Bannon refuses to comply with House subpoena

President Donald Trump's former chief strategist Steve Bannon declined on Tuesday to comply with a subpoena ordering him to answer questions from a U.S. House intelligence panel about his time at the White House as part of its investigation into allegations of Russian interference in the U.S. election.

After Bannon initially refused to answer questions about the matter, Devin Nunes, the committee's Republican party chairman, authorized a subpoena during the meeting to press Bannon to respond.
Even then, Bannon refused to answer questions after his lawyer had conferred with the White House and was told again to refuse to answer questions about the transition period immediately after Trump was elected, or Bannon's time in the administration, according to Representative Adam Schiff, the top Democrat on the committee.
Separately, the New York Times reported that Bannon had been subpoenaed by Special Counsel Robert Mueller to testify before a grand jury in a probe of alleged ties between Russia and Trump's 2016 presidential campaign, on Tuesday.

It was the first time Mueller is known to have used a subpoena against a member of Trump's inner circle, the Times said. It cited a person with direct knowledge of the matter.
A spokesman for Mueller's office declined comment. Bill Burck, a lawyer for Bannon, could not immediately be reached for comment on the subpoena or his testimony before the House panel.

The reported subpoena of Bannon does not mean he is a target of Mueller's criminal investigation.

The 'spin' on the OP article which is 'sourced' to Adam Schiff....
makes it sound as if 'sloppy steve' (by refusing the Nunes subpoena)
is STILL/merely just complying with WH 'instructions'/advice.

I believe this to be completely wrong.

Bannon is covering his OWN ass... not Donald's.
I believe he is avoiding 'lines of inquiry' into his 'intelligence background'...
Kwok, his new billionaire benefactor, also has ties into the intelligence world.

The newest Mueller subpoena remains on Bannon...

From what I read yesterday, he's likey to spill beans when he meets with Mr Mueller because whatever he tells House committee will tip off his last boss who had called him "sloppy Steve" and got him fired from all jobs.

    Bannon to cooperate with Mueller?

an 17 2018, 8:08 am ET FBI agents visited Steve Bannon’s home last week to discuss subpoena in Russia probe

by Hallie Jackson, Kristen Welker and Julia Ainsley

FBI agents showed up at Steve Bannon’s Washington home last week intent on serving him with a subpoena to appear before a grand jury investigating possible ties between President Donald Trump's campaign and Russia, according to a source familiar with the proceedings.

Even then, Bannon refused to answer questions after his lawyer had conferred with the White House and was told again to refuse to answer questions about the transition period immediately after Trump was elected, or Bannon's time in the administration,
    Yahoo slant, perhaps?
So if the lawyer called the White House switchboard and then told Bannon not to answer... the sentence would remain materially true.

To any/all who are completely 'confused' by the complexities and 'allegiances'
    (we've talked about this before)
understand that there is and was FIERCE competition for 'who' surrounds the President.
The primary players are a competing 'mafia' of influence between the 'DoS/CIA', the Pentagon and Israel.
They must 'share' the 'pie' of course (they cooperate/quid pro quo) but... the bigger the 'piece' the more they control.
They are ALL about protecting their 'turf'... and THAT ultimately translates to money to the downstream lines (legal or illegal).

The State Dept/CIA have been in control for 8 years during Obama and had become entrenched.
Hillary was their continuing ticket and hence their effort at 'insurance' in the 2016 election.
Now Trump is suddenly surrounded by Generals/Pentagon. Kushner represents the Zionist wing.
Bannon (I believe) was a CIA 'insider'... whom the Pentagon crew booted out.
and so on and so on...
    hope that helps somebody.
    cheers.

Steve Bannon is already cutting deals with Mueller

By David Gilbert Jan 18, 2018

Steve Bannon will not appear in front of a grand jury following a subpoena from Robert Mueller. Instead the former White House strategist is cutting a deal to meet with special counsel prosecutors in private, according to reports Thursday.
The revelation comes two days after the former Breitbart chief appeared before the House Intelligence Committee probing Russian meddling in the 2016 election and refused to answer questions about his time on the transition team or inside the White House.

Report: Bannon won't stay silent with Mueller

Steve Bannon refused to answer questions from the House Intelligence Committee Tuesday about his time in the administration because the White House invoked executive privilege, but he will not be similarly mum with Robert Mueller, a source tells the Daily Beast.
“'Mueller will hear everything Bannon has to say,' said the source, who is familiar with Bannon’s thinking."

Why it matters: Mueller subpoenaed Bannon to testify before a grand jury, and the executive privilege used to block him from answering the committee's questions won't apply, per the Daily Beast's report.

You have to get past the 'shock' response/emotional responses..
as you follow 'leads', money trails, associations, and 'proximity' analyses during any investigation.
You have to set aside the 'I just can't believe it!' and press on.

You also need to understand the insidious nature of greed.
Most (if not ALL) of these players do NOT see themselves as traitors. Understand that.
Senators, Generals, Directors of Intelligence and enforcement have a mindset that bypasses their conscience or guilt.

I suggest that it approaches something similar as "to the victor belongs the spoils" mindset.
They feel it's their 'right' as 'top dogs' and 'conquerors' to 'understandably' take advantage
of what (to them) is simply the 'low hanging fruit'... aka 'It's there for the taking and I deserve it.'

Their 'position' is something they feel they worked hard for.
This is true in ALL COUNTRIES and power structures..
they begin to see 'each other' as simply 'customers' and associates to enable the operations.. without 'flags'.
Drugs, weapons, ore, 'secrets', organs, sex etc. it doesn't really matter once you've opened the 'door'.

    Yes.
It's peering into the heart of darkness and temptation.
Whether it 'rapin Bill' or 'we came we saw he died Hillary'.
When all it 'takes' is a 'signature' or a 'vote' we're talking perhaps 90% of Congress.
    But..
    when 'conscience strikes' what then?
This is where McCabe and the 'query about' surveillance comes in... looking for dirt.
    No dirt?
'Create it' with sting operations using sex and drugs. Once they're compromised, you own them.
Their vote, their signature, their companies, their influence, their cooperation.
It's the essence of 'dirty cop' and it's rife.

    It then goes past this.
    They're invited 'in'.
"You don't have to cooperate for 'free' yunno. You can benefit... get rich." "Join us."

If this whole thing begins to be 'unraveled' along partisan lines
    we should be rightly terrified.
I hope and pray that does not happen.
It would be a harbinger of something much worse being set in place.

I don't know who first made the analogy to the 'ring' in the tower trilogy
    but it's absolutely identical.

The 'first thought' upon 'capturing' the 702 'ring' is:

'I can use this for GOOD!.... TWO can play this 'game'...
I will 'reverse' the 'database of corruption'.
    then
'Why use the court system?' (enter justification here
"It's slow. Dysfunctional. Filled with loopholes. Corrupt Lawyers and Judges. etc etc"

    "I know what to do.
'Persuade' the 'important figureheads' to 'retire. resign. step down.'
'Seize/Freeze the assets of the corporations and foreign players'
    'Fire all the corrupted underlings'.
"This will be faster and efficient... We can 'Drain the Swamp' OURSELVES"

    So..
they never throw the 'RING' into the fire.
    and
they can NOW be 'selective' in 'who' gets 'persuaded'/resigns/destroyed and fired'.

    If you see 'transparency' resisted..
If you see 'open trials and open testimonies' resisted.. gag orders...
If you see the 'hammer' and 'resignations' falling along partisan lines...

Then Frodo doesn't have the ring anymore and we're in REALLY deep shiit.

Think of a self-righteous, all powerful Nikki Haley on steroids with no opposition.
