A Wichita police officer was placed on administrative leave after a girl was injured when the officer tried to shoot a dog inside a home on Saturday.

The officer tried to shoot a dog that charged at him while in a home in the 1500 block of North Gentry, near 13th and Hillside, at around 6:15 p.m., Officer Paul Cruz said in a statement. The shot missed the dog, the round broke into fragments when it hit a hard floor, and a piece of fragment ricocheted and hit a 9-year-old girl in the forehead just above her right eye.

The girl was treated and released from a local hospital that night.

Officers were responding to a 911 call of a domestic dispute and suicidal person with a gun, and they were told a 33-year-old man in the home had held a gun in his mouth and choked a dog, the statement said.

At the scene, officers were told a handgun was in a bedroom underneath a pillow on a bed. The mid-size, mixed-breed dog charged while the officer was looking for the gun, the statement said.

The officer who fired the shot was placed on administrative leave, following protocol, the statement said.
How can this be? Wouldn't the officer have been torn to shreds by the vicious dog he tried to shoot?

Well, at least they didn't kill the first person they saw, like they did on Thursday night with the "hostage" situation.

I'm going to state that this is a physical improbability, unless they are very loose with their meaning of the word "gun" or "dog".

911 operators are not always clear as to the details of the SWATTING,, only that "SHOOT first it's bad".
Liberty is lost through complacency and a subservient mindset. When we accept or even welcome automobile checkpoints, random searches, mandatory identification cards, and paramilitary police in our streets, we have lost a vital part of our American heritage. America was born of protest, revolution, and mistrust of government. Subservient societies neither maintain nor deserve freedom for long.

Swat a low live in Detroit and no one will notice. Swat a prominent person in society and the cops will not pull the trigger.

A few minutes ago I saw a personal example of cops hut hutting around, endangering the public. I heard a loud roar coming down the street and looked outside -- I saw a Sheriff's SUV followed closely by an unmarked one, both probably going around 100 mph.

The vehicle they were chasing was long gone. All three had to have blown through the stop sign at the end of the street. It's a busy intersection too, lots of wrecks -- just luckily this time of day, not so busy. And all this in a residential neighborhood.

Was the Father charged with attempted murder of his Daughter? Seems most deadly actions by cops are projected on to the ironically called perpetrator.

All these years of policing and still cannot figure out how to deal with dogs, medical episodes, psychological problems, or even automotive blinker failure.

Someday everyone else is going to realize that yes, they have figured out EXACTLY how they want to handle these, and had it figured out from day 1.
There are no crimes against people.
There are only crimes against the state.
And the state will never, ever choose to hold accountable its agents, because a thing can not commit a crime against itself.
