Geezer Tribute Thread. :p 66 year old Mark Thompson finishes 22nd in Daytona 500

    Geezer Tribute Thread.

No one in the Daytona 500 field was even born when Mark Thompson graduated high school. He started last (40th) and finished 22nd. He completed 203 of 207 laps and was still running at the end. Hmm; not bad.

At 53, I, full out, ran down to the creek chasing a dog we were sitting. It's a good 100 yrds. In Crocks. Then I walked back at a brisk pace to get my truck to look for the little $#@!er. I'm a smoker and a drinker. Olympic worthy? No. But, considering I haven't full out run for 100 yrds in over 30 years, not too damn bad.

Lucky you didn't pull or tear your hamstring. Very common when people who don't run try to run. Don't even have to be old. I was doing sprints at a track a couple of years ago (it was popular a few years ago for workouts). A fairly young couple (late 20s?) saw me and decided to try. The woman got about 5 steps before pulling up with a hamstring pull. Had to gingerly limp away...

Pro-tip: accelerate slowly, don't pretend to be an Olympic sprinter.

    66 ya say..

    still hope then.
Liberty is lost through complacency and a subservient mindset. When we accept or even welcome automobile checkpoints, random searches, mandatory identification cards, and paramilitary police in our streets, we have lost a vital part of our American heritage. America was born of protest, revolution, and mistrust of government. Subservient societies neither maintain nor deserve freedom for long.

At what age does one become a "Geezer"?
    On Trump:
How conservative Republicans can continue to support this arrogant imposter—the man who brags about inflicting the world with the Covid mark of the beast; the man who said, “Take the guns first, go through due process second”; and the man who deliberately played and then set up Stewart Rhodes (of course, Stewart was all too eager to be Trump’s patsy) for an 18-year prison sentence—is truly beyond my comprehension.” Chuck Baldwin

It's a matter of attitude not age.

    no $#@!

I was surprised to hit 30,, I really did not expect to..

that was thirty years ago,, and I was old at 20.

still running,, ain't leakin' and have no idea when I get to go home.

some laps on a track would be great fun though. I'm starting to have serious concerns of lasting till 100.
