My mother, Jimmie Kate, 86 yrs. old, suffered a stroke this past Christmas Eve/Christmas Day. She took a bath and when she got out she was feeling numbness on her left side. She simply went and lie down. Two hours later when my dad came into go to bedroom she mentioned it to him. He gave her an 856 aspirin and called 9-11. She was admitted. With a 240 BP. She had a mini-stroke.
Nothing ever moves quickly in a hospital except the nurses. So many tests between then and now. The hospital is great for the most part. The facility and nursing staff are the best. I learned this last year when my dad broke his hip. And thanks for the prayers for that!
But, they only have one neurologist and that one is on vacation. So her admittance doctor consulted with the vascular surgeons. My mom has a 50-60 carotid plaque impairment. The clot they think caused the stroke is located in her brain stem. They don't want to operate on either, given her advanced age. A week before, her GP, who is one of the two vascular consultants at the hospital, sent her for tests because of her high blood pressure, figuring renal stenosis. She was supposed to consult with her 3 days after her stroke regarding this. So it was a good thing the scans had been already been done. She has blockage of the veins to her kidney. There is a clot in the brain stem, but they don't know if that was the cause of the stroke or high blood pressure.
Yesterday my mothers Primary Doctor was advised by the two vascular surgeons to administer Halperin to dissolve and loosen the clot in her stem. Today he said that he was kept awake all night. He just didn't feel this was the correct course at this time. Halperin can free a clot but it also can cause a brain bleed. So he called a fellow at Wake Forest Baptist that referred him to their Neuro-Stroke specialist. He told him under no means administer Halperin. Ship her over for testing and evaluation by him. He said the floor was full but he would make room for her today. Sure enough around 5pm room was made and she was transported.
So far, I really feel blessed considering the circumstance.
But, there is still a long way to go.
If you will do this you have my heartfell thanks. I may not witness the prayer, but just knowing there is someone out there, taking a moment of their day to send blessings, makes a difference. Thank you.
I only need prayer. A RPF member could use a prayer and some help fund wise. Please say a prayer for my mom, but please give to our fellow jllundqu. http://www.ronpaulforums.com/showthr...63#post6568263
