I wonder what AG Becerra would think of holding back info to ATF about employees that are gun owners?

Of course, he's right, for the wrong reasons, so I support this.

And this will only help speed the exodus of businesses out of Kalifornia.

How could it not: the state says do not release this employee info or else, the fedcoats say give us this info or else.

Concerned about “rumors” of an imminent immigration enforcement sweep in California, state Atty. Gen. Xavier Becerra on Thursday warned employers he is prepared to seek fines if they violate a new state law that prohibits them from giving information on employees to federal authorities.

Becerra said rumblings of possible sweeps compelled him to remind Californians that there are new laws restricting local law enforcement cooperation with federal agents and that bar businesses from voluntarily allowing immigration officers to access or obtain employee records without a court order or subpoena.

“It’s important, given these rumors out there, to let people and more specifically employers know that if they voluntarily start giving up information about their employees in ways that contradict our new California laws they subject themselves to actions by my office … enforcing AB 450,” he said at a news conference.

He said employers who violate the new law face fines of up to $10,000.

Becerra said his office is preparing to issue guidance to local agencies about the new state immigration laws, while also seeking to communicate with federal officials about their intent. He acknowledged that the federal government has jurisdiction to enforce immigration laws, but said the new state law seeks to protect the privacy of workers.

Becerra said his office has not been given advanced notice of any new raids and did not know ahead of time of enforcement actions recently at 7-Eleven stores.

This bill is unconstitutional, i.e., federal supremacy, freedom of association, and First Amend. Let's see them use this tactic with IRS W4 Forms, or hell even police checkpoints, and see how far they get before a judicial review occurs.

This bill, clearly, also serves to bog the courts down with warrant hearings and prolong the process for immigration agents because they will first have to obtain a complete list and account and justification for each single suspected employee.

Also, this bill seems to obstruct justice by requiring the employer to notify the employee and their representative that they are being looked into by federal immigration agents at Sec. 90.2. (a) (1); also it is a law intending to protect individual's engaging in criminal activity.

Hmm... I wonder if everyone who was involved in authorizing this bill is prosecutable under 8 U.S. Code § 1324 - Bringing in and harboring certain aliens

Verifying one's immigration status could not be found to be an unfair immigration practice as intended under the breadth of the law. And an employer should not be punished because of their concern or desire to remain within the immigration laws of the their Country.

A California state lawmaker is asking President Donald Trump and Attorney General Jeff Sessions to come to the state and arrest its Attorney General Xavier Becerra for "crossing the line" in enforcing an immigration law.

"He's crossed the line, this is now a criminal defense, the Department of Justice needs to come," Travis Allen, a GOP assemblyman from California said on Fox News Monday night. "Sessions needs to come and Trump need to come to California to literally arrest and indict Xaiver Becerra for breaking federal law."




Allen, who is running for governor in the state, was responding to comments Becerra made last week in regards to enforcing a new California immigration law.

"It’s important, given these rumors that are out there, to let people know — more specifically today, employers — that if they voluntarily start giving up information about their employees or access to their employees in ways that contradict our new California laws, they subject themselves to actions by my office," Becerra said, according to a Sacramento Bee report. "We will prosecute those who violate the law."
