How Ron Paul Gets The NFL 'Take The Knee' Controversy Wrong (Reason.com)

I'm not an NFL consumer but if I were, I wouldn't be boycotting them for not prohibiting non-interruptive free speech. There's no delay by their kneeling, the anthem gets played and the game goes on.

If Ron Paul wants to boycott the NFL that's his free speech/free market right. He's not twisting anyone’s arm.

The beltway "libertarians" at Reason have their panties in a bunch (a perpetual condition over there) that Ron Paul accurately related these protests to cultural Marxism. This is indisputable to anyone who bothers to listen to some of the people involved. It goes way above and beyond a discrete and specific concern about unjustified Police shootings. Ignore the communist, socialist and totalitarian undertones and outright demands at your own peril.

They also take the "freedom of speech" over "property rights" position, whereas Ron Paul reverses those priorities by siding on property rights of the employer first. They conspicuously avoid the topic of property rights. Do they not value them in this case?

Then we have this self-praise, almost to infer that Ron has somehow been quiet on the subject of militarism:

Matt Welch masterfully parsed out nearly all the issues relevant to the libertarian perspective about this dumb controversy at Reason earlier this week. Among his conclusions were that it would be great to get government money and giveaways and crony treatment out of sports, and that it's a healthy thing for free Americans to react to presidential dudgeon by doing the opposite of what (he claims) he wanted. (Trump, the political imp of the perverse, likely would have been disappointed if everyone had obeyed his command to rise for the anthem.)

Anyone who actually watched the recent Ron Paul Liberty Report on this subject knows that this was Ron's primary concern. He was very specific about this. This is not something that Ron ignored or under emphasized. It was his main point. To infer otherwise is simply deceptive.

And finally, they don't like the idea of boycotting the NFL as Ron suggested, for fans who are not happy with what is happening at NFL games. So apparently, as with property rights, boycotts are somehow not really important in this case to the folks at Reason.

Bottom line, it's just another smear story, and deceptive at that. Which one of their big crony donors paid them for this article?

I was unable to access the article. What I have said from the start is that last week the announcement was specifically made that the Titans and the Seahawks were protesting police brutality and racial inequality. That is incongruous with the history of Nashville. They have not done their homework. In addidtion, the Titans have sucked a lot of city and state resources, including police. It is inappropriate for them to protest those two things here in Nashville where they suck so much taxpayer money.

Ron' right. Get the military out of sports. over 150 million the DOD has spent on patriotizing sports since 2005 alone. Using it a a propaganda tool. Using it as a recruiting utility.

The Reason author didn't take up the cultural Marxism issue sufficiently and Ron doesn't want to address the possibility that some people will risk the consequences of breaking rules, laws, and sacred contracts to speak out against injustice.

By general consensus it was San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick, who in 2016 started the protest by refusing to stand up during the US national anthem.
