    Didn't think Springfield was that bad... of course I have only visited. St. Louis has obvious suckage.

    Yeah, I like springfield. Their little zoo is pretty great, especially the hand fed giraffes and reptile house. And their airport is a total breeze to fly in and out of.

    Flint, MI didn't make the list? That's surprising, you still can't drink the water in places.

    Look again.

    3 - St. Louis MO

    2 - Flint MI

    1 - Detroit MI

    1 - Detroit MI

    why does this not surprise me?
    Liberty is lost through complacency and a subservient mindset. When we accept or even welcome automobile checkpoints, random searches, mandatory identification cards, and paramilitary police in our streets, we have lost a vital part of our American heritage. America was born of protest, revolution, and mistrust of government. Subservient societies neither maintain nor deserve freedom for long.

    I think, city government has more to do with city condition and culture than state government does, except in the case of state and national capitals, in which case the state or nation is responsible for the theft and redistribution.

    Are you sure about that? Why don't you do some research and bring back some facts instead of your speculation.

    What's funny is I opened this thread up and if Flint and Detroit weren't 1 and 2 in that order, I was going to say the entire list should be discarded. Even though Flint is worse than Detroit, at least they have the top two right.

    Flint really is the worst place on the planet.

    LOL "the rest of the state of California"

    List of longest serving mayors:
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_o..._United_States

    http://message.snopes.com/showthread.php?t=36043

    DEMOCRAT LEADERSHIP!

    Detroit, MI (1st on the poverty rate list) hasn’t elected
    a Republican mayor since 1961;

    Buffalo, NY (2nd) hasn’t elected one since 1954;

    Cincinnati, OH (3rd)… since 1984;

    Cleveland, OH (4th)… since 1989;

    Miami, FL (5th) has never had a Republican Mayor; (was founded in 1809)

    St. Louis, MO (6th)…. since 1949;

    El Paso, TX (7th) has never had a Republican Mayor; (was founded in 1850)

    Milwaukee, WI (8th)… since 1908;

    Philadelphia, PA (9th)… since 1952;

    Newark, NJ (10th)… since 1907. (that's more than 100 years ago).

    I guess this also demonstrates the political ignorance of the populace of the cities?

    It would interesting to see a comparison of cities for each state. For example, Florida cities with longest Democrat and Republican mayors. Then contrast that with a measure of prosperity. perhaps per capita income, property values, or municipal GDP, unemployment rate, crime rate.

    Albany, GA has been a democrat stronghold in SW Georgia forever. It's one of the reasons we can't get rid of Sanford Bishop who has been in Congress since 1993. Lots of conservatives in Southwest Georgia but they get drowned out by people in these decaying urban areas of the state who just sit around having babies and collecting welfare checks. And that city is a s**thole. The interstate just passed it on by.
