Running QBs aren't as valuable. I haven't watched an NFL game since high school. I know almost nothing about football. But I have read most of the stuff out there on sports betting as stats that create wins for teams.

The reason teams pass much more now than in the past is because it is mathematically optimal to pass more. The only reason teams don't pass every down (other than when they need a small gain) is for game theory purposes. You need to run some to keep the defense on their toes for when you do pass. It is the same reason you have bluff sometimes in poker.

Running quarterbacks are like point guards who shoot a lot like Allen Iverson. They are fun to watch and very overrated. They don't win.

Also running qbs piss off your wide receivers. You bust your ass trying to get open and then you find out it was all for nothing.

A story from 2016 has suddenly popped up again, claiming Jones told his Dallas Cowboys players that they would be fired if they didn’t stand for the National Anthem. The truth is, Jones never made that statement about his players or the song. Many reports say the story was made up by a man named Richie Newberry, who started spreading the lie on Facebook.

In 2016, after Colin Kaepernick and others protested the anthem by taking a knee, Jones voiced his displeasure with the protests.

“The forum of the NFL and the forum on television is a very significant thing,” said Jones. “I’m for it being used, in every way we can, to support the great contributors in our society – that is people that have supported America, and the flag. For anybody to use parts of that visibility to do otherwise is really disappointing. We strongly support the flag in every way — and the people that for generations have given it all up so that we can get out here.”

Alejandro Villanueva, a Steelers lineman and U.S. Army veteran, was pictured standing alone before Sunday’s game during the national anthem while the rest of the team refused to take the field in protest. His stand has made his jersey one of the top sellers in the NFL.

“Unfortunately I threw my teammates under the bus, unintentionally,” Villanueva said in a press conference Monday. “Every single time I see that picture of me standing by myself I feel embarrassed.”

It should be up to the NFL to decide if it is a problem and what to do about protests. The government should not be telling a business what to do and who to fire. There is also the question of free speech.

It is perfectly within the bounds of liberty to boycott those who engage in offensive behavior, the government should not get involved but Trump's statements are not official action.

Remember back in 2008 when the powers that be desperately set out to subvert this movement, split off the outliers with some Republican libertarian-lite thing, and herd us like sheep back into their divide and conquer game?

Well, it seems to be working.

So how do you get people's attention? How do you alert rank and file, red meat Republicans to the fact that they really don't want the fascism they think they want? How do you make the Democrats who associate the real fascists' socialism with the only hope they thought they had that blacks could be seen as human individuals, and not automatically shot like hood rats without a second thought, see that the MSM is herding them into the enemy camp and that we want them to have their God-given individual rights to life and liberty even if some people infiltrating our camp do call them animals (and worse)?

Should we encourage teams to do a second anthem? Should we raise the Bennington flag (my avatar) and sing God Bless America? What?

Because at the end of the day, these players are doing the right thing, even if they can't exactly give an articulate explanation of what they're protesting (and if they do, it winds up on the MSM's proverbial cutting room floor). Wouldn't that depend on what their contract and rule book says? If their contract with the NFL only involves playing football and says nothing about participating in this patriotic bull$#@!, then that would mean their participation in the latter would be optional... as it should be.

Very few things required by employers are spelled out in contracts.
