New Mexico Threatens Homeschoolers Who Won't Jump Through Hoops

State education bureaucrats in New Mexico are under fire nationwide after demanding that homeschool families sign “illegal” declarations agreeing that their “permission” to educate their own children could be revoked if they fail to follow bureaucratic decrees. Home-education groups and lawyers are urging families to ignore the demands.
The lawless demands came from the New Mexico Public Education Department (PED), as the state's government-education overlords are known, in a document referred to as “Statements of Understanding of Home School Parent/Family.” In the form, homeschool parents are told that their children must do the same amount of hours as children in government schools, among other controversial elements.
If parents do not jump through all the hoops as commanded, “the department may order that a student attend a public school or a private school,” reads the document. It goes on to threaten again that authorities may force parents to submit their children to state indoctrination if they do not comply with all the government's requirements.
But it is not clear that the declaration is legal. And home-education groups are urging parents to refuse to sign it.

I would think the HSLDA would make short work of this hogwash.

Happy to live in AZ where they leave us Homeschoolers the hell alone.
There are only two things we should fight for. One is the defense of our homes and the other is the Bill of Rights. War for any other reason is simply a racket.

    Get em while they're young...

There are big problems with Education in general. The specifics of the problems are mentioned constantly in the Family, Parenting, and Education thread. If they get "control" of Homeschooling, all they end up doing is continuing the same set of problems that plague Education and making sure those problems continue into Homeschooling. Its a double edged sword they plan to use to discredit Homeschoolers by eventually claiming that Homeschooling is no better than Public Education, so why waste your time, then saying they have zero involvement in how children are schooled when not in Public Education.

Things like Standardized Tests. Trouble with Standardized Tests is it only shows a form of Inauthentic Learning. The real lesson is the test itself. What Standardized Testing itself teaches as a lesson is fixed habits of reaction to authority. In homeschooling, it teaches children that parents are NOT figures of authority as they have to answer to the State. The subject matter when taught with the context of standardized tests is completely irrelevant because the real lessons that are taught thru interference is that no one is safe from that interference.

Next major problem is that it will teach children that parents are incompetent and should not be looked to as sources of valid information. This further destroys the Nuclear Family, or what is left of it. Govt regulation causes intentional interference between the natural relationship between parents and children, and the problems that are created will cause blame to be thrown about within the family itself, but Govt will absolve itself of any wrongdoing. Statistically, the consequences will be held in the light, despite the cause of the negative results being govt interference, failures will always be placed squarely on parent educators and used to discourage other parents from homeschooling. Then, if you had someone like Zippy who was an advocate of Compulsory State Education, they would shove those statistics down the throats of everyone while defending the system itself.

The Prussian Education Model trained children to become Obedient Workers. In the near future, that may very well change dramatically. The system will be retooled so Workers is replaced by Voters. Children will be taught from birth too look to non family figures of Authority as their only salvation. Education when not homeschooled will teach children that their own parents are incompetent because they do not have answers to everything. When at home, the parents will be set up to fail because they will be required to teach New Math and place importance on adherence to stupid rules. This will cause the credibility of the parents to be severely undermined in the eyes of the children.

The end result will be the same in both Public and Homeschool Education. Children will be taught subservience to all figures of authority who are not their own parents and teach dependency on the system instead of self reliance and critical thinking, the latter of which being the most dangerous threat to the power of the State in a dishonest, financial and moral corrupt, manipulative, devious, and flat out evil system of control.

    Belief, Money, Violence.

As always, Belief comes from multiple sources. Gaining control of every source of information upon which every individual bases their world view is the goal. Broadcast Media is fully manipulated. Social Networks like Fedbook favor exceptionally biased thinking. Propaganda is used from various sources so it is repeated from sources that an individual has any confidence in such as friends, family and coworkers becomes exploitative. True Homeschooling is a danger to the Status Quo, thus, it must be infiltrated and dismantled from the inside, as far as they are concerned. When every source of information is taught Input Output and suppresses Critical Thinking, the victims of brainwashing are only offered ideas that validate the current system as no one else in the entire chain is capable of challenging ideas.

Something else that is going on here is the Conversion of Rights to Permissions. We all recognize that as parents, we have ULTIMATE authority over our children, but that Right is not Enumerated. Thus, by the Law, we do NOT have legal authority to DENY the State any interference with our children. Converting that Unenumerated Right into a Permission requires attacking the reputation of parents. The State will hide behind claims "it is for your own good", when the real "good" that comes as a result is a benefit to the State itself. Other claims such as "you need us to protect you from yourselves", and backed further by other frivolous claims such as "vaccines", "social skills" or any areas that a parent may be deficient in. Then you end up with a group of idiot voters who parrot what they have heard, and think what they have been told to think who vote to take away the Rights of the Parents and give those Rights to the State who turn right back around and use that power over children to psychologically abuse and program children. Once that happens, then parents must get Permission from the State to teach their own children in a way that suits the State.

The final step in Conversion of Rights to Permission is to DENY those Permissions. Most parents are already explicitly DENIED the Right to keep children out of Public Education. Thats when Money and Violence come into play. Teach your child what the State has told you to teach your children (Belief) or we will either Fine (Money) or Imprison you (Violence). The lesson to children is reinforced through the States application of enforcement of these three systems. When that happens, your children will no longer be your own, and you may as well kiss both your dreams and the dreams of your children goodbye as a life of servitude to the State is their only destination, in a position in life as determined by the authority of the State.
