    Question An American Foreign Legion?

Maj. Matthew Peterson suggests in the December issue of “Marine Corps Gazette” that the Marines form a “Marine Legion,” relying on a combination of foreign recruits and senior Marine NCOs. “All personnel above the rank of sergeant would be America Marines, all others (including sergeants) would be non-U.S. citizens recruited to address the unique requirements of each geographic combatant command.”

A Foreign Legion is a losers gimmick, it is almost always a sign of a dying empire.

There have always been "foreign legions", what made the FFL unique in modern time was it's origin and legendary last stands, but pro armies were mostly foreign mercs until the last three hundred years, when militaries were nationalized. The Roman legions in their heyday were drawing from foreigners. Its standing armies that are stupid; knowing the military's love for diversity, we'll be recruiting Liberian women who've had twelve babies, or Filipino trannies.
