police chief's gun missing after he left it in library bathroom

Didn't notice it missing for four days?? How much you wanna bet the gun was used in a crime and he wanted to get it out of his possession?

The Prescott Valley police chief 's duty weapon went missing after he left it in a library bathroom stall, according to a department bulletin.

The Prescott Valley Police Department issued a bulletin Monday about Police Chief Bryan Jarrell's firearm, which he inadvertently left in a bathroom stall while changing there following a town council meeting at about 6 p.m. Nov. 9.

Jarrell apparently didn't realize the firearm was missing until four days later, on Nov. 13. The bulletin said he immediately reported the loss when he discovered the weapon was gone.

Police described the firearm as a black, 9-mm Glock 19 with a serial number of YHC 944.

Authorities ask anyone with information regarding the weapon to call the Prescott Valley Police Department at 928-772-5120.

The library is at 7401 E. Civic Circle, in Prescott Valley, about 90 miles north of Phoenix.

A similar incident happened at a public library in the Phoenix area in September. An off-duty Phoenix police officer left a firearm inside a bathroom stall at a Chandler public library on the Hamilton High School campus Sept. 29. A student turned in the weapon.

Prior to joining the Prescott Valley Police Department, Jarrell worked as a police executive in Southfield, Michigan, from 1985 to 2013, the last 10 years of which were spent as deputy police chief, according to the bio on the department's website.

How the hell do you not notice your service weapon is missing until 4 days has passed? It's something you take off every evening and put on every morning. It's kinda like saying "Well, I drive my car to work every morning, but I haven't noticed I was missing the keys, even though I've been driving to work for the last 4 days." The guys a liar.
