Switzerland's New Immigration Statute Sets High Hurdle for Citizenship

A new law in Switzerland seeks to stanch the flow of immigrants into the small Alpine confederation renown for its historic adherence to principles of liberty and federalism.
Regulations promulgated by the law, which became effective this month, prevent immigrants who have received welfare in the past three years from being granted the vaunted status of “citizen” until they have paid the money back to the government.
An Austrian article written in German and translated into English by this author sets out the significant impediments to immigrants who seek asylum for the sake of banking Swiss francs.
Other provisions prevent temporary asylum seekers from applying for citizenship unless they have been granted a “settlement permit” (roughly the equivalent of Permanent Resident in the U.S.) after five or ten years.

Additionally, presence in Switzerland alone will not qualify an immigrant for consideration of citizenship status, either. The Swiss government now mandates a modicum of integration into Swiss culture before an immigrant can become a citizen.
And, in keeping with its confederate constitution, while a certain level of language proficiency will satisfy the general government, the threshold is higher in several cantons (states) where the flow of immigrants has been higher.

It is already hard to get Swiss citizenship and at the same time the reduced the time you need to be in the country to apply for citizenship from twelve years to ten.
According to Mises, this is little change from previous law.

    https://mises.org/power-market/switz...ng-citizenship

It has apparently been established law for some time that immigrants collecting social benefits are barred from naturalization. The new law, however, now also prohibits naturalization if an applicant has accepted social benefits at any time during the previous three years.

An exception is made if the benefits "are paid back in full."

On the other hand, applicants for citizenship now must only have resided in Switzerland for ten years instead of 12, as was the case before the new law took effect.
Immigrants help funding Swiss Social Security:

    Are migrants funding Swiss pensions?

According to a report from the Federal Social Insurance Office, between 2001 and 2010 the proportion contributed to old age security, the cornerstone of the Swiss pension system, by European Union citizens rose from 18.5% to 22%. The proportion contributed by the Swiss themselves fell from 75.2% to 72.8%.
If costs of administration, infrastructure and social welfare occasioned by immigrants are subtracted from what they pay in the form of taxes and other deductions, Switzerland’s net benefit comes to CHF6.5 billion ($7.25 billion). The battle of the numbers goes on.

Police: There are no 'no-go zones' in Sweden

When the police authority a few years ago identified over 50 areas that needed prioritising, it was turned into a story about 'no-go zones' in Sweden. There is no such thing, says local police chief Erik Åkerlund.

A few years ago, as part of the reorganisation of the Swedish police force, the national operations department NOA collated a report in which local police identified over 50 "vulnerable areas," which needed more attention from the police. And just over a year ago, 15 of these areas were identified as "particularly vulnerable." Another handful were deemed to be in the "risk zone."

The new law requires that to qualify for citizenship, one must also be free of any welfare benefits for at least three years. It provides an exception for anyone that received benefits but paid them back in full.

Police: There are no 'no-go zones' in Sweden

I am going to say the same thing to you that I say to the anti-vax morons: It's too bad you can't be bothered to actually check your facts. You're so intent on proving your lefty points that you have no interest in facts.

    The upper government is lying.
In March 2015, journalist Henrik Höjer discussed the rise of criminality, especially organized crime, in various neighborhoods within Sweden since the mid-1990s, especially in the city of Malmö. He interviewed a police officer and task force chief who referred to such areas as "no go areas" and wrote that gangs like to lay claim to an area by throwing stones at mailmen, police, firefighters and ambulances who enter the area.
In February 2016, a news crew for Australia's 60 Minutes working with anti-immigration activist Jan Sjunnesson reported having come under attack, including having stones thrown on them and a car running over the foot of a cameraman who was trying to prevent it from leaving in the immigrant-dominated district of Rinkeby of Stockholm. 60 Minutes published the video, on which reporter Liz Hayes states "there are now 55 declared no-go zones in Sweden."[53]
In a 2017 interview with the Weekly Standard's Paulina Neuding (sv), Gordon Grattidge, described as the head of the Swedish ambulance drivers' union, stated that there were areas where it is too dangerous for rescue workers to enter without police protection, using the English term "no-go zones" to describe them
