Damore Sues Google: 'Discriminates against white male conservatives'

James Damore just filed a class action lawsuit against Google, saying it discriminates against white male conservatives

    https://techcrunch.com/2018/01/08/ja...conservatives/

James Damore's original complaint was whistleblowing against what he perceived to be a hostile work environment. In response, he faced threats and harassment from coworkers who were later given bonuses by upper management for arguing against and threatening Damore.

Lets just say that this is true. Hypothetical. Google does discriminate. If it were true, would you put it past google to also discriminate against white male conservative web users?

This case is gonna bust google hard, lawyers are gonna make buckets of money.
    also:
Google’s internal company systems allowed employees and managers to maintain a “block list” of other employees with whom they did not wish to interact. For example, if A adds B to her block list, B is not able to look A up in the company directory, communicate with A through the internal instant messaging system, view A’s contact information or management chain, or see A’s posts on internal social media. A and B would not be able to work together constructively on an engineering project if either person blocked the other.

I get why someone would do this to make a political point, but at the end of the day we should be arguing FOR a company's right to discriminate.

The problem isn't that they discriminate against white men, it's that they're prohibited from discriminating against other groups.

Ya but 98% of the population doesn't think that companies should have the legal right to discriminate (and ya, of course they should be able to). So you have to take it a step at a time to help society as a whole understand the problems.

The problem right now is that under the guise of "equality", the left has devised a system that does not treat people equally under the law. White conservatives aren't supposed to be able to sue because they were discriminated against, and that is what Damore is trying to change. Once everybody has equal footing under the law, then these discrimination schemes by the left become fairly nonviable.

    Google's Cult

James Damore’s class action complaint describes a creepy cult-like orthodoxy at Google, where dissent is smashed, and the color of your skin is far more important than the content of your character. Reading the complaint is a deep dive into wicked, racial groupthink, and a frightening reminder that it really can happen here. ...

all of the rancid, racialist, thuggish things going on at Google ... read the whole complaint. It’s like reading Solzhenitsyn’s travel log from Ekibastuze. ... the psychologies of totalitarianism in their timeless forms. The purges. The moral relativism. The threats. The lists of enemies. The upside-down world of the wicked justifying their wickedness. ... Google doesn’t have the Google Gulag, but the thinking that is normal inside a powerful institution like Google should alarm all actual, normal Americans.

Damore’s worst sin at Google was to be white and male and to presume that shouldn’t matter. ... where "whiteness" is wickedness, where "maleness" is a construct ...

Google “formed opinions about and then treated Plaintiffs not based on their individual merits, but rather memberships in groups with assumed characteristics,” ...

Google hires on the basis of race and sex, and punishes (and even fires) employees if they articulate political views that are not Leftist views. ... Google created company sanctioned blacklists, harassment committees, and even encouraged open vocal attacks on white males at company events. ...

Damore’s gravest thoughtcrime was ... suggesting that Google reassess the company policy of hiring on the basis of race and sex in order to reduce the role of white males. ... the Code of Conduct Team referred Damore to human resources for discipline.... in August 2017, firing him. Before his firing, Damore attended Google diversity training. One session, called “Bias Busting,” was run by a unit at Google called the [brain washing] “Unbiasing Group,” and it focused entirely on ... “white male privilege.” ...

Damore posted his memo urging that employees stop being hired and promoted on the basis of race and immutable characteristics ... Managers attacked him on the discussion boards. ... managers encouraged threats of violence against Damore. Alex Hidalgo, a Google “Site Reliability Engineer,” emailed Damore from ahildago@google.com: “you’re a misogynist and terrible person. I will keep hounding you until one of us is fired. $#@! you.”

Other employees demanded that not only Damore be fired, but anyone who thought like him. Alon Altman, another Google thought policeman, posted -- without any hint of irony -- that firing anyone sympathetic to Damore "will send a message that we have zero tolerance for intolerance.” Altman missed his true calling by about 84 years.

After Damore was fired, the “Google Recognition Team” allowed for financial bonuses for any employees who attacked Damore’s views publicly. This is the 2017 version of “Party Membership.”

Things got doubleplusgood for Google employee Simone Wu. She won a Peer Bonus for attacking Damore, and -- according to a company-wide email -- “doing a fantastic job speaking up for googley values and promoting D&I [diversity and inclusion] in the wretched hive of scum and villainy that is g/pc-harmful-discuss" ...
Google manager Kim Burchett drafted a Google document ... on how Google employees could silence opinions with which they disagreed.
Employee Colm Buckley says “there are certain alternative views I do not want people to feel safe to share here.” He characterizes Damore’s views as believing “women or minorities are unqualified,” something Damore never said and does not believe, proving again that justification for thuggery is often built on a lie. ...

Google maintains secret blacklists of conservative authors and news sites. Google sought to stifle conservative parenting styles, and made anyone using traditional parenting techniques unwelcome. ... Google promoted policies to reward other lifestyles, including “furries, polygamy, transgenderism and plurality.”

Google employee Kim Burchett volunteered to manage a purge ... a company list of “people who make diversity difficult. ... I personally will be the judge of what is included and excluded. ... Things I am pondering: should inclusion on the list require something resembling a trial?”

Google employee Liz Fong-Jones (Twitter: @lizthegrey) rolled out the most ancient of justifications for racism: it benefits everyone else not of the discriminated against race. She felt racism towards whites was goodthink: “If there is any harm to the interests of white men from that work, it is more than made up for by the benefits to everyone as a whole.” ...

the psychology of totalitarianism. Today, that totalitarian psychology seems to dominate the corporate culture at one of the most powerful gatekeepers to American political thought. Thought trials, threats, orthodoxy, shunning, racialism, moral relativism, enforcement committees, and cult-like hunts for thought-crime reveal Google as an echo chamber that aims to control the thinking of the world.

My wife and I did some comparison searches between the two engines and was amazed at Google's obvious slant.

Search things like "women are trash, women are worthless", craps like that.
Not only do they filter out thousands of thoughts, they instead deliver the opposite, and tell you why men are trash, why your wife wants to leave you because you suck, and oh hell, lots of junk.... just so obvious.

Anyway we had fun with it for a good while and found DDG actually delivered the correct and unbiased result.

James Damore’s labor complaint against Google was completely shut down

    https://www.theverge.com/2018/2/16/1...discrimination

    Feb 16, 2018

Google didn’t violate labor laws by firing engineer James Damore for a memo criticizing the company’s diversity program, according to a recently disclosed letter from the US National Labor Relations Board. The lightly redacted statement is written by Jayme Sophir, associate general counsel of the NLRB’s division of advice; it dates to January, but was released yesterday, according to Law.com. Sophir concludes that while some parts of Damore’s memo were legally protected by workplace regulations, “the statements regarding biological differences between the sexes were so harmful, discriminatory, and disruptive as to be unprotected.”

Damore filed an NLRB complaint in August of 2017, after being fired for internally circulating a memo opposing Google’s diversity efforts. Sophir recommends dismissing the case; Bloomberg reports that Damore withdrew it in January, and that his lawyer says he’s focusing on a separate lawsuit alleging discrimination against conservative white men at Google. NLRB records state that its case was closed on January 19th.

In her analysis, Sophir writes that employers should be given “particular deference” in trying to enforce anti-discrimination and anti-harassment policies, since these are tied to legal requirements. And employers have “a strong interest in promoting diversity” and cooperation across different groups of people. Because of this, “employers must be permitted to ‘nip in the bud’ the kinds of employee conduct that could lead to a ‘hostile workplace,’” she writes. “Where an employee’s conduct significantly disrupts work processes, creates a hostile work environment, or constitutes racial or sexual discrimination or harassment, the Board has found it unprotected even if it involves concerted activities regarding working conditions.”

Damore’s memo, titled “Google’s Ideological Echo Chamber,” contended that Google’s diversity efforts were misplaced because they ignored women’s biologically driven disinterest in technology. It includes many claims, which have previously been dissected in detail online. But Sophir focuses specifically on Damore’s “statements about immutable traits linked to sex — such as women’s heightened neuroticism and men’s prevalence at the top of the IQ distribution.” These statements were “discriminatory and constituted sexual harassment, notwithstanding [Damore’s] effort to cloak [his] comments with ‘scientific’ references and analysis,” she writes. Moreover, she says Google “carefully tailored” its reasons for firing Damore, limiting them to unprotected portions of the memo.

Some legal experts suggested that Damore might have a solid legal complaint, if he could argue that he was discussing working conditions. But that apparently wasn’t a strong enough case for the NLRB — and Damore will be making an arguably tougher one in claiming that Google is systematically biased against white men.

James Damore, a computer engineer who whipped up a storm in Silicon Valley after claiming that the gender gap among technology workers was down to biological differences between men and women, said that he was one of the 100 workers working on the top secret Project Dragonfly.
Google was forced to admit the existence of a censored Search engine late last year after a whistle-blower leaked it to the press.
The Harvard University graduate also said that during his tenure at the Mountain View campus, he had reported a number of "legal issues" that had "probably not been fixed", without elaborating on what they were.
The claims were made amid a twist in an ongoing legal battle between Google and Mr Damore, played out across social media on Monday evening. An anonymous person claiming to be a Google employee who was involved in the firing of Mr Damore, published a statement on popular link-sharing website Reddit that suggested Google had been spying on the software engineer and leaked stories to the press to try and drum up ill feeling toward him before he was sacked.
Wow, a Google insider lays out how they conspired to quell dissent by making an example of me, manipulating the media, and lobbying the NLRB.

It can't be fully verified, but they have intimate knowledge of the situation.https://t.co/UaSVHgS5vIpic.twitter.com/VsoR6RDI3x

    — James Damore (@JamesADamore) January 8, 2019
The post, which has since been shared by Mr Damore on Twitter, read: “We needed to make an example of Damore. Looking for some excuse to fire him, we spied on his phone and computer. We didn't find anything, although our spying probably made his devices unusably slow, preventing him from organizing support within the company.
“When we did fire him, our reputation and integrity took a hit, but at least other employees were now afraid to speak up.”
Under the post, which was shared on Reddit, Mr Damore wrote “Whoah [sic], this would explain a lot. I was one of about 100 employees that knew about Dragonfly.
“I also did report several legal issues in Search that they probably haven't fixed.”
