NYC bus terminal attacker says Israeli actions in Gaza a motivating factor
The attacker in the bus terminal explosion in New York City told authorities Monday that he was
motivated by Israeli actions in Gaza, reports CNN.
The suspect, Akayed Ullah, spoke with authorities at Bellevue Hospital where he was taken after the bomb went off. He was the only person severely injured in the attack after his homemade pipe bomb failed to fully detonate near the Port Authority bus terminal in midtown Manhattan.
“This is a person who was living in New York, a cab driver, car service driver, who was annoyed, irritated by our political position, or sympathetic to ISIS etc.,” Gov. Andrew Cuomo, New York Democrat, said on MSNBC.
Over the weekend, Israeli groups claim they destroyed a tunnel between Gaza and Israel. This is also the
first instance of a terrorist attack in the U.S. since President Trump announced the U.S. would recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, sparking outrage and protests across the Muslim world.
