Default House Republicans Prepare Contempt Action Against FBI, DOJ

U.S. House Republicans are drafting a contempt of Congress resolution against Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein and FBI Director Christopher Wray, claiming stonewalling in producing material related to the Russia-Trump probes and other matters.
Intelligence Chairman Devin Nunes and other committee Republicans, after considering such action for several weeks, decided to move after media including the New York Times reported Saturday on why a top FBI official assigned to Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s probe of Russia-Trump election collusion had been removed from the investigation.
Republicans, including the president, pointed to the reports as evidence that the entire probe into Russian meddling has been politically motivated.
“Now it all starts to make sense,” Trump said on Twitter Sunday.
In his statement Saturday, Nunes pointed to the reports that the official, Peter Strzok, was removed after allegedly having exchanged anti-Trump and pro-Hillary Clinton text messages with his mistress, who was an FBI lawyer working for Deputy FBI Director Andrew McCabe.
Another Trump tweet referred to the agent as “tainted (no, very dishonest?).” The president added that the FBI’s reputation “is in Tatters - worst in History!” In a busy morning of notes to his 44 million followers, Trump earlier said that “I never asked” former FBI Director James Comey “to stop investigating Flynn. Just more Fake News covering another Comey lie!”

Justice Dept. offers up key witness in Russia probe as House Intel Chair threatens contempt

The Justice Department has agreed to allow congressional investigators to interview a key FBI employee believed to have served as the main contact, or "handler" of, former British intelligence agent Christopher Steele, who compiled the so-called "dossier" of allegations about President Donald Trump's connections to Russia, according to a department spokesperson.

The FBI agent who was fired from Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s Russia investigation team for sending anti-Donald Trump text messages conducted the interviews with two Hillary Clinton aides accused of giving false statements about what they knew of the former secretary of state’s private email server.
Neither of the Clinton associates, Cheryl Mills and Huma Abedin, faced legal consequences for their misleading statements, which they made in interviews last year with former FBI section chief Peter Strzok.
But another Strzok interview subject was not so lucky.
Michael Flynn, the former national security adviser, pleaded guilty last week to lying during an interview he gave on Jan. 24 to Strzok and another FBI agent. Circa journalist Sara Carter reported on Monday that Strzok took part in that interview with the retired lieutenant general.

The rumblings that Special Counsel Mueller's Russia investigation is perilously compromised by political bias are about to grow a whole lot louder.
Just a couple of days after it was revealed that FBI veteran, Peter Strzok, was removed from Mueller's team due to the discovery of anti-Trump text messages exchanged with a colleague (whom he happened to be having an extra-marital affair with), and hours after the WSJ editorial board called for Mueller to step down for being "too conflicted", Judicial Watch has released emails obtained via FOIA that reveal another agent and a Mueller deputy, Andrew Weissmann, praising former Acting Attorney General Sally Yates' efforts to defy a direct order from President Trump on the enforcement of his travel ban executive order.

"I am so proud. And in awe. Thank you so much. All my deepest respects."

The email from Weissmann came exactly 1 hour after Yates was relieved of her duties with the Department of Justice by President Trump for refusing to enforce his travel ban executive order.

    Andrew Weissmann
There's another partisan infiltrator. The top levels of the FBI are hopelessly corrupted.

Encouraging whistle blowers instead of jailing them might help.

Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley is stepping up his investigation into liberal bias among FBI agents and Justice Department officials.
The Iowa Republican is pressing the FBI for documents related to the activities of FBI agent Peter Strzok following reports that he demonstrated bias against President Trump while playing key roles in investigations into former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's private email server and in the special counsel probe into the Trump campaign's possible ties to Russia.
"The communications between members of the Clinton email investigation team raise questions about the integrity of that investigation and about the objectivity of Mr. Strzok's work for the special counsel and in the FBI's investigation of [former national security adviser Michael] Flynn," Grassley wrote in a letter to FBI Director Christopher Wray.
"Strzok's behavior and involvement in these two politically sensitive cases raises new concerns of inappropriate political influence in the work of the FBI," Grassley added.
Grassley's office on Wednesday said the FBI has failed to comply with previous, broader Judiciary Committee requests that called for records relating to the communications of Stzrok and others.

Mueller Investigator Personally Represented Ben Rhodes, Clinton Foundation

Fox News’s Laura Ingraham revealed Tuesday night that Jeannie Rhee — whom Mueller hired over the summer to probe President Trump and his associates over charges they worked with Russian officials to steal the election from Hillary Clinton — donated the legal maximum to the former secretary of state’s presidential campaign in 2015 and again in 2016. Rhee has also donated more than $16,000 to Democrats since 2008.
Rhee also served as the personal attorney for Ben Rhodes, a deputy national security adviser for President Barack Obama who infamously bragged about lying to reporters to dupe lawmakers and the public into supporting the Iran Deal.
