his client, another girl and two boys were followed from a Waffle House by the officer, Channel 2 reported. The officer approached the group when they stopped at Sykes Park in East Point.

Reynolds said the officer let the girl and two boys go, but detained the 15-year-old for violating curfew.

The officer allegedly took the girl to the Village Highlands apartment complex and sexually assaulted her.

Reynolds told Channel 2 he kept the girl for three hours before bringing her home.

East Point police confirmed to the news station the officer was placed on paid administrative leave after they received a complaint of the sexual assault.

GBI spokeswoman Nelly Miles said the agency is investigating the alleged assault at the request of the police department.
