Thread: Trump about to push hard for gun control:

I could be wrong, but this looks like a similar thing trump did with the recent DACA giving the dems all they wanted and more in order to deal. Pissed his base off really bad, just like this is pissing off his base plus all 2nd amendment supporters. It was all grandstanding that went nowhere. I am hoping this goes nowhere and I am giving more $ to GOA because they are the only ones I trust to protect the natural right to self defense.

    still seems worth arguing over.
Liberty is lost through complacency and a subservient mindset. When we accept or even welcome automobile checkpoints, random searches, mandatory identification cards, and paramilitary police in our streets, we have lost a vital part of our American heritage. America was born of protest, revolution, and mistrust of government. Subservient societies neither maintain nor deserve freedom for long.

It remains to be seen, congress may already be in anti gun hands. The White House is.

It looks exactly like it and only a mind reader can tell if he means it or not, I really hope it ends the same way with the dems getting nothing.

In the long run it always is, Trump is feeding the anti-gun culture steroids and breathing new life into "compromise" on the issue even if nothing happens right now, and what is worse is that he is bringing pro-gun progress to a halt.

I'm pretty sure it was the Parkland shooting that did that, and he is just letting the steam off and get the left off their guard and not freak out too much. If he came out completely against gun control, there would be a much bigger backlash from the left.

Parkland was a spark Trump is pouring the gasoline.
And since you think it is a great tactic to bait the left in this case shouldn't he have defended the 2ndA and incited a "much bigger backlash from the left" that you claim would have been the result?

People are desensitized from shootings and the feds hate it. They want to blame video games and movies but we just don't want them to take our second amendment rights. The problem is there has been too many and people just think of it as normal, this encourages this behavior a lot. Just the fact that people see normal looking people doing it on the TV they think its normal behavior. The MSM promotes these shootings.

Bluffing, so they will act like they won't do real control and do fake gun control but actually they are going to do real gun control.

Politics isn't poker, it is war by other means and it is philosophy applied.

Bluffing can be used in war but war is short term, the philosophy is long term and he is doing more long term philosophical damage than any short term advantage he may seize.

I once said bringing the troops home would be THE ISSUE for a 2020 primary challenge to Trump, this beats it to death.

Rand or whatever liberty candidate we can get needs to make gun rights the centerpiece of their campaign.

Begging the question, can we give Trump credit for that?

I think you may have something though, hopefully Trump's Presidency paves the way for a candidate like Rand in 2024.. although I will always support Rand whenever he chooses to run, I doubt he will run in 2020 but I still think I'm going to win that bet with AF so we'll see.

No, every neocon in the Republican party will run on guns whether they mean it or not, Rand or whoever we get will have to run on guns instead of some other subject that distinguishes them better (like bringing home the troops) just to not look weak on the 2nd amendment, the only thing it accomplishes is to open Trump up to a challenge more than he was which wouldn't be necessary if he did the right thing on guns and foreign policy etc.

This will have no effect on 2024 because Trump won't be running and Parkland will be a distant memory.

    Seriously? LOLOLOLOL

This move will guarantee the GOP gets blown out of the water in the fall, and a President Oprah in 2020.

Rand has a better chance seeing God first, than being successful in 2024.

The GOP can save themselves if they aggressively defend the 2ndA, they might even gain some short term advantage in the midterms but as I told Dannno the long term damage from Trump breathing new life into gun control is staggering, gun control was nearly dead and we were just beginning to roll back the old infringements and now we are playing defense again, probably for years.

Like I said, the gun control is no surprise, he has been in favor of it for years, and he is on the record in dozens of places stating his support for gun bans.

All all it took was a GOP majority in the House, Senate and White House.

    With friends like these...

And what's also important to note: with Obama the gun rights people were always on guard.

The slightest hint of gun control being mentioned, and they raised hell, but more importantly, went out and bought guns and ammo like crazy. I am just now, years later, able to find plenty of .22 LR at decent prices.

Like suckers, they went to sleep after Dump's appointment, and now, theye may be able to push through a ban so quickly, that there will not be time for millions more "assault rifles" to be sold.

And I can't even take solace in posting Henry Rollins' "Liar" video, because Dump didn't lie at all.

And the end result will be something in the middle, as always. More restrictions but plenty of pats on the back about how lucky folks are since it could have been so much worse. And Hillary would have nuked gun owner's houses by then.

Old paradigm: neocons=pro gun, pro war.
Trump paradigm: neocons=pro gun, pro war.
    **globalists fapping, giggling**

Incrementally disarm the US, externally strengthen neocon Foreign Policy.
... and we always thot it would take Marsha Law.
    This is pro-Empire planning/execution.
    MEGA!

    my 2018 'predictions'...

    Winners:
'old guard' DNC pro war DEMS ('softening' against / 'centrist anti gun' Trump)
RINOS, 'reformed' pro war neocon PUBS 'aligning' w/ 'reasonable gun laws' Trump
Incumbents both sides (DEMS take the House back?)

    Losers:
    'rigid/inflexible' 2nd Amend / Constitutional / Liberty anti-war PUB challengers
    Anti-DNC 'new wave' DEM challengers

Feinstein is a bell weather... the campaign to watch (see if she gains 'endorsements' after Trump's 'atta girl' glad hand)
Media: 'immigration' takes a back seat to 'gun reform'
Voters: Dems have MORE to gain focusing on gun-reform/aligning WITH Trump (single issue concession) than against him in THIS election cycle

    Fun 2 watch:
The sudden 'gun reform' issue is a 'nightmare scenario' for campaign strategists.
It's all Trump's fault. It really is. The 'net' result is that he's strengthened the DEMS for 2018.
I think it's hilarious to watch the spineless and unprincipled not KNOW what 'position' to (now) take.
All they want to do is get re-elected and wish the 'issue' would just go AWAY.
    Nope. hahaha
