Tillerson:
"The US & coalition forces today control 30% of the Syrian territory,
and control a large amount of the population,
and control a large amount of Syria's oil fields.
So I think in terms of the observation that the 'US has little leverage or role to play' is simply false."
'LEVERAGE' for what?
The answer is right here:
Syrian government rejects Geneva committee's efforts to alter Syrian constitution
Syria's government on Tuesday rejected efforts led by the United Nations to form a committee to rewrite Syria's constitution.
In 2012, the Syrian government announced voters had overwhelmingly approved a new constitution in a referendum vote which dropped a clause that in effect granted Assad’s Baath Party a monopoly on power, yet critics claimed the new constitution still maintains the real power in the presidency.
Syria's government said that it would welcome the results of the Sochi meeting, and made no mention of the constitutional committee at the time.
So.. nothing clandestine or surreptitious like our 1953 overthrow of Iran...
just blunt, in your face
'we got yer shiit' and WE'RE gonna 'develop it',
set up our banking,
do yer 'reconstruction',
install our puppets,
create our own governorate
and
yer gonna write the constitution the way we tell you to.
