    The Terror: Franklin's Lost Expedition

    The show's horror reminds me so far of reading Arthur Machen, or the movie The Witch. Not so much Lovecraft.

    @AntiFederalist (boats and sailor words)

    @oyarde (there's a wise Ice Injun in the first scene of the first episode, perhaps in more I have not seen yet)

    I can't recommend what I've seen so far. Judging by the reviews of those who've read the novel, the show is disappointing compared to it's source too. The novel leaves the reader with the question whether the spirit is real. The primary horror is being in a place that wants you dead. If they had made the spirit's existence ambiguous, or more like The Thing, I'd have been recommending this one, but I'll wait to judge until I finish the season. The gay subplot was distracting. I want more man vs nature.
