CNN Op Ed: Trump is No Longer Leader of the Free World

What is this 'free' they speak of?

    https://www.cnn.com/2018/07/16/opini...lon/index.html

Trump took the unprecedented step of taking the word of an autocratic leader of a hostile foreign power over his own Director of National Intelligence, stating that he did not see "any reason why it would be" Russia who hacked the DNC servers. This was music to Putin's ears, who grinned like a cat digesting a canary, while stating, "we have to be guided by facts and not by rumors."

The most innocent explanation for Trump's determined outbursts -- and his disconnect from broader bipartisan American policy interests -- is that he has isolationist instincts and admires authoritarian leaders. But that marks something much more dangerous than simply a disruption of the status quo.

Some might ask whether Trump's imagined new world order really represents a threat to American values. Only if you believe in individual rights, civil liberties and the strength of multi-lateral liberal democratic coalitions as a bulwark against ethno-nationalist autocracy.
“Force the normies into taking sides. At the moment they are just like "meh, I am minding my own business" retreating culturally into their private bubbles and "safe-spaces" since they don't understand what is going on. When the actual "us vs them" starts, they will be forced to fight or they'll die.” - Anonymous Poster

CNN fuming because they can't get enough people to believe that Hillary Clinton wasn't responsible for her own demise.

Man, they are really jumping the shark with this. I'll make 2 predictions:

Trump ends up with a bounce in support (after a possible temporary slip)
There will be some sort of international "incident" - it seems to me like the world intelligence agencies have too much to gain and too little risk in this climate. And the media will use this kerfuffle as the most important factor that caused it.

Well, good. The POTUS isn't supposed to be leader of the world. "Free" or otherwise.
Theye have refused their Assent to Laws, the most wholesome and necessary for the public good.

Theye have erected a multitude of New Offices, and sent hither swarms of Officers to harass our people and eat out their substance.

Theye kept among us, in times of peace, Standing Armies

Theye have combined with others to subject us to a jurisdiction foreign to our constitution,

For protecting them, by a mock Trial from punishment for any Murders which they should commit on the Inhabitants of these States:

For cutting off our Trade with parts of the world:

For imposing Taxes on us without our Consent:

For depriving us in many cases, of the benefit of Trial by Jury:

Theye plundered and destroyed the lives of our people.

Theye are at this time transporting Armies of Mercenaries to compleat the works of death, desolation, and tyranny, already begun with circumstances of Cruelty & Perfidy scarcely paralleled in the most barbarous ages, and totally unworthy of a civilized nation.

    my first thought..

He is supposed to be a powerless figurehead Representative of Free People.
Liberty is lost through complacency and a subservient mindset. When we accept or even welcome automobile checkpoints, random searches, mandatory identification cards, and paramilitary police in our streets, we have lost a vital part of our American heritage. America was born of protest, revolution, and mistrust of government. Subservient societies neither maintain nor deserve freedom for long.

America is weary of carrying the world empire on its shoulders, it is long past time we set it down and let it rot.

LOL! Since when does CNN believe in individual rights?

CNN is obnoxious. As I've said many times the media's incredibly obvious hatred of Trump and love for Democrats is creating Trump supporters out of thin air.

    Maybe.
It'll be worse if we don't.
