Making America Great...Or Poorer? Dissecting The State Of The Union Speech

How did President Trump do last night? Lots of appeal to emotion. Lots of people to point to in the balcony to illustrate his points. But what about the meat of the speech underneath the decoration? Infrastructure spending? More militarism and military spending? Nukes?
"Foreign aid is taking money from the poor people of a rich country, and giving it to the rich people of a poor country." - Ron Paul
"Beware the Military-Industrial-Financial-Pharma-Corporate-Internet-Media-Government Complex." - B4L update of General Dwight D. Eisenhower
"Debt is the drug, Wall St. Banksters are the dealers, and politicians are the addicts." - B4L
"Totally free immigration? I've never taken that position. I believe in national sovereignty." - Ron Paul

Clearly Ron Paul is working for the "deep state" against our saviour Trump. Or, at the very least, he's acting as an unwitting pawn for the deep state. Next thing ng you know Ron Paul will come out against protectionist tariffs. /s

"Government ... does not exist of necessity, but rather by virtue of a tragic, almost comical combination of klutzy, opportunistic terrorism against sitting ducks whom it pretends to shelter, plus our childish phobia of responsibility, praying to be exempted from the hard reality of life on life's terms." Wolf DeVoon

"...Make America Great Again. I'm interested in making American FREE again. Then the greatness will come automatically."Ron Paul

You might notice that the deep state doesn't criticize Trump for the same reasons Ron Paul criticizes Trump.

"Each of us must choose which course of action we should take: education, conventional political action, or even peaceful civil disobedience to bring about necessary changes. But let it not be said that we did nothing." - Ron Paul

"Paul said "the wave of the future" is a coalition of anti-authoritarian progressive Democrats and libertarian Republicans in Congress opposed to domestic surveillance, opposed to starting new wars and in favor of ending the so-called War on Drugs."

While I agree with the bit about appeals to emotion, let us remember that this is a political speech. Let us further bear in mind that America is deep in the kimchee and is not going to be out any time soon, if ever. The question to ask, then, is whether the net result of the speech "moved" in a better direction. I say it probably did. That is about the best for which we can reasonably hope at this juncture. In ten years, who can say? Perhaps we will be in much better shape than we are today. I have no crystal ball. But if we find ourselves in better straits, perhaps then we can reasonably expect larger steps toward actual freedom. Today, I'd call what we got as better than what we would have gotten with Der Klinton. Let us be thankful for marginal improvements, no matter how slight. It still beats the hell out of going further into the abyss.

Indeed, and you will be called names for saying this. Trump adeptly showed the lack of integrity with which Congress approaches then people’s business. It was a message very clearly delivered and understood by all but Congress and the race pimps.
