"There was madness in any direction, at any hour. You could strike sparks anywhere. There was a fantastic universal sense that whatever we were doing was right, that we were winning.

And that I think, was the handle. That sense of inevitable victory over the forces of Old and Evil. Not in any mean or military sense; we didn't need that. Our energy would simply prevail. We had all the momentum; we were riding the crest of a high and beautiful wave." ~ HST

    Going to Court.

After Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) was ambushed outside of his home, the leftist attacker Rene Boucher attempted to downplay the vicious assault by saying it was a simple neighborhood dispute. The mainstream media pushed that narrative, but that didn’t stop federal prosecutors from charging Boucher.

Boucher will go to U.S. District Court on Mar. 9 for his initial appearance in his federal court case. He has agreed to plead guilty to the charge of assaulting a member of Congress. He could receive up to ten years for this felony, but is only expected to serve 21 months in prison under a plea deal that has been reached.

“I was very sick. I had pneumonia twice. I had trouble breathing at night. I really struggled for weeks and weeks to recover from this,” Paul said to Stephen Colbert last month during an appearance on his television show.

Boucher has stuck to his story that this had to do with Paul’s landscaping rather than his political beliefs. However, Boucher had a long history of posting radical socialist propaganda on his Facebook page. He was an avowed Bernie Sanders supporter, but is sticking to his story to avoid greater charges for what was likely a politically motivated act of violence. Paul was also attacked by a terrorist shooter outside of a Congressional baseball practice last year, but escaped the gunfire.

“I’ve been shot at. I’ve been mugged. I’m hoping 2018 is a better year,” Paul said. “People come up to me all the time and want to commiserate because it is pretty painful.”

A highlight for Paul’s new year may be seeing the man who blindsided him put behind bars where he belongs.

Neighbor pleads guilty in Senator Rand Paul attack

    BOWLING GREEN, Ky —
The neighbor of Kentucky Senator Rand Paul pleaded guilty to attacking Paul.

Rene Boucher pleaded guilty to assaulting the Senator resulting in personal injury, a felony under federal law.

Boucher tackled Paul in November while he was mowing his lawn, causing multiple fractured ribs and he subsequently contracted and required medical attention for pneumonia.

Boucher admitted the assault but denied it was politically motivated and said it was a dispute between neighbors.

Boucher's final sentencing is tentatively scheduled for June 15th.

The recommended sentence is 21 months and a fine.

Boucher has been released on a $25,000 unsecured bond and is to have no contact with Paul or his family.

I am still curious as to what sparked this? The guy says it wasn't politically motivated--he had to know Rand was a sitting senator.

Best guess is that it was a combination of things.. but the thing is, if there is even 1 degree of it being political, then ultimately the reason was still political. You can add all the other reasons in you want, it doesn't change anything.

Would he have attacked him if there were no lawn clipping or yard issues? We'll never know, but maybe not.. the thing is, people like that are good at finding things wrong that aren't there. Rand's other neighbors said his yard looked great and he kept it up well.

So the other question becomes, if Rand was a Democrat and a doctor and wasn't really into politics would he have attacked him? I'm guessing not. He probably would have said something instead, or it just wouldn't have bothered him.

Maybe to find the actual reason for the attack a person would have to research what was going on at the time that needed a diversion.

Rene Boucher sentenced for Rand Paul assault

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WBKO) - The man convicted of attacking Senator Rand Paul was sentenced in federal court Friday.
Rene Boucher was sentenced to 30 days in custody of the bureau of prisons followed by one year of supervised release, a $10,000 fine, to have no intentional contact with the Paul family, and 100 hours of community service.
The court did not order any financial restitution, and at the time none was asked for.
Boucher waived his right to appeal and he will report to prison on his own.
Sen. Paul released the following statement following the sentencing:
"No one deserves to be violently assaulted. A felony conviction with jail time is appropriate and hopefully will deter the attacker from further violence. I commend the FBI and Department of Justice for treating this violent, pre-meditated assault with the seriousness it deserves."
Sen. Paul also believed jail time was appropriate, but not the length of the final sentence.
"We believe the original 21 month sentence requested would have been the appropriate punishment."
Boucher attacked Paul back in November of last year as Paul was mowing his lawn.
In March, Boucher pleaded "guilty" to the charge of "Assaulting a member of Congress."
30 days!? well aren't they sending a message. I wonder how many people out there are saying to themselves, "only 30 days for assaulting a congressman? that might be worth it."

Well, if it is sufficiently important to someone, the new convict is easily hunted after his release.

As to the institution behind this travesty, nobody should be surprised.

Don't worry. If someone tackles a Democrat, you will see what punishment really is. All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others.

It's time for the civil suit, Rand needs to take him for everything and more so that he is working for Rand for the rest of his life.

I recall to reading the civil suit was already in progress some time ago. With a felony, I doubt he is going to be working in his chosen career any longer.

this guy is getting less time than the time it took for rand to even recover from the injuries.

    Remember, pneumonia is life threatening.

That's not a long enough sentence. This is a crime with a victim who will never quite overcome the assault. Jail plus a hefty fine that requires liquidation of his home.

I doubt Rand will pursue any further, what do you guys think?

It really wouldn't look good on him as a senator to appear like this really bothers him and going for extra long sentencing. But then again pneumonia is very serious, putting his and his family's quality of life at stake.

Could be possible that the judge is a liberal and/or has something personal against Rand or allies.

Other than the civil suit I don't think he can do anything about it, that is why he needs to take the freak for everything he owns and enough more to keep the freak paying him for the rest of his life.
