No solution to Korean Peninsula’s nuclear issue unless sanctions are lifted — Lavrov

"Touching on sanctions, this is absolutely clear that starting this discussion about solving the Korean Peninsula’s nuclear problem,
we believe that it cannot be full until sanctions are removed,"

"how to move forward to this, that’s about the art of negotiators.
But this cannot be done in one move."

"It is impossible in one move to ensure denuclearization,
that’s why certainly there should be some stages and there should be the oncoming traffic at each of these stages,"

Bullies prefer brute force , surrender and humiliation.
    Should be a fun summit.

    Lavrov:
"Today, citizens' rights to their own historical identity are being suppressed for sake of false political correctness.
Democracies are falling hostage to minority groups.
Previous capitalistic model of constantly expanding prosperity is failing to fulfill its promises."

    Putin:
yesterday eliminated utility bills on all Russian pensioners 70yrs and older.

Based on stated positions, talks will go nowhere. Korea says they won't deal until after sanctions are removed. Trump says sanctions won't be removed unless there is an "irreversible" denuclearisation in North Korea. Korea tends to make promises they don't intend to keep and Trump tends to make treats he doesn't follow up on. And both sides have a different idea of just what "denuclearisation" means. North Korea only matters because they have nukes. They won't give that up.

Trump also wants a deal so he will probably be willing to sign almost anything.

Well, it's nice to see Kim laugh. In any case, I'm quite sure he's open to talking, I'm quite sure he would stop the nuclear program and hand over all his nukes.... IF he knew he was going to stay alive. It is the only objective of those in power in NK. I'm quite sure they would rather see a more prosperous country.. However, having a prosperous country also brings with it that people gain more power against them. They may not care about that in itself, but they want to stay alive. They know full well that if they we're to have a democracy with open and fair elections tomorrow, they will either die in a public revolt or be thrown in jail/tried elsewhere. This is also why I don't believe they will ever use a nuke, they want to stay alive. Threatening with nukes, to this day, is the best way for them to stay alive. Even though the threats are obviously empty.

The on-again, off-again relationship between President Trump and North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un continued this Friday when the President announced that the historic peace summit in Singapore on June 12 will proceed as planned. This comes just one week after President Trump announced the summit had been canceled due to Kim Jong Un showing bad faith.
President Trump's announcement to continue the summit came after receiving a letter, which was "hand delivered to the White House by the dictator's top envoy," according to CNN. Though Trump acknowledged he had not yet read the letter, he said contents were "very interesting."

Speaking with reporters, the President adopted an optimistic tone, saying that recent gestures from North Korea, including their threats of nuclear bombings, were a thing of the past.
"I think we're over that, totally over that, and now we're going to deal and we're going to really start a process," Trump said after meeting with the North Korean envoy, another historic meeting in the long list of historic meetings that have occurred in recent weeks.
"We're meeting with the chairman on June 12 and I think it's probably going to be a very successful — ultimately a successful process," Trump said. "We'll see. Remember what I say. We will see what we will see, but I think it's going to be a process that we deserve to have."

Not to be outdone by the US, Russian President Vladimir Putin has reportedly invited North Korean leader Kim Jong Un to visit Russia in September, Russian-language media reported.
The report by Russian news agency RIA News was picked up by Reuters. RIA cited Ivan Melnikov, the deputy speaker of the lower house of Russia's parliament, as the source for the announcement. Last week, Bloomberg reported that Putin had sent a confidential message to Kim via Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.

Russia has been accused of playing up its bond with Pyongyang by airbrushing a smile on Kim Jong Un’s face as he shook hands with Moscow’s top diplomat.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and other delegates met with North Korea’s leader on Thursday, shaking hands and trading pleasantries. Although neither side announced any major policy shift, the symbolism of the public trip, less than two weeks from Kim’s planned first meeting with a U.S. president, was evident.

Kim thanked Moscow for opposing U.S. dominance and politely asked about Russian President Vladimir Putin’s well-being, but his scowling at the camera when shaking hands with Lavrov was a touch too severe for the Kremlin. By the time Russian state channel Russia-1 broadcast its weekly news review Vesti Nedely (The Weekly News) on Sunday, Kim’s stern look had changed to a smile as the program’s anchor declared that the trip showed the U.S. “the now common Russian-North Korean position.”

In Russia, social media users were quick to mock the program, contrasting it with the official images and footage that both countries’ governments had published.

There, Kim’s face remains serious in the posed photographs with Lavrov and with the rest of the Russian delegation. “Vesti Nedely photoshopped a smile on Kim Jong Un’s face,” a parody Twitter account of the Russian foreign ministry wrote.

“Everyone needs this. If there is something that somebody does not like, a smile gets photoshopped.” “Rossiya-1 showed a still from Lavrov’s meeting with Kim Jong Un,” Russia’s popular meme source Lentach announced on the VKontakte social media platform.

“But at the last moment they photoshopped a smile on so as not to darken the mood of Kiselyov’s jolly content,” the site mused.

As reports about the pictures pread across non-state media on Monday, Kiselyov chose not to ignore the jokes at his expense and claimed the awkward image, whose colors were clearly edited, was genuine.

“The photographs are always taken with high-shutter-speed lenses,” he told Moscow radio station Govorit Moskva (Moscow Speaks). “So all sorts of phases of expression turn out.”

Despite Kiselyov’s comments, the Russian foreign ministry also released footage of the handshake, where Kim’s face is virtually entirely still when facing the cameras.

The North Korean leader appears to grin widely when walking with the Russian diplomats and when facing them, but away from the lens.

Misspelled. Should have been "threats". Trump has yet to make any treaties. He is afterall "the Great Negotiator". He has walked away from a few but hasn't singed a single one.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has pledged that his country will make sure that President Donald Trump’s upcoming meeting with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un is a success.

Trump and Kim are slated to meet on June 12 in Singapore to discuss the denuclearization of the Korean peninsula, and Putin says that all major regional players, including Russia, should offer North Korea guarantees in order to have a fruitful meeting.

"We will be waiting for the outcome of the meeting between President Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un and will contribute to the success of this meeting in every possible way," Putin told Chinese reporters Wednesday in the lead-up to a security meeting in China next week. Putin also said that the international community should help North Korea with its economic development and guarantee Kim's safety in exchange for the abandonment of Pyongyang’s nuclear weapons program.

"There are numerous prospects for joint work both in the three-and four-party format; it is just necessary to move in this direction," Putin said.
The comments echo those already made by Trump and members of his administration. Speaking last month in the oval office, Trump said that North Korea can be “very rich” under Kim if the isolated country agrees to give up its nuclear weapons. A week later, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said that Trump should provide Kim with “comfort and security” in order for the meeting to be successful.

North Korea won't change any of its military (assuming they would actually do so in the first place- why should they? Trump is finally giving them the respect and recognition they want only because of their weapons program) until sanctions are lifted. US won't lift any sanctions until Korea starts dismantling their nuclear program. Next year they will get together for another family photo opp and agree to do nothing. North Korea has already signed two agreements with previous US presidents to get rid of their nuclear program.
