Title is a little misleading, Ron talks about Nuclear Policies and modernizing our current arsenal. Title itself is what was put on the Ron Paul Institute site, so Im not trying to change things to create fear, or say Ron Paul is saying something he is not. I just wanted to make that clear.

This nuclear first strike policy is insanely dangerous. Even if you trusted Trump and his advisers to exercise extreme wisdom, insight and judgment in the use of nuclear first strike (which no one should), this policy still opens the door for the next Trump or Hillary and every future president, administration or neocon infiltrated cabinet to initiate nuclear war with a nuclear first strike for any of the pretexts created.

It is a propaganda campaign to make use of nuclear weapons acceptable to the public. As McAdams points out they call them "low yield" or tactical nukes to make it sound more acceptable for destroying other nations. Keep in mind the nightmare infernos dropped are Hiroshima and Nagasaki are super low yield nukes compared to today's technology.

It sends a message to every other nation on the planet that they can be targeted with nuclear weapons by the US. It tells them they must get their own weapons. After witnessing Washington destruction of Libya, Syria, Yugoslavia, and regime changes in Ukraine and others, any nation that has ever disagreed with Washington policy on anything or ever may must get their own nuclear weapons as defense to Washington's nuclear first strike policy.

This is worse than bad policy. It is obscenely insane.

Which is another problem. US assignments of blame in cyberattacks are rarely grounded in evidence or reality, but rather they blame whoever is politically expedient at the time, whether it’s Russia, China, or North Korea. Such reckless blame is relatively consequence-free when the US just responds with angry threats, but nuclear strikes could quickly start massive, civilization ending nuclear warfare.

Making nuclear war more likely is the general theme of the Nuclear Posture Review ... The Trump Administration has spent its entire time in power easing restrictions on the military, and giving commanders more and more leeway on their operations. It might not be such a surprise for that to spill over into nuclear weapon policy.

Both provide good insight into the dangers inherent in further blurring the lines between when nuclear weapons use is and is not acceptable, and the completely illogical rationale for doing so. ... it's very telling that such insightful takes on this issue of unparalleled importance are relegated to small alternative media outlets. ...

Is this sort of like how Trump embraced banning bumpstocks and assault rifles and deteriorating our due process in order to diffuse the left and then two days later decided he didn't want gun control anymore and wanted to have strong due process and protect the 2nd amendment?

I'm going to take a wild guess and say yes, Trump doesn't actually want to drop a nuclear bomb, he just pretends like he will so other countries being lead by tyrants get their act together and stop treating their citizens like crap and stop taking advantage of us through trade agreements and such.
