Chuck Baldwin: The Trump Presidency: A Repeat Of G.W. Bush

The Republican Party claims to be “pro-life” and “the party of smaller government.” President Donald Trump claims to be “pro-life” and for “smaller government.” It’s all a pack of lies.

With the Republicans in total control of both houses of Congress and the White House, they voted for—and Trump quickly signed—the biggest spending bill in U.S. history. The bill, which was co-authored by Senator Chuck Schumer (D-New York) and Senator Mitch McConnell (R-Kentucky), explodes the federal deficit by over $400 billion, and, get this: it fully funds America’s largest abortion provider, Planned Parenthood.

After he signed this fiscally irresponsible (and blatantly unconstitutional) bill, Donald Trump had the gall to blame Democrats for the massive spending bill. And, amazingly, there are millions of so-called conservatives that believe him. What a crock! If it wasn’t so serious, it would be laughable. When the Democrats are in power, it’s the Democrats’ fault, and when the Republicans are in power, it’s still the Democrats’ fault. But worse than that obvious deceit and duplicity is the realization that millions of Christians and conservatives actually believe it.

P.T. Barnum nailed it. “There’s a sucker born every minute,” he is quoted as saying. And a whole bunch of these suckers call themselves conservatives.

In opposing the bill, Senator Rand Paul (R-Kentucky) rightly said, “When the Democrats are in power, Republicans appear to be the conservative party. But when Republicans are in power, it seems there is no conservative party.” Rep. Mark Meadows (R-North Carolina) lamented, “This is not what the American people sent us here to do.”

The massive spending bill eliminates the budget caps that were put in place in 2011 under BARACK OBAMA.

Rand Paul rightly criticized, “We have Republicans hand-in-hand with Democrats offering us trillion-dollar deficits.”

Here is how House members voted:

House Roll Call On HR 1892

And here is how Senate members voted:

Senate Roll Call On HR 1892

And again, what few people are talking about is that after promising voters that he would defund Planned Parenthood, the gigantic spending bill that Trump signed FULLY FUNDS the nation’s largest abortion provider.

Just as when G.W. Bush was president and the Republicans controlled both houses of Congress, NOTHING is being done to overturn Roe v Wade or defund Planned Parenthood—or reduce federal spending. More and more, the Trump presidency is looking like a carbon copy of G.W. Bush’s.

Donald Trump and a majority of the Republican Congress are absolutely worthless. No, they are worse than worthless; they are disgusting, despicable liars and hypocrites.

In a letter to pro-lifers during the presidential campaign, Trump said, "I am committed to . . . defunding Planned Parenthood."

    TRUMP LIED . . . AGAIN.

Just as he lied about "draining the swamp," overturning DACA, no amnesty for illegals, no escalation of foreign wars, drawing down NATO, repealing Obamacare (the bill Trump and congressional Republicans proposed to replace Obamacare was actually WORSE than Obamacare), ad infinitum, he also lied about defunding Planned Parenthood and shrinking the size of the federal government.

Just last month, Vice President Mike Pence promised pro-lifers that Trump was the most "pro-life" president in history (not that that means anything). But Trump and the rest of the lying Republicans continue to force taxpayers to pay for the legalized murder of unborn babies by fully funding Planned Parenthood in the Schumer/McConnell budget deal that Trump just signed.

It's business as usual in Washington, D.C.—and that business includes baby killing.

It’s also business as usual among conservatives and Christians as they continue to support these Republican hypocrites and liars.

If only it were the most contentious issue on this site.

P.S. I only said Paul/Baldwin because Rand has a Senate seat so the media has to give him credibility as a candidate whereas they can dismiss Baldwin as a nobody who doesn't stand a chance.

All that's missing is starting a war of his own. But I guess with so many conflicts already on table hopefully he won't feel the need to.

Dubya didn't start his war until over half way through his first term. Trump still has plenty of time.

ETA: In the mean time, we'll have to be satisfied with the multiple conflicts already underway and the carnage they're producing. Oh! And the murders and maimings of innocents via Trump's continuing illegal and unconstitutional drone strikes, which he could stop any time but doesn't.

Chuck has some valid points but the GWB comparison is off base. The Bushes despise Trump and have done all in their power to keep him contained.

The comparison was they are both false-conservatives with big promises and a dedicated following of fairweather conservatives breaking their own necks to make excuses for his lies and misdirection.

    Seems pretty accurate to me.

They criticize him for fake news, they don't criticize his policy. I don't care if Bush says that $#@!hole is a racist terminology they agree on policy which is the articles premise.

    Baldwin nailed it.
Partisan politics, misleading or emotional bill titles, and 4D chess theories are manifestations of the same lie—that the text of the Constitution, the text of legislation, and plain facts do not matter; what matters is what you want to believe. From this comes hypocrisy. And where hypocrisy thrives, virtue recedes. Without virtue, liberty dies. - Justin Amash, March 2018

Chuck has some spot on valid points, including the GW comparison. Your point is a non sequitur.

I'm sure that this massive military buildup and infatuation with generals isn't at all leading to anything...

Hey, give Trump some time. He's doing his level best to seriously antagonize both Russia and China. One or both of those may well pay off before all is said and done.
